I was working in Yuma, and craving barbecue. When I ran across this place. I got the four bone pork barbecued ribs. And yeah, they were delicious. I got the brisket. It was good, ish. The cornbread was also delicious. I could hear the person at the next table. Moaning in delight as he was eating his food. Lol. I'll definitely be back. It had just the right amount of seasoning and smoke. They BBQ their food out back but have a kitchen for their side dishes. They offer a good variety. This is kid friendly too. Took a road trip to Yuma and came across THE BEST BBQ spot I have ever visited. The interior is awesome, has a cute piggy driving a vintage car on the wall as one of the many creative decorations. Let's get to the food now. My husband and I ordered brisket and their potato halves with cheese. We were so hungry and floored on how outstanding the meet and potatoes were, that I never even got a chance to take a picture of it beforehand. Let's just say, we plan on visiting again...soon. Finally found the best BBQ spot in Yuma! As soon as I walked in, the smell of smoked meat hit me right away--in the best way. The pulled pork was juicy with a great smoky flavor. I also tried the tri-tip and brisket--both were tasty, though slightly on the drier side, but the BBQ sauce definitely made up for it. I don't usually order mac & cheese, but it came with my sandwich and I'm glad it did. It was hot, fresh, and really hit the spot. Next time, I'm coming back to try the pork ribs and burnt ends. We love brisket and have ordered it all over traveling the US. Well, we hadn't been to Holy Smokes so this was the day to give it a try. To begin with a partial reason for the stars above was the location and interior design. It is really cute. It looks like a fun place to go and perfect for BBQ. We ordered 1/2 brisket, beans and cole slaw. The food was not up to the hype. What was wrong? After eating there I went back and compared pictures of the brisket others had posted. Theirs appeared to have a good smoke ring and good bark. Ours had no smoke ring and very little bark. Was it cooked too fast? You guessed it --- not good. It was okay but if you go for the brisket, this trip would not have done it. Along with the brisket we wanted to taste the beans and the cole slaw. The beans and cornbread was delicious. The cole slaw had a sharp taste and the cabbage was cut too big. Overall, I was very disappointed. I would have given a 2 star rating but the interior is cute. However, doubt we will ever go back. We stopped by Yuma on the way to visit parents for Christmas. This place caught my eyes because we felt like bbq for a while. It is literally on our way. The restaurant is very cool decorated, it is super cool western style designed with a modern touch. I really loved it. Wanted to try local bbq for our last night in Yuma. Holy Smokes smells great passing by. I was craving chicken so that's what I ordered with the Mac n' cheese. The food arrived quickly and the side was nice and hot. The chicken was nicely roasted and juicy but no signs of being smoked or grilled. No evidence of a rub or sauce during cooking. The sauce provided was more fruity and no smoke. It seemed like someone had a concept of a thing called BBQ but had never actually had it. I saw they had won best in Yuma but I'd like to taste what they were competing against. I can't say the food was bad but I can say it wasn't barbecue. read more

Let me talk about the service. My family and I stopped in 30ish minutes before Holy Smokes was set to close (we did not realize they closed at 5 and did NOT mean to be these people). That being said the hostess was amazing and was willing to accommodate us even though they were getting ready to close. We got the family dinner deal and the food was so good. I love a smoked meat and all of the meats on this plate knocked it out of the park. I think the chicken was actually my favorite - so moist and smokey. I also loved the corn bread and mac and cheese. They also have some really cool decor and swing seats which would be great for people with kids who just can't sit still. 10/10 experience and shout out to the staff for accomodating us. Let me also say PLEASE try not to be those people who show up right when a place is closing and if staff is willing to accommodate you, make sure you tip them generously!!!! read more
