Tacos are ok but the stars are their taquitos and bean & cheese burrito (of course!) the salsas are tasty and help make the food even better

Sad to share I taste the difference in the salsa. It was one of my favorites. Hoping for improvement.

Breakfast burritos are good. Machaca burritos are really good but you can't go wrong with a bean & cheese burrito extra beans extra hot and 3 rolled tacos all with the original salsa! read more

Disappointing... Visiting Yuma I read up on the "best" rolled tacos. Decided on Chili Pepper because owned by same family as Mr. G's. Ordered 3 rolled tacos w/guacamole and cheese $5.99 and a bean and cheese burrito $3.29. The tacos themselves were just okay. I could not find the cheese and there was a tablespoon of guacamole. Certainly not the best. The beans in the burrito were spot on authentic but the size of the burrito was pretty small. I will search for another place to find the "best" rolled tacos in Yuma. read more

I ordered 3 enchilada plates and 8 bean rice and cheese burritos. I asked for 12 green and 12 red salsas. They told me NO! The damn bill was almost 90 bucks and they didn't want to give me extra salsa? I do t know about you but it take be at least 4 to get through a burrito, so I was being conservative! F(! Them. Ordered 3 entrees for pickup. We live 15 minutes away. Got home with 1 bag and discovered only sauces and chips were in our bag. Returned. Discovered 2 bags (with entrees) were still in the kitchen. Inquired about whether food (after now 30 minutes) was still hot and fresh. Was not offered anything but assurance and a simple apology that all was good. 15 minutes later we unpacked our food to find a mess. The quesadilla packaging was soaked in grease, the tostada was mushy, the rolled tacos were not crispy and and topped with brown guacamole. A disappointing $54 plus tax and generous tip. Up until this point, always highly satisfied. A mistake (not on our part) was made. No ownership or resolution was offered. Highly disappointed. read more

One of the best things to do in Yuma is visit The Chili Pepper. This local legend serves up some really tasty Mexican food at fair prices. The staff are always friendly, and their new location is clean, bright, and super comfortable to dine in. My favorite thing to order? The bean and cheese burrito and the machaca and cheese burrito. Oh , and don't forget the red hot sauce! It's so yummy. I'd say people are obsessed with it. It has a hint of Mexican oregano and other spices that we crave all the way from San Diego , lol! Folded tacos were greasy! I've always loved the sauces here so when I discovered how the grease was already dripping from the tacos I was hesitant to add any of the delicious sauce. Sure enough the overburdened of liquid. Then spilled out of the flimsy wrapping the taco had been wrapped in. The sauce is delicious! Always has been! The meat was nothing special. Shredded over cooked beef with out a memorable flavor. But can we talk about the lettuce? Big pieces of lettuce. At least half of which were the dreadful thick nearly white pieces and these were speckled with brown. Unappetizing! When I first began ordering Bean and Cheese Burritos in if I recall Yuma Chili Pepper served up a respectable portion. Now the large flour tortilla has barely a quarter cup of beans. It's deceptive when you look at it! It's disappointing as well! The flavor of the beans is actually really good! I fully suspect that the contents of three Burritos could actually be an adequate quantity to fill one tortilla of this size without compromising the profit margin of this iconic Yuma staple. The customer service is non existent here! Eye Contact doesn't exist and none of the staff see remotely aware of why being hired by their employer is such an opportunity! Employers in this region have choices. Employers need something more than someone to hand orders to. Each and every contact an employee has with a customer is an opprotunity to help build the business and to secure their employment in the months and years to come! Clean the drive through ledge... remove feathers fluttering stuck to the stucco. Speak clearly and distinctly into the device when taking a drive through order! Remember if you were asked to repeat yourself not to take it personally, the person ordering me be trying to talk over noisy vehicles, ahead of them, and drive-through, other passengers or the wind. If a person has to ask you more than wants to repeat yourself, please invite them to continue to the window and place their order there. Ask your employer to check your voice over the drive through intercom. See if you could improve by enunciating , speaking a little slower, or adjusting your apparatus that you speak into for better clarity. If you need more training, ask your employer how you can better fulfill your job description and advance yourself within his company. It doesn't have to be a dead end job. Remember to smile you never know when someone you are greeting and welcoming to the business might be impressed by you. That man or woman you are giving excellent customer service to could actually be your next employer! read more

