The food is always outstanding. We order from Beijing often. More often would be better.

Good shrimp fried rice, General Tso, Bourbon Chicken, and won tons. The egg rolls were decent. I want to come back and see if they can prepare Peking Duck. The staff wa friendly and courteous. read more

I initially wanted Jade, but they're closed on Sundays, so I tried Beijing for pick up. Friendly staff had my fresh, delicious food ready in 10 minutes. A bit pricier than other spots, but I'll definitely be back. read more

Excellent food is always fresh and delicious. The delivery drivers are professional and amazing. Owners are great people! Overall, great place to get Chinese food! read more

Our food was better than expected! Beef and broccoli cooked perfectly! Shrimp egg roll was average. Pork fried rice smoky and full of flavor! 4 stars given because sweet and sour chicken was just breaded with a container of sauce on the side. No pineapple . Just not what I'm used to. We got take out. The food was ready in 10 minutes on arrival and nice and hot. It looked like they were moving in? Boxes all over dining tables and in entry. I just moved to Portage so unsure if they're new too to this location. When the Chinese craving hits, we will go try other items! read more

Beijing has your typical menu of American style Chinese cuisine. We usually order for delivery. They are in Portage, we are in Burns Harbor and they deliver to us which is super convenient. They also have their own delivery drivers and online ordering which I like. The food always arrives hot and fresh, I don't think we've ever had anything missing from our order and it is usually pretty quick considering it's probably a 15-20 minute drive to my house. When we do pick up orders it is always quick and easy to pick up. Our favorites are beef and broccoli, the chicken skewers, shrimp udon noodles, sesame chicken, chicken and broccoli.... We've liked everything we've ordered pretty much. read more

No seating . Please clarify that this is take out only. The food looked good. I am in a wheelchair and would not have stopped had I known that it was take out only. read more

My mother in law raves about Beijing and we were visiting so we decided to get take out before Christmas. Overall rating? It's fine. Not amazing not bad. Fine. I had the snow peas and beef and my hubby had singapore rice noodles. We couldn't figure it out but both were just missing something. The Singapore we think is missing spice. The beef.... I can't figure it out but it was missing some depth of flavor. I will say they do deliver and it was fast, hot, fresh, and tons of food for the price. Do I think it's the best? No. Visiting out of town would I get it again? Probably. read more

Beijing Chinese Restaurant - Beef and snow peas with steamed rice - Chinese Near Me - Portage, Indiana

Food was okay but the price was very expensive. The food was a little greasy. The rice wasn't that good

Just some bad food sometimes. I have enjoyed a few meals but this one time was my last time. Got sick off the food ,had beef broccoli with white rice. The meat was chewy, and weird tasting. Didn't taste like regular beef, didn't look like regular beef, made me very ill! read more

The best chinese food in the area. Always tasty. Staff is friendly as well. The only thing that isn't the greatest is the crab ragoon. Barely any crab any it. read more

Beijing Chinese Restaurant - Beef broccoli dinner entree with fried rice and an egg roll - Chinese Near Me - Portage, Indiana

The foid is still good but not excellent as it once was. The staff is efficient but not friendly like they used to be. I'll give another try before I decide to dismiss them. They used to be top notch. read more

I love this restaurant because they also keep my order and every time I call it's something I can ask them to repeat and they can just re-order so I don't have to continually repeat. That said, dining in is not formal by any means it would be more casual dining. I recommend this for eating at home and having great delivery service. The food is good and not overly salty and I highly, highly recommend the Crab Rangoon, BEST in the region! read more

Best Chinese food in Portage. Always hit and delicious. Fast service. Always friendly. Yum yum yum.

Egg drop soup was SO GOOD! Crab ragoon needs more filling and less crust imo. The general tso chicken was also really great as well. Been ordering from here about once a month for the last 2 years since I've moved up here if that tells you anything. People are nice, food is yum. I've yet to find another Chinese place this good read more

Our food was delivered hot and fresh. The crab rangoons were so yummy! In fact everything was very tasty. We will be ordering again soon!!

Everything is absolutely delicious and authentic Chinese here! We stopped by after visiting Indiana Dunes National Park for dinner. We had the crab rangoons, General Tso's chicken, Mongolian beef, and house special chow mein. The food came out hot and quick, the customer service is excellent, and the owner is so friendly. If I were local, I'd be ordering take out from Beijing very often. Support this family owned local business! You won't be disappointed. read more

The food was very good. Not the best but still very good. We had the chicken lo mein, chicken and vegetables, Crab Rangoons and more.

Best around portage. Great service super cool people and the food is always amazing.!

My hubby and I stopped here on the way home from Illinois to Virginia. I had a random urge to each Chinese. My eyes were definitely bigger than my belly and their portion sizes are large. Their prices are amazing. We ordered the mei fun, Mongolian beef, house fried rice, and chicken and broccoli. Overall the price was great, the establishment was clean, and the staff were nice. The food was just good, not amazing. read more

Food was quick and hot. I got the pork fried rice and beef lo mein. Very fresh! I found a new spot to order from

Definitely delicious. Order there a lot and I recommend highly to anyone that has not tried it.

