The pizza is really good. They have a lot of options and everything is made fresh which I appreciate. The service is on point. They are friendly, offer suggestions, and over all do a great job. I lived the vibe of the place. It's got an eighties theme that is cool without going over board in kitschy. The beer and cider selection is really good as well. Overall it's a great place to come for good great pizza and some beer and hang out with friends or your significant other.

Haven't had pizza this good in a really long time! The crust was nice and crunchy with this olive oil cheesy taste I cannot get over. It was so good, I could have just eaten pizza dough by itself. There was lots of meat and toppings on each pizza and was definitely filling and delicious. I was not disappointed at all. Loaded with flavor in every bite. These pizzas were made with love and passion. The cheesy bread was a hit, ate almost half of it before even arriving home. When I went to pick up my pizza, they had a hot station with slices or pizza and little calzones, ended up buying one as well as I waited and it was delicious. So cheesy and loaded with flavor. Next pizza night we will be grabbing pizza from here. Service was great. Friendly staff who were fast and efficient. Decor was fun, love all the retro toys and decor that just flooded my heart with memories of my childhood growing up. There is also a little Pac-Man game to play. Nice and clean inside and well kept.

I was so excited to finally try Retro Pie. We decided to go with slices and drinks (slice alone $5, slice with drink $6- great price!) We each tried something different (pepperoni, cheese and triple something with pesto, red sauce, white sauce). Each were very good. Next time we will get a full pie and try the Cali Burn which is what I had really wanted. They've done a great job with the inside. Love the drenched black ceiling and vibe. They have a bar with what looks like tons of beers on tap, and good music videos playing. Very kind and attentive service, too!

La Luna

I really wanted to like this place based on the menu alone! I ordered the La Luna as I typically love white sauces (and anything that comes with multiple cheeses!) With the exception of directly biting into the chunks of garlic, all components of the pizza were collectively lacking flavor. The white sauce seems to have been just a mere cream base, left completely as is, and fell quite flat for me. If it weren't for the fact that you can visibly see the oregano, I'm not sure I would have ever known it was there. I do appreciate that it's a thinner crust pizza and am not ready to write them off just yet. I'll be back to try the red sauce side.

Combo (Small)

I'm from the peninsula and wanted to support a local business as I was visiting family for the holidays. Decided on Retro Pie due to the reviews on Yelp, went for an online order for pickup. Ordered at 4:45pm for a 5:20pm pick up time. I arrived at 5:25 expecting the 2 pizzas, Hecka Meat (medium) and Combo Nation (small) and unfortunately the order was not ready. I can understand a few minutes, but I ended up waiting for another 20 minutes to get my order. So, the expected 5:20pm order wasn't ready until 5:45. Inexcusable. The place was moderately busy, but there wasn't too much effort on the staff to accommodate the wait. Was told one was ready, but the other was still in the oven, which would have been ok, but it was pretty obvious that they were both just starting, cause it shouldn't take an extra 20 minutes to make. All I could do was wait. Wasn't offered a drink, so I just stood there watching the TV. The place still seems new, with a bar and a handful of tables for dine in. Took the order home, the offered grated parmesan, peppers and ranch along with plates and napkins for the takeout order. As for the pizza itself, the combo wasn't anything special and I probably could have been just as satisfied with the Costco combo pizza and gotten 2 of them for the same price as 1 here at Retro Pie. The Hecka Meat pizza, unfortunately did not have hecka meat. It was a medium size, but would only be good for 2 people max. It'd probably be better to take advantage of the lunch time slice deal than to order a whole pie as $50 plus tip for 2 pizzas wasn't the best price point, especially when the ready time wasn't accurate. Maybe it was an off night, but it's definitely not a 5 star place for Yelp.

Grand opening
Ann T.

What a great spot for down town, located on the corner across the street from Bank of America. We came for the grand opening and was impressed with the turnout, lots of locals, including folks from the art community. They had a DJ, VW group, and coffee cart outside. Inside was Pizza and a bar with beer on tap. I believe during weekdays they have pizza by the slice for five dollars a slice for both regular and deep dish slices

80's El Jeffe
M B.

