We had such a good time and a terrific meal. We went for the Prime Rib that we had heard about from a fellow traveler. We got so lucky to have Ramona (the owner) as our server. She is a delight. Our waitress was less than could be desirable. We waited for water, menus, service for at least 10 minutes and it wasn't that crowded, we saw her very little and had to ask another server for our check. The place was not that crowded! read more

This is our first Winter staying at the Blackrock RV Park. We've found a gem of a Cafe run by Raymona and Shawn. Raymona is real people and speaks her mind freely. She and Shawn are also very great Cooks. The food they put out of that kitchen is: Hot Tastey In Quantity Reasonably priced. Servers are wonderful. Brianna, Abi, Stephanie, Lisa B Sandra, and Kay. Impressed with their attitudes and warmth. A keynote night is Saturday when they cook up Prime Rib and Ribs. Oh my the Prime Rib fills the plate with little room left over for Potato, Green Beans, Salad or Soup, and a roll! Same with Ribs!!! Some seriously good cooking! I shared a receipt for Bacon Wrapped Pork Loin with Raymona, she fixed 20+ of them, and they sold out that night!!! I expect we will see this dish on future specials. Been eating Ramona's food here since day one of her restaurant. The food is incredible.....all the daily specials are to die for. Taco Tuesday, Thursday spaghetti and Friday 5 piece FISH..and don't forget Saturday for prime rib dinner or baby back ribs. (My favorite). and if you want a great burger get her mushrooms, swiss cheese with crinkle frys. Sounds like I eat here a lot, I DO. Stop and dine tell them jp sent me. Enjoy the food. read more

We have eaten here in past years, we were told today the special was fish and chips. The frys were very undercooked, and the coleslaw was flavorless. The fish was good. However, the tartar sauce was watery. We'll go back next time ,through for lunch, but not the fish and chips. read more

During our stay here, we've eaten at the Black rock Café three times. Tonight together with 194 other people we had their prime rib dinner. They started with the 8 20 pound roasts rubbed them roasted them in sequence, so there would be fresh prime rib for all the customers as they came in. The serving staff did an excellent job. They were courteous and efficient. Of a special importance to me is that the meal was served hot and the prime rib was cooked. Exactly to my specifications of 135° internal temperature. We would definitely recommend Black rock Café on Saturday nights. Making reservations a week ahead of time is probably a smart thing to do. read more

Outstanding! This had to be the best "end cut" I have ever had. It was very tender and had very little fat, along with great taste. Excellent service from Pam, very attentive. We lacked for nothing. Dessert included and was also quite good. Added an egg in the morning and it made for a great way to start the day! Going back on Saturday to repeat same, prior to departure for the summer. My wife's parents, aunt and uncle all snowbird at one of the RV Resorts near this restaurant each year, and we always go to Black Rock Cafe for the Prime Rib dinner on Saturday nights when we're visiting with them. There are two rooms in the place. The main room is where all the action is, however the back room is where we have been sat every single time I have dined there. It is literally a featureless, single color room with plastic folding tables and bright fluorescent lights, not unlike what I envision as a hospital rec room. The salad and side bar is extensive and kept fresh, the prime rib cuts are juicy and the service, at least on our most recent visit, is friendly and attentive. I do think the the price of the Prime Rib is high for such a fatty cut of meat. The King is a 16 oz cut, and I would say that each time I have had it, roughly 5 oz of that is fat and gets sliced right off before I dig in. On this last visit, my wife and I each had a King cut, I had one light beer, she had one glass of chardonnay, and we split a slice of apple pie à la mode. In contrast to the meat, the beverages and dessert were very reasonably priced. We also tried the caramel bread pudding and it was delicious. All in all, the place is just OK. read more

I drove a hundred mile round trip this afternoon to go here to get a prime rib dinner and it was probably the best prime rib dinner I have ever had in my life! I've come out here many times to get there fish fry on Friday night but I missed it last night so I thought I'd come for the prime rib tonight and boy did I make out like a bandit!! I love Ramona and Sean that run this place so it's worth the drive to me just to get to say hello! They are open for dining in or take out! If you haven't, you need to try it!! read more

