The food here delicious. There is no mistaking that, HOWEVER as of today and the writing of this review (10/30/2024) the prices (listed on their Google menu site) are OUTRAGEOUSLY expensive. Chicken and waffles is $28 A half chicken is $22 Half rack of ribs is $39 WHICH EXCLUDES THE SIDES!!!! Go down the street to a Southern BBQ place known as C &G's Smoking Barbecue and you'll see: Whole slab of ribs $28.50 Whole chicken $20 And sides are also additional but only $2-3 each. Revival's food is very good, but there are other MUCH more affordable and just as good options out there. I was going to end on a play-on-words... but what's the opposite of the word Revival??? It's too scary to type...
Revival is such a solid restaurant. I can't believe I've lived here for as long as I have without trying it. FOOD: I got the chicken plate with white meat. It comes with coleslaw and cornbread. It was very good, although I envied the choice of the brisket or pulled pork plate/platter. I overlooked these other options because sometimes the meat isn't that great, but here it looked incredible. AMBIANCE: it's a small, cozy, comfortable restaurant. Good for time with friends, a date, or a work meal. There was one table in the sun all evening and of course that was ours (so steer clear of that around sunset) but otherwise was great. PARKING: they have a small lot and there's street parking nearby SERVICE: a little slow but friendly and helpful.
The food was SO GOOD! I'm from Alabama and just moved here and been LOOKING for a place to get some soul food. Everything was 5 stars except maybe the collard greens. But everyone else on the table loved their chicken and waffles and sides. The Mac and cheese was perfect! The drink was refreshing and chicken was seasoned . Will definitely be coming back!
Brisket GAS. Such wonderful flavors. We tried a little of everything. The biscuits were moist. The chicken was slap yo momma tender. The drinks were unmatched. The service was amazing and the vibes were beaming.
My friends described our brunch with words like these: "some of the best fried chicken I've had in the cities," "I would make a meal of just those biscuits," and "my bbq pulled pork sandwich had bones or cartilage or something in it." Personally, I had the chicken and waffles, and fair enough, the chicken was on the bone. I didn't expect that but it was tasty (even at $21). We also had cocktails which were very yummy. The server was really cool and very kind with recommendations. We were shocked to find the place mostly empty on a Sunday morning- could have been the snow. I should warn you about the music, in case you're someone who cares, it was filled with profanity. Some folks might not want to hear songs about pu**y while eating breakfast. /shrug/ All this to say I'll def be back. The food and atmosphere were bomb.
Southern cooking is the reason to check out Revival. The weather didn't allow outdoor seating yet so we cozied up in the dining area. Liked the welcoming vibe. Good mixture of date night and groups of friends at the tables. Since this was my first time here, I had to choose the chicken dinner, southern fried, white meat. It came with slaw and a corn bread muffin. Loved the batter on the chicken. The chicken was so moist and juicy. Great meal. Husband had the pork shoulder sandwich. It was also excellent. Great flavor on the pork and he loved the KC sweet BBQ sauce. It did not come with sides so he ordered a shareable side of Mac n cheese. It had a nice crispy crust on top and lots of cheese and cork screw noodles. Since it was happy hour, we started with some $5 cheese curds. They had a sprinkle of honey on them. Had not had them served like that before and it was a fun option. I would love to give a 5 rating but I knocked down one because my wine pour was a bit ridiculous. I would be surprised if there was even 5oz of wine in the glass for a happy hour price of $11. I also had a blood orange margarita and that was not only beautiful but also very tasty. Parking was on street. There is a lot that currently fits 4 cars. Service was good. Note there is a service fee of 6% that is not part of tip.
Wow wow wow. As to be expected, Revival has done it yet again with their newest addition Revival Smoked Meats. A beautiful, open and bright space with a gorgeous outdoor patio. Lots of wood and plants make the space feel like home. The food is absolutely INCREDIBLE. We started with the Drop Biscuits. The order comes with 2 huge biscuits and come out warm and fresh with a flaky, buttery exteriors and soft, melt in your mouth interior. Soooo good. For my entree I went with the Chopped Brisket Sammie. This sandwich came stacked to the moon with a mountain of tender brisket. I absolutely cannot wait to get back and enjoy more of their smoked meats. Do not hesitate. You are not going to be disappointed. Well done, Revival!