I have been going to Chile Pepper since high school in Yuma, which is more decades than I want to remember, :-). It is worth the drive from San Diego a couple of times a year to load up on burritos and their signature hot sauce. So fresh and so good, highly recommend if you are driving through Yuma to pop off the freeway for a few minutes and grab some bean burritos, chorizo, and matcha a burritos. read more

We ordered two burritos enchilada style. Disappointed like everyone else to receive cold burritos. Why would you not heat up our burritos, so the cheese melts the way it is supposed to for Enchilada Style burritos??? I have been going to chile pepper since I was in high school. I moved away for a number of years but am in Yuma usually once nor twice a month and stop. Is it the same as it was, no.. I dont think that it is. But its good. They could work on the speed aspect of the drive thru, but other than that, I have no complaints.. read more

My first time at chile pepper, apparently if you're from yuma "iykyk" lol. I just moved here a couple of months ago and WOW! this place is super good. I had their Chorizo w/egg burrito and it was amazing. homemade flour tortilla and the chorizo and egg was cooked to perfection! Definitely going to have to try their other dishes and burritos. The food was just okay and the staff acted like they don't want to be there. Too many other places to come back to this one.

The food is pretty good my review is for the customer service. Picked up food at 9:08 am and they forgot a cheese quesadilla. We called they said they have it when we came back. Drove back explained to them they forgot my item and I asked if I could have two soft drinks. She proceeded to charge an absurd amount 6.60. I asked if they could be complimentary she looked at me with a dumbfounded look so I paid for my drinks. We waited another 25 minutes and I asked for the status and they forgot again. As they blamed each other (in Spanish which I speak ) none of them even acknowledged the fact that they work for the customer. Finally they gave me my item , no apology no words. Sad that they have almost twenty people working and nobody could take command and control of the situation. "Come for the food not for the service" should be their motto. read more

Grabbed a big order because I live out of town. Ordered bean and cheese burritos and rolled tacos. The price is outrageous! I get it things are going up but the quality seems to not match the price. The salsa was really salty out of the 10 salsas we had to throw out about 6 of them from how salty they were and just a few tasted normal. I'm surprised to see that Chile Pepper isn't rated higher! Chile Pepper is a beloved Yuma restaurant. I've moved away from Yuma for 8 years now but I always ask my friends/family to bring me Chile Pepper whenever they visit! Their bean, cheese, and rice burrito is the BEST I've ever had. What really makes the burrito are the beans. I don't like refried beans- the texture is mushy and it usually just tastes like beans (I know right?) Chile Pepper's beans must be made with love (and some lard) because they're unlike any beans I've ever had. Yes, the price has gone up to $2.69 but factor in the hard times and COVID. $2.69 isn't the end of the world for the best BCR burrito ever! Don't forget the salsa! read more

Went through the drive through today and ordered 2 machaca burritos, 2 bean and cheese burritos, and 2 doz rolled tacos. Nevermind the fact that is was $53.00, which is really high for basic take out Mexican food, but they shorted me on my order. Got my food and the guy outside repearepeated my order while he sorted through the bag so I made the mistake of assuming it was correct. Drove home 12 miles to feed the family and found that the 2 bean and cheese burritos were missing. Got back in the car and drove the 12 miles back to resolve it and was offered the 2 missing burritos, nothing more. I said the people who ordered those have already eaten something else so I had no need for the burritos. So they offered my money back, which is quite literally the absolutle LEAST they could do. No real apology, and when I asked if my business, my time, my extra 24 miles, and not getting to have lunch with my family was worth anything all I got was a shrug. No offer of a coupon, credit for a future visit, some rolled tacos, NOTHING. In my opinion that is very poor customer service and at thise prices no sure if I would return. read more

