I have fond childhood memories of the wok & rolls that used to be in the Chicago area and their great fried rice so when I saw this one I couldn't help, but try it out. I got an orange chicken special, but to my dismay it only came with yellow rice (I forgot they don't come with fried rice by default.) the food is at least presented well although the portions are much smaller than you'd typically get at these types of restaurants... especially for the price I paid. The orange chicken was crunchy and dry with very little taste of orange in it if at all. The rice was not bad and I'd argue better than white rice, but nowhere near the level of fried rice. It was a decent meal, but I doubt I'll go back for seconds and will stick with just the fried rice in the future (if it is still what I remember.) I definitely can see why these places closed down though. Wok & Roll was always pricey and didn't bring much to the table outside of their fried rice. read more

Ordered for my wife's birthday and I have to say that I was disappointed with her food. She ordered the pineapple chicken with extra chicken... she asked me to taste it to see what I thought. I took a fork full of seemed like nothing but rice. When I finally found some chicken, it had no pineapple flavor whatsoever. My order was the beef and broccoli which was delicious but like my wife's, I ordered extra beef and it seemed pretty skimpy. We ordered egg rolls, she had a shrimp and I had a pork one. Of what I noticed, she ate it but never commented on it. My pork one was pretty disappointing. Fortune cookies were good. read more

My wife and I usually order over thene on our way to laporte to ays and Saturdays and me being from new york city they come the closest to to good Chinese food and my wife is very picky and feels they are pretty good but we fell back because the steak in her pepper steak was partially cooked with many pieces of the steak still raw.I always either get chicken fried rice or beef fried rice with fried chicken wings...today I just ordered fried chicken wings which I sometimes do and my wings were not cooked throughly. I always trusted them with my food so I ate some without looking because I was driving but when I got to another piece I could automatically see that it was not fully cooked and on top of that the skin was soft not crispy it was like the oil was boiling instead of frying!!! Sweet and sour chicken...chicken was greasy as heck and the sweet and sour...where is the pineapple onion and peppers??? Fried rice...horrid. First off its yellow...YELLOW and bland bland bland. Nothing but dry yellow rice with no seasoning and no veg. Chicken was precooked and you could tell it. Shrimp was in there but it was just awful. Me and my wife love this place its completely affordable just dont order the deliver through 3rd party deliver apps like grub hub or doordash because they charge if not double the cost almost double anyways the food is fantastic and when we receive it its always hot and delicious use their service and tip their delivery personnel they deserve it. read more

We used to go to this restaurant before we moved to New Jersey 12 years ago. We loved it, couldn't wait to go again when we moved back here to LaPorte. I am sorry to say, this is NOT the same. The food is horrible now! We actually threw most of it in the garbage. Could not eat it, yes it was that bad. Not exactly sure what the meat was in the Beef Lo Mein, but it was not beef! Worst Chinese food I have had, ever! I ordered lo mein and it was ok, but it came with half the container filled with some kind of flavorless, yellow rice. Definitely not fried rice, white rice, or saffron favored rice (which would not be a Chinese side dish). The other order was for Hunan Beef. It should have been Hunan Onions--I had to throw away a plate full of onions and found very little beef. The cost was higher than other places, too. Chicken Lo Mein was the special --it must have had a special high price. Thus was my first time to the Wok & Roll and it will absolutely be my last . We eat Chinese food regularly. Best Chinese food anywhere in the area, I order from here all the time, usually order the sweet n sour chicken, chicken lo mein (no veggies), and chicken on a stick. ALOT of food for the money, I could easily feed three or four people and have some left over! (I know because I have, and that includes two teenagers!) only complaint I have is the last couple times I have ordered it the chicken on a stick was kinda dry, sorta jerky-ish. I have eaten here maybe 15 times, and it's usually pretty good. That is the only reason I give it two stars. Tonight, my food was 100% inedible. The rice was mush, the orange chicken was so dry and burnt, and the crab ragoon was fried to a crisp, and the insides rubbery. It was absolutely awful and all went into the trash. Wok N' Roll has the best Chinese food in La Porte. I really love their pineapple chicken, plain lo mein, and chicken on a stick. The wait time is usually 15-20 minutes. There is some seating in the building, so you can actually dine in. The cost is very low, and the portions are quite large. The kitchen is visible and appears quite clean and organized. read more
