The owner is the one-woman show for this place. She's eccentric, in a good way. She is balancing a whole act here. She let us snag a table right at 18:30 but told us we had to be done by 19:00 since that's when the next reservation was. No prob! We placed our order for a mixed plate 1 + small sides of garlic rice and mashed potatoes. We saw a fam roll in, a group of four, and they had reservations. However, they didn't vibe with the owner and mistook her eccentricity for unwelcoming vibes - she did recommend them a nice table service serving similar foods up the street. Anyway, she called us over to pick up our orders to bring them to our tables. It was so yummy! A bit salty for our liking, but we were happy to try out her food. Her sauces are delicious and good to pour over the garlic rice. If you don't have reservations, there is always take-away as an option. Bon appetit

It was on…read morethe late side on a Monday night (close to 9 PM) and I asked what was available for dinner that was open until at least 11 PM. She told me about this place and said they offered good Portuguese fare. She was absolutely correct. The storefront was unobtrusive but not too difficult to locate. Even though the facility was spacious, it was still rather crowded when I walked in despite the late hour. Nonetheless, I was able to be seated. English was not a problem in placing my order. I will say something about the service that I have noticed in Europe, but not often in the US. Most of the time in the US, I get younger, inexperienced people waiting on me. In Europe, at places such as this, I have had experienced wait staff who are clearly professionals, and very good at what they do. That was the case here as my waiter did an excellent job. The menu was largely Portuguese and there were several interesting choices. I had the shrimp croquettes as an appetizer, which served as a nice starter. I chose the shrimp in curry sauce for my main, which was very good. In general, I was quite happy with the quality of my fare. With food and drinks, the bill was €27.50. This was just over $30 USD with the conversion at the time. This was quite reasonable considering the quality of the fare. If you are in the neighborhood and are interested in Portuguese fare, this is a good bet.

Colina is open, so we decided to try it. It is walking distance from our hotel, it was very bright inside, and friendly staff. We were greeted immediately and offered two seat options. Food: ordered hake and sea bass. The hake was interesting served with fish biting its own tale and might freak some people out. The sea bass was served whole filleted. The fish were good but the sides were inedible. The rice was watery and tasted like can baked beans were added. The potatoes were cold and the broccoli was overcooked and cold. Service: young ladies were very nice.

Most fishes also come with a side of boiled potatoes lightly salted (see picture of sardines). It's a classic European restaurant on the inside with many small tables inside with a few on the patio. Staff were overall very pleasant with a constant stream of staff members bringing food and checking in. As we were travelers and do not know much Portuguese at all, they still made us feel welcome and had good English language skills.

Squid here was delicious, perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned, and a bunch of it. Great potatoes to go with it, too. I'd eat here every day if I could. The "couvert" was fish pate from a tin, not made in-house, but it's Portugal, so the tinned fish was still great, obviously. The olives with it were just ok, but the bread was great. I was also happy that they did, indeed, understand that we were going to share it, but only wanted a couvert plate serving for one (I hadn't been sure.) I was a little sad my wife really wanted red meat that day, so we couldn't get the seafood sampler platter for 2, but her pork chop was also great, I know because it was also huge, so I ended up eating like a third of it. Also perfectly cooked and seasoned, and it did go great with fries. The fries were also great, too, super freshly made and perfectly crispy, though the one downside, everything else but the fries were ready super quickly, then the fries showed up after we were about halfway done eating the rest of it. Definitely freshly cooked, though! Also unlike the place the previous day that served us exceptionally mediocre squid the previous day, they also sell very affordable wines here. They have a good number of extremely reasonably priced half-bottles of all types, but we didn't need a whole half-bottle of wine, so I just got a glass of the house white, which was, at least as of a couple months ago, only 2.5 euros! Seriously, I'd come here all the time if I could.I wish I had gotten to try everything on the menu.

So many meats to choose from...some you have never tried before. I can guarantee that! I suggest getting the pick three menu. Of course you should grab a house wine while you are eating. The menu comes with a big plate of fries, a big plate of fruit and sauces. You cook your meats on a super heated stone. They cook fast so pay attention! Cool experience if you are nearby and looking for dinner.

First - the wine list is very extensive and if you are a) not Portuguese and b) not familiar with the Portuguese wine, the menu could be very well written in Chinese. However, the staff is helpful and will get you there. Did I mention they have very reasonable prices too? Now, the food. You have a menu that includes every kind of meat and seafood you can think of on this planet earth (including zebra meat). Here is how you do it: either order one of the pairs on the menu (i.e., chicken+veal) or match 3+ meat types, all of which will go on your fondue (aka bbq). Your choice of any meat will come with 6 different types of mayo, french fries and a giant fruit platter. They bring a set of appetizers while you wait for your grill and do pick up the octopus salad. Meat is fresh, delicious and it is so much fun to grill your own meat while enjoying a nice bottle of wine. We will definitely be back here whenever we are in Lisbon.

We were disappointed at the time but we found many other restaurants that had good seafood as well. We were traveling with other family members this time and thought this restaurant would be the best places to try pretty much every seafood dishes available in Lisbon and some of the unique foods that we can't get at home. We had barnacles, glass shrimp (it is supposed to have eggs outside the shell but unfortunately we were told the season was over so there were no eggs), spider crab, oysters with caviar, scallops, razor clams, and cheese with bread. We also wanted an authentic Portuguese place and not anything touristy. Be careful what you wish for! We took a number but were almost bypassed as they were calling higher numbers. I got the "matre d's" attention and showed him my number. He spoke no English as could be expected - not an issue! So, he bumped us up to the front of the line. We climbed a long narrow and steep staircase to reach a long narrow hallway with about 20 staff running about and squeezing by each other. Somehow, we found the dining room and our waiter greeted us offering us a choice of tables. Clientele were very well dressed and spoke in Portuguese looking very comfortable. He immediately brought us a huge basket of garlic bread! It was quite a nice atmosphere and reminiscent of an older home with high ceilings. We had trouble ordering from the phone app (as it should be because it was in Portuguese only) so our waiter guided us. No IPA and no wine except moscatel. But this was a cerveseria with no IPA! So we tried two glasses of moscatel- not our favorite as it was much too sweet. We agreed to the garlic shrimp and lazy crab. I asked what it came with and he said nothing and pointed to the garlic bread. I asked about ordering veggies and he said there were none! The crab was fridge cold but would have been better warm. The shrimp could have been tasty if not so salty. It wouldn't have been such a culture shock but it was also very pricey for what is was. I don't regret this experience as I was immersed in Portuguese culture and food. But no veggies is unthinkable! lol