My sisters and I met here, halfway between Southern California and Tucson. We had an excellent prime rib dinner, with all the trimmings. The prime rib was huge and delicious. I would recommend it to anyone driving on the I-10 to make a little diversion and you won't be disappointed. The prime rib special is only on Saturdays-- until they run out but they even take reservations! Aside from great food the staff was awesome and very attentive. I had lunch and breakfast here. The fish basket I had for lunch was wonderfully crispy and perfectly seasoned. I had biscuits gravy for breakfast. The coffee was good the biscuits perfectly tender and the sausage gravy was spot on. They also make box lunches for people doing off road ATV trips.These I have to try. read more

Cook is east side LA attitude. The Amazon waitress is as smart as a bag of rocks. Food is lower end of just OK.

Ramona's chicken strips are amazing! Paired with either tasty tater tot's or seasoned french fries it is a big meal! If your traveling from Phoenix to LA then bypass this place and get a burger in Quartzsite instead. If going the other direction go back. Onions rings are frozen, deep fry oil is too cold, and was probably last changed during the Clinton administration. Everything is frozen and/or comes from a can and tastes like it. read more

Comfort food in the desert. They have a nice buffet and very good prime rib dinner once a week. I come here once a year to see my parents who snow bird themselves up the way with all the other motor home-ites who golf and sun and do what they do in retirement years in machines that cost more than some homes do. You won't find gluten free...No vegan.. and not alot of health on this menu. You will find your grandmothers pot pie tho. You will find your mothers pot roast and potatoes. So I gave up and stopped asking my own mother, a northern Cali debutante herself who raised me on organic greens and granola, where I was gonna find, 'grilled NOT fried'... Mom said, "stop and go with it' .. okay I did. It was delicious and good. I ran further in all this desert the next day. The buffet is ample and this particular night there were many options. LOL...not sure what to say about Black Rock Cafe! We came upon it kind of in the middle of nowhere at dinner time so we figured we should eat. It's at an RV park full of snowbirds. What kind of people are snowbirds........retirees. And what do retirees like to eat............bland food from a can and prime rib buffets. There, I think I phrased that well :) The service was very attentive and friendly was all snowbirds, I'm assuming. Our sweet server was so accommodating and kind to us with our children. They don't have a children's menu nor do they have anything that most kids will eat. She was very flexible and helpful in coming up with something to feed my kids. My son ate a hamburger, which wasn't that great, and she allowed the other to eat off my salad bar plate, which also wasn't great. My husband ordered pork chops that he wasn't a fan of and kept asking me to get him more plain lettuce with Italian dressing to fill himself up. read more

If you are dying of hunger, you would have to stop here. We thought nobody could ruin breakfast, but this cafe can. Ordered eggs, bacon, hash browns and toast. Eggs ordered over medium showed up dark brown both sides and totally cooked through. Hash browns not cooked through. Toast cooked on one side only and no butter. Waiters seemed not interested in doing there job and never returned to see if there was a problem with the meal. It took them twenty minutes to kill this breakfast. read more

I don't think they were prepared for the crowd as they ran out of things and sometimes had empty trays on a smallish buffet. The idea and variety was good but they need to ramp,it up for $14.99. We don't eat here very often, just not yummy, ok but really not worth the time. Buffet is always over cooked and tasteless.

It's hard to describe how really bad this meal was but I'll try. The taco Tuesday buffet was poor at best. My fettuccine alfredo was unbelievably bad it was salty and the chicken was completely dried out plus I had to wait over an hour to be served. Everyone else in the group was eating dessert by the time we were served. My wife's cob salad was tasteless no dressing the avocado was Brown and the chicken was also dried out and she also had wait to be served. I would not recommend this place to anybody and we will never go back. read more

We stayed here for four months. The sites are large (40x50), gravel and dirt. There's no table or fire ring, and no shade. You can have a barbecue grill, both gas and charcoal, but there are quite a few days that are so windy, it wouldn't be advisable. There's a strong community feel about this campground, and as newcomers we were made welcome and accepted as part of the community. We felt so "at home" that we made reservations to return next year, which is a rarity for us. read more
