Ordered takeout several times but this was our first sit down at the restaurant. Upon walking in reminded me of Christmas Story when they have Christmas dinner at a Chinese place. Very clean, dated but you can definitely tell it's a family run place. Huge menu and it's a plus that the first 3 pages are pictures of many dishes. Shocked to see Wonton Egg Drop soup. It was great. We split crab Rangoons and they were very crispy. Not greasy at all. We also shared a curry chicken platter. Seemed fresh and very tasty. Alittle bit too much onions but there were fresh carrots and snow peas in it. Overall, cute setting, good food and great prices. 2 of us eat for $25.00 and very pleased. read more

This is a fairly new restaurant (May 2012). We were the only people there on a Friday afternoon at 1pm, but I suspect it's because it was past the lunch rush and before the "supper" rush. The food was pretty good considering it's the only Asian food in the Cedar Lake area. The pot stickers were so-so; meat tasted like chicken but looked dark.. possibly from seasonings and such. I had the Singapore Rice Noodle, which was excellent! I've had this dish at many Chinese restaurants, and this was probably one of the best versions I've ever had; I definitely recommend this to everyone. My aunt had Bean Curd Home-style. It was also very good, but the tofu (bean curd) was deep fried before adding it to the rest of the dish. Next time there we'll have them sauteé the tofu with the rest of the dish instead. The restaurant was very clean and the staff were helpful and courteous. We'll definitely become regulars here. C'mon people of Cedar Lake, go eat some Chinese food and keep this place in business! read more

I literally made a yelp account because of this restaurant so I can warn anyone thinking about ordering. The fried rice was soggy and GROSS. Also ordered Singapore Noodles which I was told on the phone had chicken, shrimp, and pork. I think I found one small piece of chicken, and I can't tell if I'm eating pork or egg as the other meat in here. Had to stop eating my food bc it was just awful. I was so disappointed. I had tofu ( bean curd) with vegetables. It was not edible because the tofu had the texture of dry styrofoam. When asking for brown rice I got fried rice. One of my sisters had the beef with respectables and one hit the chicken with mixed vegetables and overall we're disappointed The waitress did nothing to respond to my complaint about the dried out, styrofoam textured tofu. This might be the best place in the area for Chinese food - only because it's the ONLY place to get Chinese food in the area! There was only one waitress (probably the owner's wife) and her small son (6 - 8 years) working the floor, so service was not so good. The poor girl was running her butt off just to get people taken care of. I was afraid to ask what there was for dessert because of the time it would take to get her back to my table, and then get the dessert to me. It was so cold in the restaurant that I didn't want to spend any more time in there! I sat in there the whole time with my winter coat on and my hands freezing. The food was not all that bad; a good quantity of the entre, but only a small bowl of white rice to go with it. If you really wanted more rice it could've been purchased, but with rice as inexpensive as it is they should have given it proportionate to the entre. Had a dinner with my two oldest sons , we each order an entree , an order of Fried Rice for the table and usually a few appetizers. This evening 4-3-19 , we had , General Tso , Green bell pepper Beef and Kung Pao Chicken . A Chicken Fried Rice , egg drop soups, egg rolls and steamed dumplings . We enjoyed the entrees and the appetizers came out so quickly I think they knew we were coming . All three entrees were pretty standard , as in , if you like the dish you'll like their version . Egg rolls were bulk stock and not made in house , which would be a plus with just a little effort . All in all it was a good , solid dinner . We left full and happy with buddha bellies . Convenient in town and accessible on 133rd and Parrish , nearly in the Stracks parking lot . Swing in for a take out order on the way home ? Everyone in the family will be able to pick something they like from the huge menu . The dining room was noticeably clean and the serving plates and bowls are fancy . We are a family that is very particular about our Chinese food. It is our standard Monday night order and with us just recently moving from a town with 5 Chinese places, we had very high expectations. Menu options are expansive - they have everything including some items you don't find everywhere like fried scallops. I am not going to review all of their menu items but I will do the basics. Egg rolls - standard size and not too chubby. Average amount of meat vs cabbage. Not too gingery, which I like. Only one comes in an order. White Rice/Fried Rice - very good - large is a large portion. Mongolian Beef - good amount of spice, you need to ask for the cruchy noodles. Sweet and sour chicken - Chicken is smaller with not a lot of breading - can tend to be a little tough. The sauce is very gelitan-y, if that's a thing - almost like it needs to be heated up a bit more. Crab Rangoon - Meh. Have had much better - only 3-4 per order and its mostly fried dough. Pan fried noodles - hard as rocks. The best part - this is a family run business. Dad cooks. Mom cooks and works the front. Their son and daughter can be found in the dinning area, cute as can be, offering to help, getting sauce packets, coloring, watching Japanese cartoons, etc. Its the cutest thing. In fact, if I go in, and I am not greeted by a small child, I get slightly disappointed just because they are so cute - its like they are playing restaurant, and we are all a part of their fun day at work with mom and dad. The best part is when I am waiting for my food and someone that is new the restaurant comes in and the little boy is behind the counter and is pretending to work there and asked for their name and order... its awesome. Yes, the service is subpar & food is OK. Being Chinese, I've had better (of course). But being a son of immigrants that owned a Chinese restaurant for over 20 years, I just feel for them. You are there 24/7. Their kids are at the restaurant because they probably cannot afford childcare. The son helps run the register & is the host. Just another prospective.