RETRO PIE, MANTECA: WHERE PIZZA IDENTITY CRISIS BECOMES ENLIGHTENMENT Look, I've eaten pizza in Naples where nonnas literally crossed themselves when I asked for pineapple. I've stood in line at Di Fara in Brooklyn while a guy argued with a pigeon over crust supremacy. I've suffered through Chicago's "casserole cosplay" and pretended it was profound. And yet here I am, in Manteca, California--a town I previously only knew as the answer to "what freeway exit did I just miss?"--having a borderline religious experience with something called "El Jeffe". Now, traditionally, putting carne asada on pizza is the kind of fusion that makes Italian grandmothers spontaneously combust. It's culinary sacrilege. It's a crime against the Geneva Convention of Carbohydrates. It's... absolutely goddamn brilliant. The El Jeffe arrives looking like it just won a bar fight with a taquería and emerged victorious, draped in perfectly seasoned carne asada that's been grilled with the kind of char marks that make you wonder if they have a tiny tattoo artist back there. The meat isn't some sad, grey cafeteria mystery protein--this is the good stuff, the kind of asada that makes you question every burrito you've ever settled for. The crust? Properly hand-tossed, with that East Coast chew that doesn't require a construction permit. Not flaccid enough to be a napkin, not thick enough to double as insulation. It's the Goldilocks zone of dough technology. But here's where Retro Pie shows they're not playing games: they didn't just slap some Chipotle leftovers on flatbread and call it "fusion." This is "thoughtfully unhinged". The toppings work together like they've been in couples therapy. The cheese situation is generous without being a dairy crime scene. There's clearly someone in that kitchen who understands that "Mexican pizza" shouldn't taste like cultural appropriation had a yard sale. The vibe? Packed. I mean, you'll wait--everyone in Manteca apparently got the memo. Good music, NFL Sunday Ticket on the screens (because nothing says "artisanal craft pizza" like watching grown men give each other CTE), and staff that actually seem happy to be there instead of plotting their escape. THE VERDICT:In a world of mediocre pizza trying to be everything to everyone, Retro Pie said "what if we just made really good pizza and occasionally let a taco truck crash into the menu?" And you know what? It works. The El Jeffe isn't just a pizza--it's proof that sometimes the best innovation happens when you stop worrying about the rules and just make something delicious. Rating:- 4.5 out of 5 pizza boxes (would be 5/5 but I'm withholding half a point until they name a pizza after me) LOL... Go to Retro Pie. Order the El Jeffe (it's on the secret menu). Thank me later.

Vegetarian Pie

This review is for a take out order for two small pepperoni and vegetarian pizzas. Both tasted good, however, I wished there were more toppings for the price paid. I think their signature pies are creative and am interested in trying different pizzas next time.

