It only took about 15 minutes for my pickup order, so that was convenient, as it took me about eight minutes to get there. The woman who served me was friendly and gave plates, which was another convenience, since this was a car meal for me. The Large Orange Chicken I order was great. It wasn't too chewy and it had a nice glazed sauce. The size of the Large order was reasonable. The Large Chicken Fried Rice was awesome! It had tasty vegetables in it that really enhanced the flavor. I also got a Vegetable Egg Roll. It had a nicely-done batter to it. I'm very picky about my Egg Rolls, so for me to give a compliment, you should definitely grab one with your order! They gave us a White Rice with our order. It was good for me and it wasn't too sticky. Overall, this place is great and I'll definitely be back for more! Date of Purchase: 10/25/2021 read more

I've been supporting this business for over 20 years. It went from sit down restaurant to now carry out. The food is still very delicious the restaurant is clean and staff is friendly read more

My husband and I have been going here for 25+ years. We've seen at 3 family owners. The service and food was consistent, affordable and great. The dine in was comfortable. The ambiance was like most Chinese restaurants. The guy who owns it now since right before the pandemic is the worst owner. He has zero personality. He isnt friendly at all. He permanently closed the dining room to not pay employees. He has changed the recipes for the menu. Huge difference in the taste AND portions. We bought szechurn beef and pork. Each had 4 small TINY pieces of meat. The dish is generally spicy. There was zero spice. When calling to share our complaint he said "ok" and hung up. He offered no apology or explanation. We will NEVER spend our money here again. We will discourage all of our friends and family from patronizing. Sad because after a 25+ years we refuse to come back. read more

Just pick up order was completely wrong. I ordered two appetizers of the barbecue beef when I get there she didn't even have them wrote down and instead it get home I only have one order of the barbecue pork which I didn't even order will not be getting my business again thanks a lot read more

Delicious. Great service it's negative 13 right now and I got the mei fun and it warmed me up. Thank you.

It's now carry out only no dine in service. My food that I ordered was good the chicken and broccoli was delicious but the shrimp fried rice didn't have enough shrimp in the rice for me, maybe next time I'll pay for extra shrimp in my fried rice. Egg rolls are still delicious. read more

First time here and last. Beef Chop suey bland and beef was tough and stale. Same for the pepper steak. Eggdrop soup also bland. BBQ pork fried rice very sticky and not much flavor. read more

Couldn't wait to get home to post this. I've never in my life seen a restaurant charge for cutlery even if I did ask for CHOP STICKS. I was so shocked that maybe because I'm not Asian that I shouldn't be able to eat with chop stick with out PAYING $.25 but I can have a fork for free. Until this rude policy is changed I won't be eating there again. How dare you. Your not in a Asian populated community. Feel free to apologize. That was rude. All black people don't eat with forks all the time. No stars read more

Great place, employee's are very polite and service is fast! Favorite two dishes are the general tso's chicken and general tso's beef and the egg rolls here are the best, I love the taste of peanut oil. read more

Good food. Very quick. I ordered the chicken egg foo young, OK the beef fried rice, not bad and the eggrolls average.

Not as good as it used to be. First of all, when I walked in to pick up my to go order, I was hit with a very bad stench that reminded me of dead animals or a skunk. The food tasted just OK but the sauce was so salty and unpleasant that I actually rinsed my food through a colander to reduce it. I used to love this place years ago but I will never get it again. read more

The service here today was terrible and the older blonde white lady. Was so disrespectful when taking our order that we got up payed for are eggrolls and Tea. Will not be if this older White Lady is there. read more

Best egg rolls this side of China. Before covid you could sit down inside and have your meal. Now it's carry out only.

Love this place. Their Won Ton soup and shrimp fried rice and egg rolls. And shrimp anything so good.

