First off public service announcement all people of color do not go and spend your hard earned money in this establishment because I couldn't help but to notice how they treat people of color opposed to others saying that the food 3.2 out of 10i it was bland some stuff had flavor some stuff didn't t the service again nonexistent no one said anything to me but a bus boy, and he was of American descent The ambience didn't care for it. I felt very uncomfortable I received dirty looks. This must come to a stop I encourage all people of color not to spend their money in this establishment. It should be boycotted. read more

Service was great. Food hot and delicious. Prices reasonable. Good mood setting and decorations fitting the restaurant.

There hasn't been a review in a year and let me just say this place is PHENOMENAL. Don't let the older reviews scare you away. I couldn't even help myself before i took this picture. Everything is so good. Only 16$ too. Cannot beat it. 10/10 Recommend! read more

Great Wall Buffet - Sweet and Sour Chicken, Crab Rangoon, Bourbon Chicken, Beef Beef with Broccoli, General Tso's, Chicken Sticks, Thailand Chicken, Lo Mein - Chinese Near Me - Portage, Indiana

I got extremely sick from there. Had to be some sort of food poisoning. Been a few days and my stomach still isn't right. I've been there a few times in the past and liked their variety but also had a similar issue once before with my stomach but gave them one more chance because wasn't for sure it was from there. Will never go back. And the place overall is not clean (restaurant, bathroom) read more

The buffet was below ok. The toilets in the ladies room were spotless, but the bathroom stall walls and light switch were filthy black. Looked like years of dirt. I didn't want to even touch the handle to let myself out I felt like I was in a old roadside gas station bathroom. 20 min after eating, I was sick. I will never eat at the Great Wall Buffet ever again. read more

It was our 1st time here and I will say it was pretty good. Not packed for a week day. Got seated immediately and the server was nice. Food was good. Me and the family tried mostly everything. The food was hot and fresh. If they were low on something they brought out a fresh batch. The refills kept coming and the the waitress was always checking on us. The location was in a great spot and the parking was convenient. Clean place I give them that. Husband and child enjoyed it because the vegetables were fresh and tasty. I'll be back again. Not to many buffets have great food like this place. The ambiance was cool and casual. read more

The food wasn't great I don't know if they change the oils but I got sick and want to let everyone know I wouldn't recommend this place I reported them but nothing was don't about it me and my husband got sick...food poison is no joke.. read more

I found a WORM IN MY SALMON. I told the waitress...who apologized and told me "so sorry. We get big boxes of salmon." She then took the wormy plate to a man who made an angry face at me and started yelling. Then she brought me the bill. read more

We do take-out here because buffets gross me out. It's hit or miss on the food. The pot stickers are pretty good as long as they don't burn them. The Teriyaki chicken is delicious, but sometimes you will get one that is practically a stick of grisle and fat covered in teriyaki sauce. My family says the lo mein and rice combinations are good. I guess it depends on your idea of good Chinese and if you happen to get a good order here. read more

Great Wall Buffet - Restaurant front. - Chinese Near Me - Portage, Indiana

We stopped in because it was the nearest sit down Chinese near our hotel. The service & cleanliness of the place is 5s but the food is sub par. Nothing authentic. Everything tastes the same & is over cooked. Typical buffet issues only with Chinese food. Everything tastes stale, including the ice cream & fortune cookie. Such a huge disappointment. Please save your hard earned money for real Chinese food. read more

Rating Woohoo! As good as it gets! They have reopened as take out only for now. I had almost forgotten how good it was, now it seems even better! Hot, crispy sesame chicken, fresh broccoli, amazing egg foo young, steamed dumplings that are as good as eating candy! This is a family owned and operated restaurant that is working hard to provide really good food at a reasonable price. They have invested time and money while they were down by installing all new, bright , shiney flooring. People and places like this deserve our support. I am so happy to see them open again. Please support them, you'll be glad you did. read more

Yeah yeah, buffets are buffets, but I love this place. Don't expect the best food because I'm sure it sits in the steam table for a while, but they do have variety. The items range from Americanized Chinese food to typical american fare, and on some days at a higher price they have seafood specials including crab legs. Definitely nothing incredible, but if you want to gorge yourself on Chinese food until you're about to puke at a reasonable price, try it out. read more

