So this is today independence day and a got a pickup and this guy says he is manager doesn't cooperate and obviously rude , and the yogurt sauce , provided was spoiled and when we called about spoiled sauce and it spoiled entire food , the person who told is manager doesn't provide owner information nor clarity and calls back saying he is the owner and we researched and found out owner is hiren Taylor and we called the restaurant back and asked for hiren Taylor and the staff called back multiple times and even made fake calls as the owner... hope this restaurant doesn't give food poisoning for us.. or other customers and we will reporting this to several business bureau soon . We swung by Namaste India on our way back to Chicago from Indiana dunes national park. We went with low expectations but were pleasantly surprised by how delicious the food was. The ambience was very Indian,every corner had some of the other artifact from India. The service was pretty fast. We got the fried papad, side of onions, dal makhani, tandoori roti, butter garlic naan and paneer kadhai. I don't know if it was because we were hungry or because the food was delicious, but we literally devoured the food in a matter of minutes. This place is definitely worth checking out, go with low expectations, but you'd be pleasantly surprised with the food! read more

Food is alright. The interior is full of Indian staple things. It looks so cluttered though. The staff is nice. The menu is just a few items and then they can just make different things out of it. So chicken kadai is chicken curry and added onions and pepper added to it. But basically it's chicken curry. I'd suggest if you're ordering just order chicken curry instead. The naan were really good. Don't order tawa/home style roti - it wasn't good. We have been there a few times the quality of food is deteriorating every time. Do not order mango lassi, it was not even close to what it should be. If you don't have any options, or if you're traveling northwest & there are no other Indian food options, is the only scenario I'll go back. Also, the person taking orders didn't know English so they will adjust the spicy level as per themselves. They don't actually stick by the spice level. read more

four of us went to Namaste o Franklin for lunch . Two ordered the veg platter one ordered chicken tiki and one ordered chicken curry. The two veg dishes were served 30 minutes passed with several requests to serve the other two orders finally after 40 mins we asked for to go boxes for curry and masala . The server was the only one and barely spoke English. So we went to check out . i asked for manager no manager only a cook who spoke no English so server called the owner who offered 10 pct I said I could walk right out but I thin 50 pct is more agreeable as the bill was over $80 finally the owner said ok. There were other customers who came after us who got food before us. There was also a person waiting over 30 mins for door dash . As for the food very mediocre. giving me 50pct does not make up for fact that we were planning a lunch with friends we see once a year. They live in the area I don't So very bad experience read more

On my way to visit one of the beaches on Michigan lake, my sister and I stopped by Namaste India to pick up some food for the beach. We got the Chicken Biryani - great flavors but needed some more kick to it, and a Gobi Manchurian - which was actually really flavorful & tasty. They gave the Biryani with some coriander Raita and the gobi with extra rice. Yay! The food was prepared in literally 10 mins for us to pick up!! Everyone was wearing masks, & distancing. As others have mentioned, the decor is a little different but it adds to the charm. The staff is super nice, the place is clean and best of all the food is freakin amazing. We moved from the city and are SO happy this is in our new home town. They have an expansive menu and every dish is so good. Highly recommend and love this place. read more

With such an extensive menu, we all had trouble deciding on what to order; and the good news is we were all extremely satisfied with our choices. We shared an order of vegetable samosas, which were flavorful and filling. The Chana Masala was delicious, as was the Chicken Tika Masala. Let's start with the positives. The naan was fresh and delicious. The food was tasty and our #3 spice was not very spicy for our group at all. The explanation of the spice levels on the front of the menu was pretty funny and while we normally would have tested the spiciest level to see if it was an unbearable for our white people tongues as advertised, but we were sharing three dishes amongst our group so opted to go more neutral. Negatives... we should have called ahead to confirm that there was not, in fact, a buffet. We got there at 2 on a a Sunday and were the only people in the restaurant, which appeared closed. We asked for water to drink and they brought a large bottle of water for purchase. When I asked if we could just please have tap water, the server said no and walked away. I was wondering if he was claiming that the restaurant had no running water, since refusing to serve someone tap water sounds really odd. One of the plates they gave us had chunks of food on it, which we remedied ourselves by getting a clean one from the stack by the door, so who knows. Then, as I hopped up to get our water bottles from the car, my husband pointed out that there is a sign on the door declaring that no "outside water" was allowed. We ordered three dishes including a lamb dish. As our waiter was turning away from the table my husband decided to stop him to ask how the lamb was prepared. The waiter then indicated that the lamb was "finished", which we finally deciphered meant that they were out of lamb, which he apparently did not intend to tell us until perhaps we showed some knowledge of how lamb might be prepared? Our food arrived at 2:35 and the waiter informed us that they closed at 3, "so um yeah, we close at 3". Translation: please be gone in 20 minutes. Ten minutes later the waiter returned and reminded us that they would close at 3 and had us pay the bill while we were in the middle of scarfing down the food. A beer we never ordered was put on the bill. When they finally conceded that we should be refunded, he gave us too little money back, claiming that no tax had been charged. They made it right, and the food was solid (hence the 3 stars) but the whole experience was surreal, right down to the weird beach-themed ambience. read more

