This review is for our Last Supper on 4/30/2022. I have raved about the food here (I wrote the first review for this restaurant). However, I don't understand how we could have the experience we had with our Last Supper order made through Doordash. I ordered within the first hour of Holy Smokes opening on a Saturday (between 11-12:00). Our Doordash guy delivered it quickly. First thing I noticed, the tray that the food came in did not feel hot to the touch. When we started to dig into the meats, everything felt about room temp at best. If we ordered right after the restaurant opened, wouldn't one expect everything to be hot off the grill? It just went from bad to worse here. The bbq chicken was tough and dry. The Mac n Cheese wasn't well blended (I could see a lot of the cheese didn't touch some of the macaroni pasta). The sauce topping just sat on top of the dish. My hubby and I thought that despite having placed this order as soon as they opened, we got our foods that were simply warmed by microwaving them. Oh the up side, the brisket was exemplary, even when it was bordering on cold. This experience won't necessarily deter me from ordering the same from Holy Smokes, but I hope today was just a one off. read more

Great new addition to downtown food scene and Yuma in general. I LOVED my pulled pork and queso mac n cheese. In fact, all 5 people in our dining party loved their food. 2 ppl in our party had the ribs and really liked them. The honey butter on cornbread was on point, too! We sat inside in one of the elevated truck beds and it was pretty cool. We love the decor. Make sure you walk out back and see all the meat cooking! The brisket was highly recommended by an employee so that is on my list for the next visit! read more

Perhaps I'm spoiled by authentic Texas BBQ, but this place is just OK. Keep in mind that mediocre BBQ is infinitely better than excellent sushi, so I'm just comparing apples to apples here. The brisket has a nice smoke flavor but it wasn't as tender as I would like so I wonder if the temperature was too high. The cornbread is better than most places, but the other sides are just OK. The decor is cute but the seating isn't very comfortable. The service is very friendly and quite speedy. For Yuma, this place js great, but in another city, this would be a three-star place. read more

We ordered The Last Supper for takeout/pickup which consisted of 4 applewood smoked cornbread muffins, 4 sides ( 2 mac and cheese, 1 baked bean and 1 potato salad),8 oz of applewood sampled pulled pork, 1/2 rack of date glazed smoked ribs and 4 sriracha smoked drummies. In my opinion it was on par with some of the other like-minded resturants in town, that is to say we enjoyed it. While I am a southern girl at heart and will always FIRMLY believe that the best BBQ is found in Tennessee, I did enjoy dinner here at Holy Smokes. The food was good. I was generous with 4 stars and truly I rounded it up from 3.5 because of how quickly the staff got our food out to us (we ordered it to go and it was ready in a snap!). The restaurant is ADORABLE. The inside is decorated beautifully and it is clean and cozy and just a fun little spot to eat. Some of the tables had wooden swing type chairs that hang down from the ceiling. What better way to enjoy your BBQ than while reminiscing on those memories of backyard swings from childhood? The staff was super friendly, too, and that's always a bonus. So about the food. We got the Last Supper family meal with potato salad, coleslaw, Mac and cheese, and seasonal green beans. It comes with cornbread muffins (they're sweet, FYI), brisket, pulled pork, smoked chicken, and ribs. The pulled pork? Not the best. Just wanted to get that out of the way. There was an unholy amount of fat on the pork in there, and we only ate maybe half of the pulled pork because of it. (That's usually my go to meat order at a BBQ place.) the ribs were ok. The brisket and Smoked chicken though were both good, although the chicken was on the bland side seasoning wise BUT the meal came with delicious BBQ sauce that was perfect. The green beans were seasoned wonderfully and the cornbread muffins were good if you like sweet cornbread. My son was a fan. The slaw was mayo based and sweet and tangy and delicious. The potato salad was good- it was like eating a cold chopped up loaded baked potato. The Mac and cheese left a lot to be desired, though. Overall I definitely think I will eat here again and next time I plan on just getting the brisket (it was my favorite of the meats hands down!) and dining at the restaurant because it's the neatest little BBQ spot in the heart of downtown! read more

Being from the midwest I was missing some BBQ so I saw Holy Smokes pop up and thought I would give AZ BBQ a try. The guy at the register recommended the Holy Cow sandwich. I gave it a whirl and was very pleased. AZ BBQ is different than KC BBQ but i feel they did a good job. It would be unfair to compare with BBQ from home. The tri tips were super tender and the deep smoke flavor could be tasted through out. The crispy slaw on top and generation portion of tomato and avacado was a plus. Then the spicy sauce on the bun brought it all together wonderfully. made for an enjoyable meal. I would visit again if I'm back this way. read more

