Stopped for lunch on our way to San Diego. We were welcomed as we walked in by the girl at the counter who made it seemed like it was an inconvenience to serve our family. We ordered the steak, pepper steak, and the Italian hoagies. The Italian was by far our favorite, the steak hoagies were ok. If we were to ever stop by again we might try the Stromboli or pizza. The crust, the homemade sauce, and toppings blend into a perfect pizza. We also ordered the steak Stromboli-our first time to have Stromboli. It was delicious! The peppers and sauce toppings were perfect accoutrements. Prices are reasonable and portions generous. Order and pay at counter. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Indoor and outdoor patio dining available. Very clean restaurant/dining areas. Self serve fountain drinks. Per associates, they allow patrons to bring their own beer or wine. This place was busy right up until closing. Lots of to go orders. Well, it's hard to fill my husband up because he eats a lot of food. So when he's hungry and wants a good meal, he has two BERNARDO's.

Had tuna and the bomb and the meatballs sandwiches. First time here. They melted cheese on the tuna sandwich which was a first for us and not really what we wanted. Would not order again.the bomb sandwich lacked good seasoning in the meat and the bread was chewy! The meatball sandwich was ok according to my friend Daniel. You also get a small drink and a bag of chips with your order. We strongly suggest that French fries would be a better option. Just moved to Yuma and probably won't be coming back. read more

Today I went to Bernardo's haven't been there in a very long time. I ordered what I have always ordered a tuna sandwich but this time it had no tuna mostly lettuce and onion, and some kind of sauce. Pizza was terrible which I'm sure you can tell my the picture and not only that when I called to speak to somebody about it, whoever the girl was that was working today at noon on Friday September 5th was very rude, Very dismissive. She said write the review she'd be more than happy to read it, I told her I would like to take it back to show her since I had not taken a bite of it yet and she said oh you didn't taste it but don't like it and I said no my issue is that there was no tuna in my tuna sandwich and she wanted nothing to do with correcting the situation She was just very very rude and I will not be going back. Im sad to say It has changed not the friendly customer service they used to be known for .Did taste it now and it was nothing like it used to be . sad because they're local that's where you wanna go. Had the a Chicken & 2 Steak Strombolis for Dinner today. The chicken was pretty good, Steak was very very salty compared to previous times we've ordered. I called to make them aware and I spoke to a lady which identified herself as the owner. Her response was a bit rude and petty. Her response was "well no one has complained about today" and to bring it back if I want a refund, as she insinuated that I may be trying to get something for free. I just threw the salty food in my freezer and will take it back next time I drive by Bernardo's (not for any money refund or credit, but to as proof their food is not as good as it used to be). Always been a place to go when you needed something to eat, laugh or even just blow off steam. Bernardos has always helped out the local kids when first entering the work force and taught them well. Honestly, this was such a great spot to try out. My friend and I were visiting Yuma this past weekend and we ended up finding Bernardo's. We were pleasantly surprised to try the Stromboli! It was a delicious and cheesy, savory food item. It's a little bit like a sandwich, but also different from a sandwich. Quite delicious and I would totally recommend getting it. It is quite large, so it could feed about 2 to 3 people. This place is definitely a casual spot. One of the things I will say is that one of the employees was super friendly and checking up on everybody. It was really cool to see that type of hospitality in a restaurant. Okay, hear me... this pizza was GOOD!!! I'm not a pizza connoisseur by any means, but I've had some great pizza in my life, and while this wasn't the best I've ever tasted I would definitely say it's the best I've eaten in Yuma! It tastes homemade and the ingredients are clearly fresh. You can't fake that fresh taste, and they've got it. I got a cheese pizza. My family and I love super simple plain ol' cheese, almost always, as our pizza of choice, and this one was delicious. It was crispy but still the right amount of bite to it, and not at all greasy (I'm a known pizza-grease blotter, and no paper towels were harmed during the consumption of my dinner). The sauce-to-cheese ratio was perfect. It was so so good. I cannot wait to try more of the menu items here! The inside of the restaurant has a really nice ambiance. We picked up our food to go, but I will definitely be eating inside next time (or maybe outside, if the weather isn't too hot, but it's Yuma so I won't hold my breath...) For the love, why do they have to be closed so dang early? The restaurant closes at 6 (the sign also said unless they sell out earlier). Sometimes my life isn't organized enough to have dinner planned out in time for that early closing. There's also no delivery so that's a bummer.