I got the Nashville hot flavor; while it wasn't overtly spicy, it definitely had some kick to it. The pickles were a nice addition to the dish. The pickle is a sweet pickle with a slight tang and was very complimentary to the chicken. Everything is a la carte so you'll have to order sides but I highly recommend the Mac and cheese and the biscuits. The mac was a little too runny than I prefer but it was still very good. The biscuits were soft and flakey; the butter that came with the biscuits was a honey butter that was absolutely delicious. I definitely recommend Revival to anyone that's looking for a delicious chicken experience. Our waitress was also awesome when it came to recommending food and sides. I don't remember her name but she was an absolute delight.
Emma our server was fantastic! She answered all of my questions and gave me recommendations, which were spot on! The cheese curds with honey were to die for, but the best item that we had was by far the waffle... It was light fluffy, and the most delicious waffle I've ever had ! we will definitely be back.
The Mac and Cheese was a little too runny and thus lacking flavor. The burger was good but the bun was way too sweet. Even the Cajun fries had too much sweetness in it in my opinion because why should they have sweetness? At any rate I would give every item a 8.75/10
Visited Revival for National Fried Chicken day. The chicken came out quick. It was good, not heavy seasoned but good, wry moist and was brined. The collards were good also, a little vinegary but good. I would have liked a little more grits with my cheese, but they were good also. I wanted to complain about the seasoning, or the vinegar, or the grits, but I found myself eating everything and enjoying it. They cooked the food in their style and I liked it. I'll be back in the future and I'll probably order the same stuff.
Food was delicious if you are craving southern cooking. Everything was piping hot and fresh. The brussel sprouts are a must - they have so much depth of flavor - sweet, salty, crunchy, tart! Chicken was perfectly crispy and tender inside. The cheddar biscuits are also a must holy cow! Service was very attentive, kind and helpful. The place is small but doesn't feel crowded. Cute and funky decor.

Came here on a late Wednesday evening. Wanted to order everything on the menu but i just picked what i came for (and then some)... Portions are humongous! Everything tastes the way they looked, it was on point! The place has its own parking spot, not big but enough. You pick if you want to eat inside or outside. They already have a service charge that's why i was a bit iffy if i should leave a tip or not. Over-all, southern food cravings satisfied! read more
This place is pricey, but it is reasonably priced. I got the beef brisket, I understand beef is expensive but it wasnt fulfilling to me. Also, the cornbread is just too hard. I'm not sure if it supposed to be super hard. I couldnt eat it without drinking water. The chicken were good, but lack flavor. Especially the Tennessee hot flavor. The banana cream pie! Omg it was soooo good! Definitely a must get!! The service was good. The food came out in a orderly manner. The ambiance was good. It was very vibing and lowkey. Something new to try! read more

How many roads must a man walk down Before you call him a man? How many seas must a white dove sail. Before she sleeps in the sand? Yes, 'n' how many pieces of Fried Chicken must you eat, before you find simply the best..The answer, my friend, is Revival; the answer is Revival. We had the pleasure of dining on their sidewalk patio...eating Fried Dark Chicken Meat (DCM) perfectly cooked Southern Style (for the Misses who loved every bite..:) and Tennessee Hot (for the Lad, who said it was the best most juiciest tastiest fried chicken he has ever chawed on..:) The sides of cheddar grits and bourbon carrots complimented this scrumptious chicken all washed down with a tall can of Hamms Beer. Not wanting to take a back seat??..was the slice of homemade banana cream pie shared. The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind. The answer blowin' is Revival..:) Best, Avram Dylan Jr. read more
I ordered over the phone and they were only doing takeout when I arrived. I ordered two pieces of white meat - country fried and a side of macaroni and cheese. I arrived about 5 minutes after I was told it would be ready and parked along the street in the surrounding neighborhood and brought it back to my hotel. It came with a couple sauces. One was a Carolina BBQ tasting one and another one tasted vinegar-y. Both good. The chicken was super crispy and meat tender but I wish there was a little more taste to it. Will have to try the Nashville hot next time. The side of Mac was a LOT more than I expected and VERY good. It had a lot of sauce and it was baked so there was a layer of baked cheese on top too. Definitely recommend that for sure. read more