When in the dunes region of Indiana, when you want to eat, you think of hamburgers, cheeseburgers, pulled pork, and fried everything. You don't think of South Asian cuisine. Yet here we are. We wanted to have some Indian cuisine and found this unlikely place at the intersection of malls, fast food, and gas stations. This place is way in the back and looks pretty sorry from the outside. This place must have been a Long John Silvers as the booths have nautical names. Walk inside, and you transition to gel lighting from the 1970s and two TVs playing mirror Bollywood movies. The menu starts with what they mean by spicy in India vs. Indiana, which is quite funny. The dishes are very broad and exhaustive. We ordered pakoras, butter chicken and lavender naan (lavender naan????). All were tasty and well prepared. So, before you go to DQ across the street, start here first. read more

Stopped here looking for food on Christmas, aka Monday, so I was happy to have a place to eat that wasn't the neighboring Burger King. We went inside to order but were told they close for two hours midday which was annoying. As a result we ordered take away and ate in the car. Not my optimal dining experience. While we waited I noticed the decorations were strange (nautical/boat theme) and they have a drive through?! After we got our order and while we ate in the parking lot and noticed it was a former long john silvers restaurant which explained the decor. The vindaloo wasn't particularly hot (I had asked for medium) but a sign inside strongly indicated to me that the general population coming here thinks that white rice may be spicy, so if you want something not Indiana spicy, but actual spicy, you might want to bump it up a notch. read more

I've had quite a few dishes here and they are very good. I could go to Chicago because I am only an hour away but sometimes I want Indian without the drive and the Hartley. It's very convenient to be able to run into town or just order from DoorDash or Grubhub. The service could be a little better after you have your food but before you have it it's pretty on the spot. It's a bit startling to walk in and see the restaurant decorated like a Long John Silvers meets Hinduism. Don't let the decorations scare you, the food is better than the ambience leads you to believe. read more

This was my second visit to namaste india! Good place to have indian food when you visit Indiana sand dunes. But, today I was not very happy to be here today. Although this is a casual place and buffet costs 15 dollars per person, I atleast expect the food to kept covered and warm, which was not the case. My friend raised this concern for chicken tikka and got his food microwaved. Even when I asked for a glass for warm water they got me ice cold and upon re stating my request they avoided it and never turned up. Hence I would suggest Namaste india to take care and watch out for such minor things because to a customer they do matter a lot. read more

Ok. Ambiance...Meh. Food is amazing! We like spicy and a three fits is well. All the apps are amazing but the pakora is fantastic and worth a try. Traditional Tiki Masala is on point but be adventurous and try lamb or veggie dishes because the flavors are outstanding! They do a lot of carry out so don't let the open tables fool you - we rather eat in because we are a 20 minute drive and we love it. Slow service...so make sure you have time. I was traveling for work and always liked to either try new cuisines or Indian food when I'm traveling. Being Indian, I want to find Indian restaurants that steer away a little bit from the staple Indian foods and have something unique like chaats, dosas, or Indian street foods. I ordered Bhel Puri, Dum Aloo Gobi, and Garlic Naan. Something I didn't realize until I was eating was that when I placed the order online, there was no option to specify what the spice level should be. While I can eat spicy food, I still think there should have been an option. Overall the food was very flavorful. The Bhel was moist, but not soggy. read more

Namaste had been my go to Indian place since the day they opened . It was truly the best place to get Indian food in our area . But the service this past visit was bad! First my date said he was just standing there waiting to be seated until he grabbed two menus and seated himself . Waiter came to take order . We ordered . My date orders himself a lot of food because he wants a variety . We wait . We finally get the samosas there were two (? Picture had six ) . That was all . No water no drink . Then after another long wait , the soup and tandoori chicken came . The tandoori chicken was described as full or half chicken . This poor chicken must have lived his full or half life with no breast or white meat body parts . So the tandoori chicken was served with no sides nothing else. My date had tomato soup . The seasoning on both were off . Some bites mild others way overpowering . Again this time a much much longer wait . Finally our entrees were brought out . The chicken masala serving was tiny . Only one serving of rice was brought for both and our naan was served with this . I finally got some water ( bottled and charged for it ) after asking again. our chai was served in teacups half filled . The waiter truly disappeared for long periods of time unexpectedly. When new items were brought to the table he didn't remove anything unless we handed it to him . My date had to ask for clean plates for our entrees . Im very sad to write this review as this restaurant has been a place to go for great service and impeccable food . Not sure what happened . Btw the building needs work . The womans bathroom was lit with an office lamp that was plugged into extension cords leading from who knows where and sat by a sink . Thats definitely not safe . The table cloths were gone and no placemat , although it was dinner time we were the only diners so who knows why the service was so spotty ? and instead of getting a check our waiter just told my date the total aloud . That was strange and was the topper . My date was so upset . We don't get to go out much and he likes it to be perfect . Chicken biryani extra spicy... MY GOD.... Amazing The Garlic na'an is always on point, shrimp is always good, lamb is always super tender and flavorful... and the people here are so amazingly friendly every time we come to eat. If you haven't had Indian food- you're missing out, try it. If you have- try here; you'll agree it's head and shoulders above nearly every Indian place I've been. Priced right, and worth every penny.
