Stopped in while in town for a quick bite to eat before a night out, definitely a must have when visiting the Twin Cities! We got the grilled cheese and tomato basil soup, absolutely delectable! The grilled cheese was a perfect blend of cheesy goodness and fresh tomato bliss. The inside was super clean and well maintained--loved the intimate ambience. Food came out quickly and service was speedy. Would definitely stop by again!

    Pastrami Sandwich on sub bun

II'm still on my quest to find the best. pastrami sandwich I can in Minnesota. I'm going to give them an 8 it of 10. I asked them to put it on a sub bun and I was pleased that they said they would. I was expecting a bun like Jimmy John's or Subway. This was an 8" section of a 3 foot long bun. The bun was pretty ordinary. They could do better. I wished I had asked for extra pastrami. I thought it needed more. They added a little bit of cheese. It would have been better without it. There was also a little mustard but not nearly enough. We got there at 12:30 and the place was empty which made it easier for them to take the time to customize our sandwiches. By the time we left the place had a pretty good crowd if count the pick up orders . I think the place only holds 20 people at 3 tables and a counter. It needed lettuce, dill pickles, pepperoncinis or hot yellow wax peppers. My wife thought the slices were to big and made it difficult for her to eat.I think I could get them to make us a better custom sandwich but if I'm going to drive that far and do that I might as well keep trying to perfect my pastrami sandwich. I wish them well. They are nice people.

Cute deli! Our sandwiches were delish! The bread was soft and fresh, plenty of filling. Definitely a repeat.

Was indecisive as to what to eat but when I walked past I had to stop because their menu caught my attention with its variation of sandwiches. Delicious isn't the word as its one of the best sandwiches I've had. Its more of a take away but you can also have a seat and view the streets as people and cars walk and drive by. The service was awesome because the staff was really receptive and fast in delivering my food.

Delicious subs for great prices! Absolutely love their selection and staff is incredibly nice. There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of great delis in Minnesota, so I'm glad there's Caffrey's!

My daughter actually brought me her leftovers once and I ate it was like where did you get that amazing sandwich? so I finally got to come in person ...seems like a real hidden gem and you're not getting just a sandwich you're getting an artist sandwich ! my goal is to try each and every single sandwich

At lunch,…read morethere can be a mad rush for their classic roast beef sandwich, but the staff handles the crowd with efficiency and detail. I was on the street in front of Clancy's when one of their customers was mis-identified as an officer of an organization that was terrorizing Minneapolis. It had nothing to do with Clancy's! As I tried to get to my car, people yelled the most obscene and disgusting epitaphs at the couple in front of me. I was just walking down Grand Avenue. They were even spitting at this innocent individual. As a liberal who marched for civil rights and against the war in Vietnam during the 1960s and 1970s, I was horrified. Blaming Clancy's is ignorant, and an integral part of how this country is dismantling. Clancy's Meats & Fish is important to our neighborhood, and represents the kindness and empathy that has been representative of Minnesota for decades. Give them your support.

On one side is a meat market with a variety of cuts of steaks, lamb, and other meats, which all looked fresh and quite nice. They also have a variety of items such as canned goods, pasta, eggs, etc. on the shelves opposite the meat counter. The entire place is quite sunny, pleasant, and cozy. On the other side is the eat-in, take-out deli sandwiches, that are made to order. The quality of the ingredients is excellent. The bread is freshly made (crispy baguette type) and you have a choice of Roast Beef, Roast Turkey, Tuna Salad, Smoked Ham, or Corned Beef. All sandwiches are $16.50 each (including tax) and come with a choice of mayonnaise, spicy stone ground mustard, red leaf lettuce, thin sliced red onion, salt, pepper, oil, vinegar, raw grated horseradish, pickled jalapeno, and roasted bell pepper. The default includes all toppings so if you don't want everything, be sure to specify what you do NOT want. Surprisingly, they do not carry any diet soda, nor do they stock any national brands (only local pop). There is a large menu on the wall, and you order at the counter and pick up the order (no table service). The food was attractively presented, and very, very good. My only gripe (besides the lack of diet pop) is that it's on the expensive side for lunch. Two sandwiches, a couple of bags of chips, and a couple of cans of pop will easily top $40, although I'd say the quality is top-notch.

Both of these were hits and were a good amount of food too. My mom got the same sandwich with the chicken wild rice soup which wasn't as much of a hit as the tomato but was still decent and then my sister got a veg sandwich with the tomato soup. SPACE There are a few 4-tops on the patio in front, a handful of bar seats inside with a small, cozy indoor table footprint, and a handful of 2-3 tops on the back alley. SERVICE The bartender told us to go find a spot on the back alley, so we did - but not sure we did things right, as our server walked past us a few times without acknowledging us. Service was friendly but limited. DRINKS They had a nice cocktail menu, but I opted for an Aperol Spritz. My husband chose off their limited NA menu a lavender honey lemonade, and it was a bit too sweet for him. I'd love to see some mocktail options here! FOOD We just got a few shareables since we were heading to dinner after, but their sandwiches were making my husband's mouth water! We got: Pickle Brined Wings - amazing flavor, salty and dilly, but I would have liked quite a bit more char on them: they were pretty pale. Minnesota Sushi - my husband loved this! Served with Ritz crackers, and it's the perfect little shareable dip.

The owner and staff are all great; greeting everyone and happily answering questions. My favorite thing is the dutch crunch bread they get special made for the shop. It's impossible to find around here and the slight sweetness and texture add something special to each hoagie. If you're looking for a locally-owned deli to grab lunch from this is one I highly recommend.

The menus are not posted online yet, but they have about 8-10 sandwiches, all on the same Patisserie 46 rolls, as well as a few sides and a kids menu. My friend and I each ordered the Wesley and our sandwiches were ready within minutes. Unfortunately, my order came out as the Eddie rather than the Wesley, but it sounded good so I just went with it. The staff was beyond generous and ended up making the Wesley for me anyways. The Eddie was good, not great. It comes with bacon, turkey, avocado, tomato, lettuce and chipotle mayo. The chipotle mayo was so tasty with subtle heat, and the roll was nice and soft on the inside and crisp on the outside. My only complaint was the meat - the turkey was slightly tough and the bacon was served like a cold cut which didn't allow for much texture differentiation or flavor. The avocado was ripe and creamy and the tomatoes were juicy and fresh. I wonder if cooked/crispy bacon would make a difference in flavor and texture? And then just better cuts of that turkey would have elevated the Eddie in my opinion. Keeping in mind that they just opened, I would not count Little Bird off my list, but I do think there are plenty of other good sandwich shops to check out in Minneapolis as well.