Really nice and crispy tenders, first time ordering them. They give you 4 with a side of bread (really good), some kind of gravy ranch, and pickles. Poultrygeist is the spiciest chicken I've ever had in MN. read more

I've been wanting to check out this location for so long and the wait was definitely worth it! The Tennessee hot chicken is a must! I didn't think it was overly spicy. The Tennessee hot friends were another fav and great to share as an app. Our server was super helpful with explaining the menu and suggesting food items. read more
Cheers to covid, cold weather, being lazy, and delivery! I have been trying so many new places and revival was next on my list. I love southern food, and of course fried chicken, so I was excited to get my hands on some. They do delivery themselves but unfortunately, I was out of their delivery zone. So I ordered on door-dash, which was about 2-4 dollars more. But hey, I didn't have to leave the house. They also do pick up during these trying times. I ordered half the bird, which comes with five pieces. You decide if you want it southern fried or Tennessee hot. It was delivered fresh and was still hot. Unfortunately, I was disappointed in the chicken. The breading was on the fluffy side and not crispy or juicy at all. I love me some juicy, greasy, crispy fried chicken but this was quite the opposite. But maybe some people like that kind of fried chicken? Try it for yourself and see. The mac n cheese was also not the best. The cheese was creamy but also pungent and off-putting. My only favorite things were the mashed potato's and biscuits. The mashed potato's were aaamaazing. It's topped with a sour cream & chive gravy that had me drooling with every bite. The two biscuits came with a sweet butter that I also enjoyed. read more

This is a neat place to try out if you're in the mood for something a little different. We went for breakfast, and were pleasantly surprised at the "non traditional" offerings they had. I got the chicken fried ribs, and my buddy got the biscuits and gravy. The ribs were fantastic! Not overcooked or dry. I had a bloody mary as well, and that was delicious. The waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Get here and try the great food! read more

I was looking for a legit Chicken and Waffle breakfast. Scoured Yelp. There are many options but Revival had the best picture, it showed exactly what i wanted. So would it be as good as the picture? Well my friends, they nailed it. The chicken has a great crust and the meat was moist and every bite was full of flavor. The waffle crisp on the outside and fluffy inside. Every bite was delicious. I paired my breakfast with a mimosa, also a good choice. I highly recommend Revival read more

