The best Vietnamese Restaurant In northwest Indiana just got better with an expanded dining room. Still the finest Pho savory noodle soup dishes, the most delicious Banh Mi sandwiches, excellent noddle and rice offerings. Eating healthy with the freshest ingredients is available here. Hardworking friendly owners that provide wonderful food at very reasonable prices make this place a diamond in the rough of Hammond Indiana. I find it fast and easy to order food that arrives promptly via the use of my food that one accesses the menu via one's camera after being focused on a QR Code on their dining tables. Likewise old school photo menus are available that one can read off of can be used to place one's order to a server as well. The place has expanded into the building next door to meet the needs of the demands of its very loyal customer base. If you're not one of their loyal customers, it's most likely because you haven't tried them yet. I would have posted a review of this place long ago but I've waited until now as I didn't want to wait for a table which was a common occurrence prior to them enlarging thier dining room. I've been hearing a lot about this place so I wanted to try it for myself. I purchased the Taro tea which was delicious. I also had the salt and pepper shrimp which to me was more like shrimp fajitas, but it was tasty and lastly, I also had the shrimp cake sandwich. There were a couple little pieces of shrimp cake in there and that was OK. I would like to try more of their dishes, so I will definitely be back to try something else. read more

Every time I come here, I order the coconut cream coffee with Boba. It is absolutely delicious!! today I tried the fried wontons and the pork eggrolls. Both crispy and delish!! I haven't been in there in a while, but I see they've updated their dining room and I can't wait to dine in for scrumptious cuisine as well. It's very cute and cozy. read more

Stopped by after a Sunday worship day. Let's start with the wait staff- ummm I know they are extremely busy but it's a hit or miss. Not sure if the bus boys are servers or a combination of the two but you can wait several minutes before your order is taken. I noticed before being seated that the baseboards are filthy!! Yuck! I have included photos something tells me that the kitchen is filthy but I'm going to keep going. Now, when the pho in which I ordered came it was really flavorful. However; I ordered chicken and shrimp and was told by two different wait staff that crab meat was an extra $5. Okay, I think I'll be able to afford it! Jeesh ! Anyway, it was good but I thought this additional charge was for real crab not imitation crab meat. I also ordered the crab Rangoon that was good. I stopped by the expanded Asian Kitchen the other day. My favorite Viet dish, Bun Tom Nuong, was not on the menu, but the waiter said it would not be problem to make. Minutes later, large than expected Bun Tom Nuong was delivered to me. The entre was as delicious as any I have ever eaten. The kitchen has a wide variety of other Viet foods that I have not been able to find anywhere in NW Indiana. I highly recommend the Asian Kitchen for anyone who loves Viet food. read more

Updated 2025 review: still one of my favorite places in all of NW Indiana to eat! Asian Kitchen has cut down their menu this year to focus on authentic Vietnamese cuisine. My absolute favorite is the Veggie Noodle Soup (Pho Rau Cai). It is a full hearty meal and everything is always very fresh. The vegetarian Banh Mi Chay is also one of my go-to's. Really you can't go wrong here. Note that Asian Kitchen is pretty small with just 8 tables. It fills fast for lunch at noon, but the waits aren't bad and are worth it. They also offer carry out which stays consistent throughout the lunch hour. read more

This was one of the worst service experiences I've had. There were two servers, a younger one and an older one, and the issue was entirely with the older server. He brought the wrong food to our table once, but what made it worse was what happened after. He took the food from our table, realized the mistake, and instead of taking it back to the kitchen, he placed it on the table next to us. He did this twice--taking items from our table and moving them to another table. At one point, he grabbed garnishes/condiments that were meant for a pho dish--items that had already been touched by us--and gave them to the table next to us instead of replacing them with fresh ones. That was extremely unsanitary and honestly disgusting. On top of that, he yelled at the younger server about the mistake in front of customers, which was very unprofessional. Overall, the whole situation was handled poorly and left a very bad impression. read more

This used to be my favorite place to get Asian food in Indiana. I haven't been here much lately because the last two times the food was made poorly. I decided to give them another chance and was met with overcooked and/or old spring rolls and dumplings. It was a Saturday and not very busy at all. Not sure I will return. This place is pretty good. It's small on the inside but there's room to dine if you get there at the right time. I went close to close and they were slammed. The ambiance of the small restaurant is surreal. I stepped into a small space and the tables were filled with happy customers. The staff pointed me to the only table left. You place your order on a tablet. A big piping hot bowl of beef pho arrived some time later. Condiments are already on the table. And utensils and to go containers are close by. The staff is cooking because it's busy. I enjoyed the flavor of the broth and fresh vegetable. The beef was thick large strips. I did think the beef was dry and tasteless. I ate and ate. The pho hit the spot. I was driving from Illinois to Michigan. I had already plotted a lunch break here. If I weren't looking for this spot, I would have passed it. But in this small town inside were people of different races. The staff was helpful and were in full time mode to serve its customers. I think this is the best Asian food I've ever had. It was made to order and SO delicious. I don't live in Hammond but I want to eat here every day haha. The service was great! She was one of two people serving but was attentive and personable. It's a smaller place so I'm sure it gets filled easily but we didn't have a problem finding a spot. Great food, every time. We discovered this place a few years ago and come to eat every week. Everything on the menu is delicious, especially their Pho & sandwiches. Food is full of flavor and love. If you're feeling sick, the pho will clear you right up. If you're cold, the pho will warm you up. If it's a hot summer day, you will still crave their pho. Really cute place. Friendly service. Reasonable prices. And tasty food. I had pho because I like to taste the broth as a gauge for the quality of a new Vietnamese restaurant. The broth was, after just a little doctoring with sriracha and hoisin, was quite tasty. The noodles were a bit clumpy, but I'll go back to give them another shot. I love Vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, etc., but find limited options when i am in Hammond for business. We love Asian Kitchen whenever we're visiting Northwest Indiana! It's a small restaurant with a big menu and everything is delicious. I always want to try something new, but I'm a creature of habit and the pho tai nam is too good to pass up. I did try the Vietnamese coconut coffee this time, and you absolutely have to get it! Excellent food! Closest you could get for authentic for Northwest Indiana!!! Usually we go to the Northside of to get food that tastes like home. Discovered this gem while trying to find a banh mi place out here. The other few Vietnamese restaurants out in this area don't even add pate to their sandwiches, which is a big part of it. Not the greatest pics, but everything was amazing and full of flavor! The restaurant is typical shop style, not super formal. Quick and easy place to get an amazing bite to eat. My absolute favorite restaurant! I'm here probably once every week or once every other week. You can tell that they put a lot of care into their food, and provide very authentic Asian dishes.