I placed an online order. Because I was in the middle of moving and placing a lunch order, I accidentally ordered frozen rolled tacos-3 dozen! I called after discovering I had frozen tacos and the gal told me to come and exchange them for cooked ones. As I pull back into the parking lot to exchange the frozen tacos, the "manager" calls me to tell me that I can't exchange them because I made an ordering error. I explained I'm moving and cannot cook them at the moment and he told me he cannot exchange them for cooked ones and I would have to buy another 3 dozen cooked ones. To be honest? I don't know what the big fuss is about. The food is ok, I went in today to get rolled tacos platter the tacos didn't have anything on them, I had to pay $2 to get a tiny tiny bit of guacamole for them. I just went through this weekend and made an order with zero difficulty. So when i was on my short busy lunch all i wanted was shredded white cheese on my fries and the girl running the front today Tuesday at 1pm refused to simply add the cheese to my fries and charge me for it with my burger so i requested a refund but she was very matter of factly and condescending and lied to my face saying she couldnt for they "told her" she couldnt allow it for sanitation purposes when its just a handful of cheese ontop of the fries there is no sanitation issue with that especially when i come all the time and get my fries that way. and i was working the restraunt business for 15 years before my new job so i know she lied right to my face about both reasons she just didnt want to do it, and wanted to be rude about it. i will not be coming back because of that and will let my family and friends know about the bad service over something so small and lying to my face. i dont appreciate her tone and her attitude and the lies. i have a short lunch so i wasted my time there. wont be doing that again! read more

Omg I love this place because it is a sister restaurant of Mr. G's, and every time we are in Yuma we HAVE to go here! we always get burritos, and our Cao rites are the carne verde and carne roja, as well as the rice bean and cheese burritos! For breakfast, we love the machaca and egg burritos! Don't forget to ask for extra salsas! The service is always top notch, and I can't speak enough good things about it here ! read more

Found it and sent him a pic, it has grown a lot since he last enjoyed their food. Have to say it was really good and not that far off the freeway, so it was easy off and back on. Had their signature bean and rice with cheese and some rolled tacos with guacamole. The guacamole is not the green goo that some taco shops try to pass off as guacamole, it was real and fresh. The food has gone downhill tremendously, I knew that about 3 visits ago but I went anyways. I got French fries that tased like meat because I'm sure they fry them in the same grease as the tacos and the burritos taste like store bought tortillas. Beans had no taste or cheese. Food was cold. I went in today and ordered a carne asada burrito and a cheese quesadilla. The quesadilla was paper thin and barely passable. The burrito on the other hand was cold. And I don't mean cold like not hot but actually refrigerator cold. At first I thought it was the tortilla but then the carne asada ( which is laughable to even call it that) was cold as well. I took it back to counter and they said what do you want us to do. Um make another one and make it hot? Then he was going to refund me, I'm like it's okay I'll pay just make a hot one. Brings me out another and the tortilla is now slightly warm but the insides again are cold. I wasn't going to ask again so I threw it away and left. Now let's talk about the carne asada. The meat beyond being cold was also grey in color no char or marinate or flavor to speak of. They should be ashamed. Staff was fine but basically seemed uncaring. Also how do you bring ANOTHER COLD BURRITO. I wish I had the presence of mind to take a photo of that laughable carne asada. Avoid at all costs this place sucks. read more

My husband is a Yuma native, so whenever we are in Yuma, this place is a given stop. I don't know how they make something as simple as a bean and cheese burrito so good. I always get the tostada, delicious beans and fresh lettuce. The rolled tacos are amazing, I love the cheese they use.