My friend and I stopped by Revival Smoked Meats for lunch and boy did it exceed expectations. We were greeted immediately by the person who ended up serving us. She was so friendly and kind and knowledgeable but I don't remember her name. The food was SOOOO good I got Mac n cheese, the bbq brisket sandwich, and we shared quesadillas. The patio was super nice even though it was hot and the food was divine. Run - don't walk here! read more
I have been dying to go here since they opened. I was fortunate enough to get a taste of their Brisket at the Hertiage Fire Tour in Minneapolis in June. On Saturday night, we placed a pick up order from both of the Minneapolis Revival locations (fried chicken & smoked meats). We've always loved Revival's fried chicken and were eager to try the smoked meats. Boy, we were not disappointed at all! We ordered the Brisket, the pork shoulder, the chorizo sausage, & the cornbread. Everything was absolutely AMAZING!! The Brisket and pork shoulder were so tasty and juicy! The chorizo was so delicious! I don't normally like cornbread because it's always so dry but not Revival's cornbread! It was sooooo perfect! The outside was crispy and the inside was soft and fluffy. I cant wait to order again and actually dine in next time! read more
Biked here on a Saturday afternoon, as it's one of the top rated chicken spots in the city. Not a large place by any means, but there is some indoor and outdoor seating. Was able to accommodate a table for myself without any wait. Ordered the Two-piece dark dinner combo ($15.50) as well as the Cheese Curds ($12). Food takes about 20ish minutes to arrive - piping hot chicken thigh and drumstick, pickles, slaw, and a buttery biscuit. Skin is extra crispy and well seasoned; meat inside being juicy. Slaw adds that tang to cut the oil from the meat. Biscuit has plenty of butter baked in, would have been even better with some jam. Curds are two large handfuls of oily cheese balls with a side of ranch. Could only finish about half before calling it quits. Service does take some time but worth the wait for the food. Probably best to stick with one dish or to share. read more
Revival is one of my all time favorite restaurants! They recently opened a new Smoked Meats Restaurant. I was invited for dinner there recently to try the dishes, desserts, and cocktails and everything was delicious. The flavor and quality of the meats was great. The cocktails were tasty and the desserts were amazing! You'll find the same great service and hospitality from their other locations here at the new Smoke House as well. Definitely stop by for a visit if you're in Minneapolis! Dinner Spread * Brisket Plate- Added Ribs. Service was exactly as it should be and then some, ambiance was top notch and the food will never leave room for complaints. The restaurant interior is on the small side but the layout has a great flow and the decor is far from dampening to the overall great vibe that Revival offers. Prices are great considering the generous portions of amazing quality food, add that in with the fantastic service delivered by an amazing team of staff. Easily became one of my favorite places to visit when in the mood for eclectic comfort food. read more

I've been to Revival many times over the years and I'd say it's a solid 4 stars. Their fried chicken and smoked meats are excellent. I'm a huge fan of the vinegar sauce for their fried chicken. The brisket, ribs, and burnt ends are some of my favorites in town. Special shout out to their pickles and their margarita! I only took off a star because every now and then I order something that really flops. On this latest trip we tried the cheddar drop biscuits which, despite the awesome cheese pull, were a disappointment - dense, tough, and bland. I've had the standard biscuits here a number of times and they're awesome, so I'm not sure what happened to these.. The cheese curds at Revival, however, are the best in the city hands down. The mac n cheese was delicious, as always. Insane burnt ends. Delicious, fatty meat treats. Chicken sandwich was solid, but I kept going back for more burnt ends. read more