Update 8/2025 Visit 2 (3/5 stars) I had found out that they only do pizza by the slice for lunch around 12. Unfortunately, this was the main thing keeping them at a 4/5 for me. Anyways I had ordered over the phone, for dine in, their white sauce pizza, La Luna, with added chicken and bacon. On that note, I was given a price over the phone, and the total for the pizza ended up being more because they left off the up charges for the chicken and bacon. I don't think it was intentional, but an oversight because they are still new and working out the kinks so I won't hold this part against them this time. What solidifies them as a 3/5 though was the actual pizza itself. In general, I love white sauce, pizzas. The upside was that they didn't seem to really skimp on the ingredients. There was a fairly generous portion of sauce, cheese and chicken. The crust was NOT overdone like their slices so this was definitely a plus. As for the downsides, there were a couple. The generosity of the ricotta is nice but instead of having small dollops throughout, they had big some big globs that didn't heat well so they were just a bit lukewarm. It was also lacking in flavor as a whole. The chicken was a tender and moist but bland. It had chunks of garlic which tasted great but that flavor was isolated to those chunks. The sauce as a whole while great in terms of portion lacked any flavor. Had it not been for the bacon to provide flavor, I think I would have stopped at just 1 or 2 slices tops. Not sure if I mentioned it in the initial review but they have a bar counter where they have beer on tap as well as some cans from their fridge. Bartender was friendly and attentive as well btw. Side note I REALLY hope the pestoroni is good and that they do other slices because I do want to support these guys and see some improvement. I also understand that it can be hard to do by the slice outside of lunch time in a small city like Manteca, let alone have some variety for the slices. 8/2025 (4/5 stars) Heard about them from a coworker and was excited to give them a try. To my surprise, along with whole pizzas they also do by the slice. They have a pretty decent sized dining room with plenty of tables. The decor is nice with some random retro painting/pictures. Now to set your expectations, while they have tables they are not a traditional sit down restaurant; they are fast casual so you will go to the counter, order your food then seat yourself. I think this is a perfect setup for them just because they do by the slice. As for service, the person working the counter was pleasant and patient as she answered whatever questions I had. If I had 1 think to nitpick about its that they brought me 1of my 2 slices to my table while the other was still being heated. Not a HUGE issue, but just something I noticed. One thing that I appreciate is that they don't charge for ranch. At least for just a couple containers anyways. Dunno if that's just because I didn't ask for a lot for a whole pizzas worth or if it's just built into the cost of the food. On to the price. 1 slice is $5 and they have a special that includes a drink for I believe $1 extra (no up charge option if you try to buy a beer instead unfortunately). For the area especially, I think $5 for 1 slice is a bit steep especially considering a whole pizza was around $23 or so. You can get a whole hot n ready pizza at Little Caesars for what, $7.99 now? Not to compare quality, but it's something to think about. Granted the size of the slices are pretty decent at least. On to the food, had ordered their Deep dish pepperoni along with their regular classic pepperoni. I don't want to overly criticize them being that they are one of the only pizza by the slice shops that I know in the area (I haven't been to Happy Pizza in forever so I don't know if they, 1 still exist or 2 even offer that option anymore), but I'll try my best to be fair/honest here. I like pan pizzas as much as the next person but theirs was a bit of a letdown. It was so dense and tasted doughy as if it hadn't been fully cooked yet the cheese on the crust was a bit burnt, not just crispy but burnt. As for the regular pepperoni, it was reheated a bit too much. I can appreciate a pizza with some crisp to it but this too was overcooked. The bottom wasn't just slightly charred from the reheating it was fairly burnt. The edge/end crust was crispy as well too. Not necessarily a deal breaker but generally it's just not my thing, if you like that then you will like theirs. Flavor overall was well enough. I really liked that they use those mini pepperoni though. Overall I wanted this place to be a 4/5 at least but my review sounds like more of a 3/5. I might be a tad generous on this one because I can see the potential and want them to succeed so as of now I I'll keep it at a 4/5. I'm planning to come back and try a white sauce pizza. Hopefully they can prove me right and really show me that they deserve that 4/5.

I have never waited over an hour for a pizza in my life. Ordered at 6:48pm and Pizza was brought out at 8:17pm. Back to the drawing board for this business. I don't know where they need to make improvements but you can't have customers sitting around over an hour for a pizza. Maybe you can invest in more ovens and/or more staff but this what you have right here, right now is not it! It's about 1 pizza coming out the back per 25 minutes. The pizza itself was mediocre, my kid said it's comparable to Chuck E Cheese's pizza.

From the moment you walk in, you can feel the great energy fun music, friendly staff, and a welcoming vibe that makes you want to stay awhile. The food is always fresh and delicious from their crisp, flavorful salads to their perfectly baked pizzas and mouthwatering desserts. You can really taste the quality in every bite! Their selection of beers and wines is impressive too! Something for everyone, whether you're in the mood for a cold craft beer or a nice glass of wine. It's the perfect spot to relax, enjoy great food, and soak in the good music and good vibes. Highly recommend Retro Pie -- definitely one of my favorite places!

Cali Burn signature pizza
Rebecca W.

Where to I start.... If you haven't been to The Retro Pie yet, you are seriously missing out! From the second you walk in, you are transported back to the totally RAD vibes of the 80's think nostalgia, and all the fun retro touches that make you smile before you've even taken a bite. But let's talk about the pizza. Every single ingredient is so fresh, you can taste the difference instantly, nothing frozen here, just pure, vibrant flavors. Their signature topping combinations are out of this world, like ALF especially my personal favorite, the "Cali Burn" or the Chicken Tikka" or wait the "Hecka Pie" I can't decide but the whatever you get you will experience a bold, unique, and absolutely unforgettable. This is not just a new pop up business but a great community hangout. They're warm, friendly, and genuinely care about every customer's experience. The place is spotless, the service is fast, and the atmosphere makes you want to stay for "just one more slice." Fresh, flavorful, and fun--The Retro Pie is hands down my new go-to pizza spot in town.
