A&R Bakery is a hidden gem in Blythe. Options in the area are limited, so we took a chance on this spot after finding it on Yelp. It initially appeared closed, but after calling, the owner kindly let us know they were open and welcomed us in. We ordered two croissants with a side of potatoes--simple, but everything was fresh, warm, and really satisfying. The owner's friendliness truly made the experience. They also offer a selection of Hispanic breads and pastries, which adds to the charm. If you're passing through Blythe, this is absolutely worth the stop. read more

What a find. This hole-in-wall place does SPECTACULAR sandwiches. I had their turkey on cranberry bread. Delicious in every bite. My only problem was slowing my scarfing to fully enjoy this lunch. Let's start out with the fact that Blythe is a very sleepy town on the 10 sitting on the border of AZ and CA. So for dining, what you have are a lot of fast food options. Probably not a lot of competition here, but A & R is setting the bar pretty high. Feels like a small family owned business that is working hard to put out great food for the community. Mostly highlights at this place. The croissants and other baked goods are pretty great. We live in Los Angeles and have access to a lot of amazing bakeries but I would say these croissants are some of the best we've had. We stayed here to work on a few things on our way to Phoenix so by the time we finished our croissants we were ready for lunch. We ordered a tuna sandwich and a BLT. Both very good for what you'd expect at a diner. Really good french fries. All fresh ingredients. Doesn't hurt that they also serve fresh baked goods. So the bread they used was high quality. Everyone working there was super accommodating. We were trying to find Wi-Fi for work. They provided us with the information although the Wi-Fi was pretty spotty. I wouldn't go there to sit on your laptop. It is a food place not a coffee shop. The restaurant itself is not fancy and could use some TLC. I have a feeling if they had the funding they would fix the place up a lot. But totally worth driving a few minutes off the freeway if you're heading in either direction on the 10. They are good people doing good work. Highly recommended. Go give them your business. read more

The reviews are for the most part very positive on Yelp but I didn't know what to expect. Sandwiched (literally lol) between Dollar general and Days Inn, I would have not expected a $12 sandwich combo could be justified. In spite of numerous reviews complaining about their experience, the staff was courteous, prompt, and helpful. Our food came quickly, but not too quickly ;) and was delicious. My MIL got the turkey sandwich with avocado & it looked stacked(!) to the brim. The soda machine was out of service & the gentleman behind the counter was very apologetic. On the plus side, they have many bottled teas and Mexican Coke! Pastries were good & although the brownie was very dense with a thick frosting, I didn't think it was overly sweet. The cherry danish is one of the best I've had in my life; yum!! Bread loaves were fresh; the jalapeno cheese has an unexpected sweetness to it and a great chew. Women's restroom was clean but out of soap. My son saw some cockroaches in the men's. All in all a nice dining option for those passing through. Lots of fast food chains which didn't sound appealing after hours on the road. read more

We were on a road trip to the Phoenix area from central California and had been on the road for about 5 hours when the hunger hit us around 9 am. My wife being the wonderful navigator she is, found this local place instead of the craziness that McDs and others were. It looks a bit sketchy from the outside, but it is the most welcoming when you step through that door. The woman greeted us immediately and helped us get settled in comfortably. She quickly threw on a new pot of coffee for us even before we'd had a chance to figure out what to eat. It has a nice classic Mexican restaurant vibe to it. It is a nice clean restaurant with great people. Well, I ordered the Philly cheese steak (yes for breakfast) and my wife got the egg, bacon and cheese croissant as well as a danish for our 3 year old. They started cooking everything on the grill even before I had paid. We all loved snacking on the cheese danish as we waited, it was great. Once the fresh sandwiches came out we dug in. While there wasn't a lot of meat in my philly, it was so good I forgot to get a picture of half before I ate the whole thing. Super fresh, not oily, nice grill to the bread. The fries were nice too as was the pickle. My wife's breakfast sandwich was really good too. The bacon was a nice balance between crispy and fatty, egg was fluffy but solid, cheese nicely melted all on a nice flaky croissant. Side of potatoes was also good. This totally unassuming restaurant is a total drive by from the outside, but the food I tried was unbelievable in the absolute best way. This is the place for super fresh sandwiches on house baked bread, plus sweet treats. I had been wanting to stop here while on my way to California from Arizona for some time now and glad we finally had the time. My husband had the Veggie sandwich on dark squaw bread, which he proclaimed was excellent, plus he finished it up with a cream filled coronet which had melt in the mouth pastry. I needed gluten free so asked for the Chicken sandwich with no bread and the helpful staff suggested a lettuce wrap, which worked out great as the lettuce was sturdy enough to keep the sandwich from falling apart. I had the potato salad as my side and it was creamy and fresh. The "Squaw" Bread is so good . We always get that and sometimes have them slice a loaf to take home . The Turkey is excellent. Not lunch meat , proper roasted turkey. Excellent pickles . They have fresh pastry in a case . Love the fruit filled of all sorts but Pineapple is my favorite. read more

Sorry I rated only a 3 because this place has the very beast turkey sandwiches I have ever had. However, the women that took our order was HORRIBLY rude. Didn't really greet us and when taking our order she had no expression nor words were spoken. When asked if they had tea she just pointed to the ice tea decanter. When she asked what chips I wanted she had a blank stare like I was supposed to know the sandwich came with chips. She was extremely curt and unresponsive to our needs. After she took our order I was standing near the cash register but removed from the line when she so rudely asked me what I needed. I said nothing, I just ordered. She replied very rudely YOU NEED TO WAIT IN THE DINING ROOM. She almost bit my head off. I told her she was very rude but she just kept staring at me. We were waiting f or our sandwich a woman came out of the dining room and said. SHE IS VERY RUDE.