Just ordered some beef chop suey and it was good, but like everyone else, their jacking up their prices

This is definitely the best Chinese place in NWI. It's a nice sit down restaurant, great food and nice decor and friendly staff. I don't come here as much as I'd like to since I live further away. But if you want some great food, this is a great place. read more

Very fond memories of going here during my childhood. Now living in Miami, I have yet to find a Chinese restaurant that can compare. They really know how to make my favorites items - the egg rolls, combination fried rice, and shrimp egg foo young. read more

Lung Wah Restaurant - The best special egg foo young - Chinese Near Me - Hammond, Indiana

Haven't had any Chinese Food in a very long time. Have to say this place was good. Friendly service and the wait for take out was not bad. All in all, I give this place four stars. By the way, the egg rolls are to die for! read more

Got the eggroll and Gen. Taos lunch special. Good price but sad eggroll and the chicken was very bad. Meat was dry and rubbery (not sure of meat cut). It's very near, so I may have to go back and try something beefish. read more

Hands down best Chinese restaurant in the area! Great food, great service,HUGE portions and the drinks are amazing! Two words needed MAI TAI!!!!!!!!! All you need is one of those and will only cost you $4! read more

First off let me put my bias out in the open: I have an unbridled affection for tiki culture and tiki bars. The kitschy retro decor, the faux grass huts, the strange glazed mugs often featuring shrunken heads, moai statues or girls with improbable breasts on surfboards, I love all of it. Lung Wah is a place that I love to go drinking. If you show up in a loud Hawaiian shirt and a fez, Steve behind the bar will meet you with a smile. Then happily serve up destruction in the form of a Scorpion Bowl for you, right after he lights it on fire. The drinks are the real center show here, and they are staple examples of the tiki breed. Foodwise this is the typical 'Asian' cuisine with a more south pacific "how many crabs and coconuts can we put into everything" vibe, and in all honestly if the food were better I'd give it five stars. But really after a few rum runners, the idea of 'deep fried and greasy' becomes distinctly appealing, as the savory fare pairs up well with the often sweet drinks. Karaoke night offers excellent people watching opportunities! read more

I really like this restaurant. There aren't very many Chinese restaurants that are consistently good. The only reason I am not giving the 5 stars is because I always order Singapore Noodles but with out the curry, however, it could be less dry. I have had it with more of something whether it he oil, butter sauce, or some type of wetness to it. They are so good but a little more sauce would be better. read more

I used to appreciate this restaurant until I saw how they treated one of their loyal customers. If this is how they write out a bill for a customer, I don't want no parts of their service. Lung Wah Restaurant - This is a bill that Lung Wah served to one of their customers. The customer has a bad eye and this is the way they wrote out her bill. - Chinese Near Me - Hammond, Indiana

If I could give zero stars I would. I have never been treated so horribly in my life. I ordered shrimp with lobster sauce- when I received the order I tasted it and asked if there was any meat other than seafood (because I thought I'd chewed on some) and the waitress said no. I ate a little more and turns out there was meat! I asked her again and showed her the meat I'd chewed up.. she then asked the owner (presumably) and the owner said no, that's when they investigated further and I could hear them saying there was meat.. pork at that! Without asking me they began preparing another dish. By this time we were almost done with our other items (egg rolls and crab Rangoon and rice). I told her I didn't want it because we were almost done, they said they could wrap it up and I said no because We are on our way to Iowa passing through and certainly didn't want to take such a dish to go! That's why we'd come in to dine in the first place. I sat back down waiting for my check and began to feel sick. I haven't eaten meat in YEARS- that's when I heard them arguing about the fact that they wanted to charge me for the dish. I went up and asked for my check, the owner screamed at me (although I had not raised my voice a bit) and told me I was going to have to take the dish with me and pay for it! I was appalled. I told her that I hadn't eaten the dish and that I certainly wasn't paying for something that had meat in it when the menu said nothing of the sort. She caused a scene in front of customers. She even began to ignore me and help others leaving me standing there wondering how to proceed. Finallly her husband came out and told the waitress not to charge me. The owners were so rude to me and embarrassed me in front of customers. I get very sick when I eat meat so this is why I stopped in the first place, I can't believe I was treated this way simply because I couldnt eat meat. This is not how you do business and they should be ashamed of themselves. The dish was under seafood and said NOTHING about pork; how was I suppose to know it had anything but seafood? This is bait and switch at its finest! They scared my children and stressed me out a great deal. Not to mention the stomach ache I have form eating meat. Moreover, in general the food was mediocre at best and the restaurant is dirty. Overall this place is disgusting and the management is horrible- I would not advise anyone to eat here. Poor waitress, she was so nice and this is not her fault- I feel sorry for her! She was scared that they would fire HER for this- SHAME ON THEM! read more

I love this place. I have been eating here for years. Great food. Best egg rolls around. Can't beat the lunch prices.

