We have gone to this restaurant for many years. I always get lung pain chicken. Eggrolls are great. They have a large dinner option that you can eat for days. The only thing is food can be cold sometimes if you have ordered later in the day. read more

We found this place while out exploring. Love their food and staff. We loved it so much that we drove an hour out of the way to stop back in and have their hot and sour soup because they make it fresh and their egg rolls that are deliciously crispy. The food is always good, I have never had a problem with my orders. I always order a pick up order. When I call in, I whom ever answers the phone, is always pleasant and gives an exact time as to when my food should be done. I always order the General Tso dinner combo, and ask for extra sauce in my dinner bowl, unfortunately, that is the only thing that is usually off. It always seems like my dinner bowl is slightly dry, but the food is always still good. For some reason, I have never had the desire to eat into the restaurant because it just doesn't seem too inviting. The restaurant is pretty small and the tables are too close together. I was a chef in 2 5 star restaurants and I can say this place is as good as the best place in China town...I get the Coconut Chicken with Veggie Fried Rice and tea...I give this dish 10 stars,it is perfect.!! Rice garden has always been a staple in my family. I went there as a young adult and remember seeing a kid playing on his iPad while the parents worked, then years later doing homework lol. I absolutely love their lo mein noodles, beef n broccoli, orange chicken, it's all amazing. If I HAD to make a complaint, it's not having bubble tea. They do have it in a can but it's horrible lol. We moved to Northwest Indiana in August. We love Chinese cuisine and have tried several places. Their crab rangoons are the best I've ever had. One of my favs is the Wonton soup! Broth is excellent. Such a wonderful meal we had! Late almost closing one evening after a long day at the hospital visiting a sick relative....really needed to eat. I know it was closing time, but the sweet owner let us sit down in the dining room, gave us hot tea, and made us a nice hot meal.......and it was the best Chinese cashew chicken I have ever had! I live a half hour away but I will return because that's how much I enjoyed it. Thank you Rice Garden!! I highly recommend this restaurant!! Doing an update review as I have been to almost ever Chinese spot you can go to in or very close to Gary/Merrillville/Hobart area... This is STILL the BEST Chinese spot around. Flavors are phenomenal. You will NOT find another place in the ENTIRE MIDWEST that has a better sauce for there Egg Foo Young. It is so sweet and savory, not like the bland, goopy gelatin other places serve. Trust me, ANYTHING you order will be packed with delicious flavor. My ONLY issue is the Egg Foo Young only comes with 3 instead of the normal 4 and the Lo Mein is smaller then most places. If they could fix those things this place would be PERFECT!!! This was an awesome place. All the food cane so quickly and was so fresh that it was almost too hot to eat. The items that were fried, were fried to perfection and the serving sizes were huge! I've only ordered delivery from Rice Garden, so I cannot rate the restaurant. We've pretty much sampled the whole menu from here, and that's saying something. There's over 100 items on it. I've recently become hooked on the House Special Egg Foo Young, which has a generous serving of three patties loaded with all the meats - expecially shrimp. Other favorites of mine are the Imperial Chicken, Kung Pao Chicken, and Singapore Mei Fun. Although I've never had a bad dish from them, they tend to taste a little repetitive. Their delivery is always super fast and must be a wide area, as we live a good distance away. Plus, the dinners come in a nifty reusable plastic containers with lids. Staff is friendly and regularly throw in extras (egg rolls, crab rangoon, sweet biscuits). Prices are as to be expected. Dinners fall around the $7 range and are very filling. read more

We usually eat in at this place. Even when they are crowded inside and the phone is ringing off the hook for carry-out, the service is quick and efficient. The portions are large and everything is brought out hot and freshly-cooked. Eating in, you get to enjoy real dishes and silverware. The fried dumpling appetizer is flavorful and nicely crisp on the outside. I always enjoy the hot and sour soup. It is not gloppy like a lot of other Chinese places. just ordered the Singapore Mei Fun, Chicken Fried Rice (green onions only), the Egg Rolls, and a order of Crab Rangoon... must say it was all good... I would suggest next time I add more onions to my rice and have them fry my egg rolls little longer, but other than that I loved the food and delivery service.. plus we got three sweet biscuits for free with are order.. this will be my new Chinese restaurant for now on.. read more