I have been to their St. Louis Park (SLP), Minneapolis (MSP) and St. Paul locations for brunch. Although the taste remains consistent at all three locations, I'd say their MSP location is my least favorite to dine at. There is only street parking and the place is rather small compared to the other locations. The St. Paul location is more spacious and has nicer interior design, but is still street parking only. The SLP location is my favorite and it is their newest location. I think it's a little smaller than their St. Paul location, but they are comparable. It's located in a strip of other restaurants, and there's ample parking. There's a bakery next door that makes for great dessert! Now onto the food! They have best chicken and waffles I've ever had! I've ordered chicken and waffles at various breakfast/brunch restaurants before, but they can't hold a candle up to Revival. However, it should be noted that I've never been to any Southern states to try out chicken and waffles there. 1. The chicken here is crispy, juicy, tender, and huge! 2. Waffles are your standard tasting waffles, but they are cooked well (crispy on the sides). 3. The sauce is the most mind-blowing part. I am in love with their signature sauce (Sweet Potato Habanero) and have even asked for the recipe! The texture of the sauce is thicker and not as smooth as most sauces, but I would buy this by the bottle. I drench my chicken in it! It is the perfect amount of spice, with hints of sweetness (from the sweet potato) amongst the savory and slightly sour taste. It is the most amazing combination of flavor and I love joining it with all the other add-on flavors. These are: - Honey Butter: absolutely heavenly! The butter is whipped, so it's fluffy, soft and spreadable. It tastes creamy, salty, sweet and... buttery! - Syrup is syrup and it is yummy. All three of these flavor add-ons can hold a candle on their own, but when you combine them-- they provide the ultimate flavor experience. You get hit with a delicious deluge of salty spicy sweetness with interspersed notes of tanginess. 4. They have some pretty amazing sides. Some are standard sides, but there are some that are done super well. Their sides are a bit pricier, but some are worth it! - Mashed potatoes: Creamy deliciousness. I also love mashed potatoes that have some skin mixed in, so it hit the spot. The only con is that this is not on their brunch menu (dinner only side). - Beer batter cheese curds: The cheese was yummy, but the batter was sweet (similar to the taste of corn dog batter, but fried). It was cool to try them, and they do taste good, but it's not to my taste preference. - Mac & cheese: Not memorable, I've had better. Overall, If I ever have guests that come visit me in MN, I would definitely bring them here for brunch! This is one of my favorite brunch spots, and the only thing that keeps from from going too often is the price (~$17/plate of chicken and waffles, avg $8/small portion of side). read more
Tasty fried chicken, but there is just something missing still. After seeing Revival on The Daily Meal's 75 Best Fried Chicken Places in America, my wife and I decided to visit it during our short trip to Minneapolis. Luckily, we were able to walk in and immediately score a table on a Saturday afternoon at 1:45pm. The restaurant wasn't too big and from the looks of it, it was at full capacity when we arrived. The menu was pretty basic, with appetizers, chicken, entrees, sandwiches and sides, with the main focus of the menu squarely on the fried chicken. Our main goal here was to just have fried chicken and maybe a few sides and that's exactly what we stuck with. I ended up ordering a 2 piece fried chicken and my wife ordered the chicken + waffle breakfast sandwich. In addition, we ordered 3 sides to share. 2 PIECE FRIED CHICKEN - Yes, 2 pieces is as sad as it looks. Unfortunately, the restaurant didn't have a 3 or 4 piece option, so I was stuck between ordering the 2 or 5 piece and 5 pieces was just too much in my mind. The fried chicken (chicken thigh and chicken leg) was served on top of a piece of white bread, but the white bread was merely just a waste of space on my plate. The fried chicken was really good though - well-fried, flavorful and juicy. It wasn't amazingly great, but it was good. CHICKEN + WAFFLE BREAKFAST SANDWICH - The sandwich came with a fried chicken thigh in the middle, sunny-side egg, white gravy, honey butter and syrup and it was delicious. If you want something to post on your Instagram from here, this is it. The sandwich, which was basically a chicken and waffle dish, was every bit as good as it sounded. Sure, you'll feel like you just ate 10,000 calories, but your taste buds will thank you for it. HUSH PUPPIES - We saw this quite a lot from other Yelp reviewers, so felt it was popular and ordered it. BIG MISTAKE. This was as big of a disappointment as we have had for something we thought would be good. The hush puppies were overly cooked and just tasted like burned wood. MAC + CHEESE - It seems that the restaurant first cooked the mac and cheese on a stovetop and then baked it a bit to get some crunchiness on top. We weren't fans of it though because it was just too watery. COLLARD GREENS - The best of the 3 sides we ordered. Solid collard greens and trademark bitterness hit the mark. Revival was a solid restaurant, but something was just lacking. The fried chicken was good, but not remarkable. The chicken + waffle sandwich was really delicious though, but it's probably something that could easily be made somewhere else. So tried this place for take out today, it was quite busy at around 5pm which is a good sign. Iv tried the chicken are their chicken place not a huge fan of it. But iv been wanting to try their smoked meats. I got pork shoulder and brisket, 1/2lbs each and 3 sides! First of all! How does that order add up to 60$! You would think the sides are their own entree at that price tag. They were not, tiny sides! The brisket usually is a safe bet, it's was meh, maybe a off day? It was dry and hard and the seasoning wasn't that impressive. The pork however was very tender and well seasoned! It was great! The coleslaw was obviously made a few days ago? It had that iv sat in the sauce for a while feeling! The beans were more of a soup, and quite vinegary! And mac and cheese however was actually pretty decent! So some wins and some misses, will I try it again yes. And the staff were quite nice and attentive, no complaints there. read more