I've been eating at lung wah since I was 7 years old. Hands down the best fried rice in Indiana. I live almost 150 miles away now but every time I'm in Hammond I have to stop by and get some. Their other menu items are just ok but the fried rice is awesome! read more

I order too twice from this place . I really didn't care for it the 1st time but my husband insist to try it out again. Big mistake ! Food is horrible Flavor is off. Sauce is runny and has a horrible taste to it. I order sweet and sour chicken on my first visit and orange chicken on my second visit. No both were bad. I will NOT give my business to them again . read more

I have been a patron of Lung Wah since the early 80s when they were very small and had only five or six dine-in-tables. The food is as good as, or in many cases, better than, any I have eaten, and I have eaten in many Chinese restaurants in Chicago. The people who have given bad reviews must have no (or badly damaged) taste buds. Do not be put off by them! read more

Absolutely the WORST food, not just Chinese food, I have ever had! The food was mushy and tasteless. I had to drench my food in sweet and sour, which was 10cents a package, for any flavor. The woman behind the counter stared at me for 5 minutes before someone else came to help me. To top it off, When I opened my box, my order was wrong. The Richie Rich vase in the lobby was the only thing worth seeing in that restaurant. read more

I enjoy this restaurant a lot. Their mixed drinks are amazing and cheap at $2.50. The food is great quality and I always dine in. Great service & value, especially when you get Henry as a waiter. I truly recommend this restaurant. I will continue to go back. read more

I don't think I've had Chinese food that tasted this bad ever before. I only ate it because I was driving on a 16 Hour Rd. trip from Colorado, but I wouldn't recommend it to anybody who enjoys good Chinese food because this just is not it. Of course because it was my first time I may not know if this is a consistent issue but hey this was my first impression and I was not pleased at all my girlfriend decided to take one bite and that was about it. Frozen White Castle was much better read more

Lung Wah has some of the best Chinese in the northwest region of Indiana. The egg rolls are deliciously flavord and actually have a variety of vegetables, not just stuffed with cabbage & mystery meat. All of their entrees are prepared fresh & you know your eating real chicken & beef. The shrimp fried rice is also a favorite. read more

Horrible. Tasteless attempt at Chinese food. I was a walk-in carryout order. My order was $26; I waited about 20-25 minutes, but I was OK with the time. While waiting a listened to a phone apology for forgetting part of an order. I watched the order taker run out to a car because he was not sure if he gave out the correct order and he brought the order back into the restaurant while the customer waited outside. He took the order to the back and then re-tagged. Eventually my order came and my grandchildren wanted me to buy some chop sticks- so I did, .80 cents. Once I got home and prepared the to plate the meal, I realized my large shrimp egg foo young was missing. I called and he checked with the back and came back to the phone and said I could come back and pick up later and asked me for my name to receive the credit. I would first like to say, I have always enjoyed this restaurant my husband and I loved to come and dine-in. Today, the food was horrible. The soup lacked flavor, the egg rolls were beautifully wrapped, but tough. The shrimp fried rice was light in color and flavor, however the sweet and sour chicken was acceptable. More importantly the shrimp egg foo young was missing. After we finished the meal, I went back to the restaurant to receive my refund for the missing food. I was advised that their policy was not to refund food. But, I never received the food. They have no written policy and this was only stated to me when I went back to get my refund. I argued with him (which is out of my character), I explained he was stealing from me and he said take the food or a credit for something else. I left with nothing, because I no longer wanted the food ( I had finished my meal). Of, course I will never visit this restaurant again. I will tell all of my friends about the poor service, Buyer beware!!!! I will file a complaint with the BBB and will consider a police report for defrauding me. read more
