We were in the area on vacation at the Beachwalk, and wanted some Chinese food. The Oriental Pearl was closed for 7(!) weeks while the owners were on vacation. This place was also in town, we took the bait and tried it without a review by a yelper... We weren't disappointed. This place is a good value (quality per dollar). The food was tasty and very inexpensive! Many large size entrees were in the $6-8 range. The restaurant has seating, but absolutely no decor - this is a carry-out exclusive place in my mind. We had the chow mein, sesame chicken, Mongolian beef, and egg foo young. All were good. read more

China One - Exterior - Chinese Near Me - Michigan City, Indiana

Zero stars for this place. The food was so bad I don't even know where to start. Fried rice they made was just white rice with a chicken bouillon cube. Zero flavor! Beef and chicken entrees were chewy parts of some unknown origin with a gooey paste. I wouldn't feed this garbage to my dog. Absolutely the worst crap I have ever tasted. It went right in the dumpster. Will never go back! Be warned. read more

I just ordered from China one and I'm not sure what the change is however I want to share that my food was superb! Hot and ready for pickup. Their appetizer plate was phenomenal ..paired it with shrimp fried rice and I just couldn't believe how great it was!!! Michigan City born/raised and will be back soon read more

The food tastes and looks old. The wontons were cooked to death and still served???? Why? The eggrolls taste fishy but have no fish???? read more

China One - a variety of pastries on a tray - Chinese Near Me - Michigan City, Indiana

Food is some of the absolute best in Michigan City, Indiana!!! Served hot, flavorful, delicious and inexpensive. We thoroughly enjoy the General Tso's Chicken, Shrimp Fried Rice, egg rolls and crab Rangoon. read more

I would. Moment on the flavor of the sweet and sour chicken. But alas, there wasn't any flavor.

I usually go to Gourmet House but my mom recommended me to try ChinaOne and I am so glad I did! Placed an order for pick up and our food was done in less than 15 minutes. Our food was amazing especially for how much we got with the price we paid. The egg rolls were the best part! read more

Indiana does not have many Chinese restaurants but I was satisfied with this one. The most impressive part of my visit was the non Asian male working the front counter. I felt if this restaurant is cool enough to hire someone outside their culture to work a cultural restaurant, they had nothing to hide and the food might actually be good. Well, I ordered combination egg foo young and fried rice. The egg food young was really good, great flavor and the ingredients were balanced. Chicken, shrimp and pork. I was greatly pleased with my main dish, however the fried rice was really bland. It was just rice, stirred in a wok, no scallions, no onions, no vegetables, literally just rice. I was really disappointed at how much they cut back on the fried rice. Well, if I'm ever in the mood for Chinese food and I'm in Indiana again, at least I know that they can do a really good egg foo young. Until next time I'm in Michigan City, this has been another FatboyAdventure! read more

The food is better than any other Chinese restaurant in MC. House fried rice is my favorite! Crab Rangoon would be my second favorite they serve. read more

The food is decent. The best in Michigan City. Quality is pretty consistent. The kitchen is clean and everyone working is always nice and helpful. read more

I'm visiting my sister and I've been WEARING this place out by ordering their large shrimp fried rice! It's so delicious and packed with shrimp. I'm going to be sad when I have to go back home! read more

Fresh and quick Chinese that's one of the best in the city! I usually have the crab rangoon and general tso's!

For the price it is a great option. Food was hot, vegetables were fresh and crisp. I would go here again, or order take out from them. read more

Pepper steak was amazing. Crab rangoon is delicious as always. Quick, inexpensive, and consistent. I think its the best Chinese food in town. 很好吃!! read more

Nasty Chinese. Unfortunately your options in this town are limited. But I would not order from here. Chicken is very "chewy" and their food is very bland read more

We ordered delivery so I don't have comments about the restaurant atmosphere but man was our food gross. I found a bone in my kung pao chicken which had no flavor at all. Egg rolls and crab Rangoon were okay but I threw the rest out sadly. read more

Main Food was good. But they changed the egg rolls. They're not that good. Something with the roll itself. Very thick roll and hard and it was over all dry. read more

Finding the perfect greasy spoon Chinese restaurant isn't easy and after a long day, gourmet noodles just aren't going to cut it. After reading reviews on some places here in Michigan City, I had originally decided on the Oriental Pearl but was surprised to find out they aren't open on Sundays OR Mondays so that makes this place already a plus in my book as they're open all 7 days of the week. We were ordering for an army so we got several things, including the shrimp lo mein, beef and broccoli, beef and pea pods, sesame chicken, and the triple delight. On to the review: They messed up my order. While I'm sure chicken and broccoli is a delicious choice to some, it wasn't what I ordered. And the chicken didn't look that appetizing so points lost there. The shrimp lo mein was very good, shrimp were sizable and the noodles themselves had a very good taste . When this place says spicy, they mean SPICY! I don't mind spicy food but having ordered from greasy spoons before, was expecting maybe a little tickle at the back of my throat? Not the case so if you're not a fan of spicy foods, order-er beware. ALSO- SO MANY PEA PODS!! The beef and pea pods was good with a good flavor, however, that's only when you could find the beef through the never ending amount of pea pods they put in there. I'd like some more pea pods with my pea pods said no one ever. Overall, the place isn't much to look at on the inside so it's definitely more of a carry out establishment and it's convenient that their hours are flexible. Not a bad place when in a pinch as their lunch specials also seem to be generous but I'll still have to try some of these other places in town. read more

I love their food. The crab Rangoon is delicious. I go there at least 2 to 3 times a month. The service is quick and polite.

Family's favorite place to get carry out. Like many of my friends' said, it's the best in town! The young lady that works in the front knows my order the second I walk into the restaurant (you can imagine how often we go). You can never go wrong with Mongolian Beef, Sesame Chicken, Orange Chicken, Crab Rangoon, and Pot Stickers. read more

Decent Chinese take out. Very friendly and the girl that was working the front was easy to understand, unlike some other take out places. A solid choice. read more

This place is really great for take out. The staff is friendly. The food is always fresh. They cut the veggies large, and they will adjust the flavor to more spicy if you request it. They have nice vegetarian options. read more

Best crab rangoon in town. Their other offerings have been hit-and-miss. I have experienced both decent and poor (cold or underprepared) meals from this small takeout place. Food portions are adequate, quality has been inconsistent. Still, the BEST crab rangoon in town. read more

We like this place. They close late, food is very good, order is ready quickly, they are close to our home, they haven't screwed up an order yet, and staff is very nice. I think we go there too often....they are really starting to know me there for always picking up our orders. read more

i ordered their food for three times and every time are great. I love their Lo Mein and sesame chicken. The vegetables were fresh and just need 10 minutes for them to get the food ready, Wish they can deliver!! read more

Kind of bland chinese take out. The employees seemed friendly.Other places in MC are better. Can't recommend.

Should be called China Once as you go there once and never go back. Have liked it in the past but just ate there and nothing was good. Egg roll was very bad tasting. read more

I used to go there all the time, it was great. I ordered $30 worth of food tonight, got home and part of my order was wrong, the food wasn't near as good as it use to be, and when I called them the lady was insensitive to my complaints and actually a little rude. I will NEVER go back. The food tasted like American Chinese...no real Chinese flavor. Never again! Too many other Chinese places to go in this city. read more