食物很好. I had chow mei fun and vegetables. It was very good. If you have not tried this I would suggest you do. This is a very thin rice noodle mixed with some vegetables. It is more healthy than fried food such as sweet and sour chicken or fried rice. Also more healthy than egg or wheat noodles and should be gluten free if not cooked with other food having wheat. They also have some other steam veggies in their buffet. Staff is friendly too. read more

Great Wall Buffet - the front of the restaurant - Chinese Near Me - Portage, Indiana

Gross. Overpriced. The wait staff was friendly, but all the food was either underseasoned, too cold, or too hot. Worst crawfish I have ever had ANYWHERE. You can't charge $12 a person for $4 food. I've had Chinese food MILES BETTER in the Southwest, where I'm from. read more

Probably the best chineese buffet I ever had. The variety is great, and there was nothing that groosed me out. The price was 10.50. The only thing i didnt like was the sushi... but we all know where to go to get good sushi : ) read more

It's a typical Chinese buffet and I've tried basically everything and wasn't impressed at all. I've had a lot better. I liked it better when it was just a regular restaurant. read more

This is one of the best Chinese restaurants in North America. The owners changed in 2016 , the new management has kept up the great food tradition that I have loved for the past 15 years. Come and see for yourself. read more

Atmosphere was nice and food was hot. Best crab Rangoon ever. Wish they had a bigger selection of sushi but what they had was nice. Overall, we were happy with our selection. I wish Yelp reviews were better because we almost missed this little gem. read more

This is one of the worst restaurants I have ever been to. As soon as you walk in the smell of dead fish hits you. The buffet is large. But everything tastes the same. Beef and broc, orange chicken, sesame chicken. Dude, what's with the stuffed crab in clam shells. But wait. It's stuffed with chicken? The rib meat tasted like beef jerky. I tried to be safe and not eat any of the fish, including the stinky crab legs. The jello was so hard you couldn't even cut it with a fork. I was up all night, and I can eat rocks with no problem. I will never write about another chinese buffet because this is the last time I set foot in one. read more

It's a decent place to eat. It will fill you up and has a wide variety. If you like dynasty you will like Great Wall. Same shit basically. But I hate they took out the crab legs. That's why I came here all the time. Sad read more

Ok This was bad. I know its a buffet but please. They have quite a bit of an assortment of bland and tasteless food. I was hungry so I kept trying but it just was not happening. I cannot saying anything else. Just drive by and hope you don't get a stomach ache just looking at the place. read more

If I could give this place a -5 I would... Horrible service and the food was disgusting. Tasted like it was made with reused, old oil and the chicken did not taste nor feel like chicken. Nothing about the food was fresh at all! The waitress was so incredibly rude literally throwing our silverware and drinks on the table and when I asked her a question she answered with an attitude. Never will I ever waste my time there again... What an awful experience... read more

We ordered takeout through their online site. It was ready when I picked it up about 15 minutes later. The man at the counter was nice. My food was delicious. The rangoons had a delicious flavor but weren't as crisp as I thought they would be. Maybe because they were put in the bag when they were hot. Not a huge deal. I will be returning and using their online system to order again. Perhaps even try the buffet as I haven't been to a really good Chinese buffet in many years. Thank you! read more

I ate here a few times and had the same issue like a lot of the other reviews here. Bad stomach ache... and that says a lot because I have an iron stomach. Friendly staff, though! read more

I would say it's a decent place to eat but not the best. There isn't as much of a variety as I'd like and it is definitely hit or miss on the food. They occasionally have a stray gnat or two hovering around which is a total turn-off. D absolutely loves this place though I'm sure there are better choices. But since he likes it, I've frequented GWB more than I normally would like. But I usually find one or two things that are okay to eat. The servers are always smiling which is a positive. I think my title of top check-in at GWB is SAFE for the time being...LOL. read more

That's the worst place to get Chinese food, Thai chicken smelled like sour dish water, it just opened a few years ago and it is horrible!!! The waitress is evil slamming drinks down on the tabke!! I called the health department because I put something in my mouth from a stir fry that I did not recognize!!!! Don't go there!!! read more

The 2 stars is because the food didnt make me sick, but I will say I did not ENJOY the food, if you know what I mean.. I only came here once, but the food here is average at best. Nothing at all wowed me. The atmosphere can be describe as a dinghy, hole in the wall type of place, only the food wasnt good. I would not go back and would rather get takeout somewhere else than go to this buffet. read more