Honestly hard to rate this place considering what we've all had outside of Yuma or made ourselves. So I'll rate this place for yuma standards... I usually give places 2-3months before trying in hopes the staff has it down far as food & flavor consistency. 1st visit was turned away by 7pm on a Friday night due to Tri-tip and pulled pork being out, was told chicken and ribs if I recall correctly was the only food available so we left as we looked forward to Tri-Tip 2nd visit is what you'd expect from a new place opening up is all I have to say... 3rd. Well picture posted, ordered the "Dump truck" for 12.99 and a fountain drink for 3.50!! After tax and 15%tip came to 20.00. Mac n cheese on the burger was bland at best, got brisket and pulled pork but NO TRI-TIP!? I just ate the meat is how I know there was no Tri-tip. Lobby is neat but when you arrive and there's no line you'd think it's a sit down place where you'd get a server.. Food is... well. Haven't tried too much and don't know if I'd be going back considering all 3x it's been rough. Got to meet the owners and shes very friendly. She showed me the smokers in the back when I asked about the brisket, she was in the navy and they converted an old missile tube into a smoker which is really cool. I had to try the brisket. Im no expert in brisket, but I do know that it was very delicious. It was super tender and packed with flavor. I think the rest of the menu could be improved however. It was sandwich special day, so that is what we had. I don't remember the name of mine (dump truck?) but it came with mac and cheese on brisket and pulled pork. My wife had the Redneck Tacos. All I can really say is YUM! Interesting way to serve BBQ and it was great. The brisket was thick sliced and super tender. The bbq sauce was perfect. Coming back to Orange County, Ca. from Spring Baseball in Phoenix -taking the Southern Route on Interstate 8. Needed fuel for car and body. Found our body fill-up at this eclectic BBQ joint. Our table was in the back end of a ole 50s pick -up truck. And the jalapeño poppers were good the bacon was nice and crispy and sweet and just so flavorful and it was well filled with the cream cheese and the ribs were well seasoned and tender and the cornbread muffins were good they were nice and warm and had corn chunks in it which I liked and the Mac and cheese was good, it was nice and creamy and cheesy but not to cheesy. And you may be wondering,"Why did Zayden put four star instead of five stars?" Well the problem is that the brisket was to chewy and was like rubber and it was wayyy to salty like in a a couple of bites your mouth will be very dry and just one bite it could kill a snail! But although the service, the wait time, and the food all together were very good. So 4/5. I recommend the ribs, jalapeño poppers, cornbread muffins and the Mac and cheese. Had high hopes for this place since it was highly recommended; the rustic look made it very welcoming. Unfortunately we did not experience any customer service, had a fast food feel to it. We ordered ribs and tri tip; Food was 4/10 in my opinion, came out within 5 minutes of order and was "warmish" fresh out of the microwave. The potatoes smelled spoiled so I brought it to their attention, the gentleman almost took offense to it but it was replaced with Mac n cheese. Restrooms were very dirty, no soap, and had a urine smell when you walk in. I cannot recommend this restaurant which is unfortunate. read more

I thought I had reviewed this on all platforms when I got food there, but apparently it was just one so three years later here I am giving a review cause I thought about this place and wanted to check up on it. My friend moved there recently and we went here together so maybe it was a nostalgic love thing. But regardless, three years later I still think about this food and aesthetic. The swing chairs are so fun and some of the bigger tables are literally truck beds, so cool. The spinach and artichoke dip is spectacular, the BBQ sauce options are stellar and house made. And the people there were the owners, and they were just so sweet, with some fun spice like some of their sauces. Whoever the woman running things was back in 2019 right before Covid, you were so fun and sweet and I still to this day adore you. My husband and I are a little biased and are pretty easily pleased when it comes to BBQ. So, naturally we were surprised at how disappointing the food was. We were very excited to try the everything here since we heard such great reviews. However, we started with 1/2 rack of ribs, Mac & cheese, and the infamous spark plugs. Everything tasted as though it was reheated leftovers. The ribs were so tough to bite through (we had to use knife & fork to pull apart) and they were very dry. The Mac & cheese was ok, but the cheese tasted like nacho cheese and the noodles were still kind of raw. The spark plugs were the only REALLY good things there, however they, too, seemed like they were a day old and just reheated. The prices were very reasonable, but in this instance, I guess "you get what you pay for". Only giving them 2 stars because their service was AMAZING! Holy Smokes, what a letdown. I have a feeling this place will have come and go as fast is the prior Twisted Kitchen. The tri-tip was okay, the brisket was dry. The Keto platter was a train wreck. It appeared to be a store bought dry Coleslaw mix along with grocery store cheese aisle shredded cheese on top of a few slices of meat. It was basically a $3 meal marked up to $13.99. The brisket platter was so-so, but not worth the $14.99. Very little meat mixed with some low budget sides. We figured we would try the spinach artichoke dip, to my surprise, it was absolutely disgusting. The best thing about it was the cucumber chips it was served with. It doesn't get much worse than this. Best advice: Skip this place and go to Famous Dave's. You will at least be satisfied and get your moneys worth. read more

I heard a few good reviews about this place and wanted to try it out. Took my spouse, and daughter for lunch and I ordered a brisket sandwich. I can't remember the exact name of it but I know that a majority of my sandwich was fat. There wasn't any visible smoke ring to the brisket, it was all chewy and served cold. Most of the meat I had to take out of the sandwich and leave on the plate. I wasn't impressed by the food. The place looks cool and that's aboUt it. I got home and my stomach feels like a wreck. From all the things on here, the beans is something I wouldn't choose due to lack of taste. It's missing something but I dont know what it is. Cheesy mac is really good. Cole slaw lack of taste. Taste more in the vinegar side (dont know why) and the slaw taste too cabbagie.. now the potato salad... really good. Love the flavor. Atmosphere is pretty fun.. has a home-y comfortable backyard bbq feel to it. The beds of a trucks have been converted into a dining table. Great concept bad execution as the aluminum or metal or whatever it's built out of is soooo loud with any sudden movement it'll echo across the restaurant. I ordered the smoked brisket. It was flavorful but cold. I read another review about this place that had the same issue but still wanted to try this new spot out but dang.. my food was cold too. Also, the soda machine was broken and only about 3 out of the 6 or so options worked. All in all though I think the folks that run the place were very kind people and I do really hope they catch their bearings. At least the brisket has a smoked ring. Out of all 6 pieces (1/2 pound) there was one I could cut with the plastic knife and fork. The fat was the best part of this meal. Mac and cheese was cheap nacho cheese sauce poured over the mac - very sad. Cornbread muffin was okay but the honey butter had a strange flavor, perhaps rancid - I'll know tomorrow. I dont know how this place could have a 4 star average?? I guess most customer have never had good Texas BBQ or my brother's brisket. I always give a restaurant 2 chances.