This is my favorite Chinese restaurant in the area. The food is always fresh, tasty and the service is great. They have a very small dining area with maybe 5 or 6 tables. My favorite dishes are the Singapore Rice noodles, Mongolian Beef and Kung Pao Shimp. All of their soups and the egg rolls are excellent as well. Prices are good and you get a lot of food . read more

The food was really good, orange chicken tender, moist flavor in every bite. I will return

We love Beijing! We order from here biweekly!! The food is always delicious and hot! We have family and friends that come to eat specifically when we order from Beijing! We usually get it delivered and it's us usually here within a half hour timeframe. The people who work there are also quite friendly! Highly recommended! read more

What a great place to grab some authentic Chinese food! The family that owns this place is extremely friendly and do their best with whatever accommodations you need to make with your meal. Definitely the best place in Portage, in terms of freshness and taste! Some of our favorites: Beef Chow Fun(beef and flat rice noodles), Triple Flavor- white sauce(beef, chicken and shrimp stir fried in clear sauce with mixed veggies), House Special lo-mein. read more

Doesn't look like much when you walk past, but I was practically dying of hunger so I popped in. The definition of a hole-in-the-wall. I got the chicken with broccoli and it was lacking in flavor, was not at an acceptable temperature. The egg roll tasted like it was mass produced and not good flavor. I really had high hopes for the restaurant but I was disappointed to say the least. read more

I don't get Chinese often, but I get it here since they opened a few years ago. But the last two times I've been extremely disappointed. Got General Tso's---I ordered on the phone, and picked up in 10 minutes. It was SO soggy--breading was mush and flavor way different each time. I will give them another chance since they are the absolute nicest people. read more

For starters the food is amazing and inexpensive, and the restaurant is very clean. But the owner and quality of service this establishment provides is unreal. I was a regular here before I moved to Denver over a year ago. I came back in town for a funeral so I had to stop at Beijing. Now tell me why the owner remembered my name and my order (I get the same thing every time). How the hell does he do that?!!?? It's been over a year sir how do you remember this??? Where do you store this information at???!!! Even if the food was trash I would still go here bc of the amazing service. If the owner ran for president, I'd vote for him. read more

Fresh, delicious Chinese food. I was impressed with the flavors and the speedy carry-out service. I have not ordered for delivery, but they do deliver in the region. The staff is cheerful and friendly, and the dining room (though small) is very clean. Recommended for quality of the food and quantity of the servings. read more

This is definitely the worst chinese food ive had in my entire life. Definitely do not recommend going here. I got chicken with mixed vegetables. It tastes like they threw a bunch of unseasoned fatty chicken and old mushy vegetables in a bowl of water. read more

If u use logical based though in terms of health and wellbeing and price /quality ratio . Then you would rather go here vs panda express next door to them. The fact that they do not use MSG is worth it. Hey if u like being a garbage bod mofo then by all means stuff your face with gmo's and eugenics clot shot boosters as well. But if u like quality tasting healthier similar food then you go to this Restaurant for chinese takeout food. I do wish the one guy would take his mask off though and realize it is more unhealthy than healthy.. read more

I moved to Portage like a year and a half ago, and after a horrific food poisoning incident from a Chinese restaurant in Merrillville several years ago, I was a little shy about trying Chinese food again. But I am SO GLAD I TRIED THIS PLACE!! The food was fantastic, fresh and flavorful. The dumplings with the dipping sauce are out of this world, and so is their general tso's chicken! The food was packaged so nicely and kept very hot on the drive over. I will definitely order from here again. They've definitely got a loyal customer in me! They made me fall in love with Chinese food again! Thank you, Beijing read more

This is a place for a non-chinese, As an Asian, this is not the authentic chinese food, it looks like, but doesnt taste like. Beef chow fun is the entry dish for a chinese chef, but theirs is too salty, texture too soft(guess they didnt pan fried the noodle first), and it doesnt even have the sauce it supposed to have. Hot and sour soup is not good, taste like water, vinegar, soy sauce, and starch... read more

I am visiting from the Metro Detroit area, and randomly decided to have food here. I already had Panda Express last week, and it was just okay. However, the food was quite a pleasant surprise. I got a combination platter consisting of chicken with garlic sauce, side of fried rice, an egg roll, and wonton soup. It was quite good. The egg roll had pork and cabbage, which was quite rare from where I'm from. The chicken with garlic sauce had baby corn, broccoli, and carrots. I didn't even order it with green peppers. The soup was a generous size and only a little over $2. It all cost only $11.30. Im coming back here for the remainder of my stay. read more

We are using Beijing Chinese Restaurant for our son's rehearsal dinner next month partially because it got such good reviews on Yelp. Instead of just trusting the reviews, however, we drove to Indiana to check it out in person, just to be sure. We were not disappointed! First, the manager, Sean, has been great to work with. He was easy to talk to on the phone and in person, he was confident in his ability to handle the catering we would need, and he made delicious suggestions which would please a variety of palates and would stand up well to being in a warming tray for a while during our event. The restaurant has a wide assortment of choices, but Sean helped us settle on three dishes which please many of his patrons and will very likely suit our guests as well. We tried all three, and they were beautifully presented (in large portions) and full of meat and fresh vegetables. Beijing's whole staff is friendly, and if you eat in the restaurant, the waitresses are very attentive and helpful! We're looking forward confidently to our event next month, having tried out Beijing twice now. Highly recommended for dinner or catering needs! read more

Spicy Beef was spot on. Egg Drop Soup was delicious. The food is fresh and always hot. The staff is friendly, fast and the kitchen is clean and you can watch them cook. Did I mention the food is great?!?! The prices are very resonable so check it out you will not be dissapointed. read more
