Don't speak english, but the hype is real. Lovely, welcoming staff and great food, a little crowded due to limited space, so get there early if you have a larger crowd. Came here once after seeing the reviews - it's a small restaurant tucked away on a corner of a neighborhood in the north part of Lisbon. There's an English menu available, and communicating in English was not a problem here. The portions are huge and prices are incredibly cheap. Lovely restaurant in a cosy neighborhood up the hill from the Assembly of the Republic. We got there shortly after they opened at 7pm and it was already filling up with a mixture of locals and international tourists who know how to find a good place off the beaten path. Try the wonderfully prepared fish (the sea bass) or the meat (the veal). Comes with two small, tasty loaves of bread. We order a side dish of The olives to go with the bread. And a half carafe of white white. We shared a table and had a wonderful conversation with a recently married gay couple from Britain, who were originally from Greece and Germany. For desert, the creme caramel was a perfect finish. Looking forward to coming back here before we leave to explore more! read more

After reading a number of stellar reviews of Churrasqueira online, we came here for dinner and were totally disappointed :-( The ambiance and service were AOK, but the food was terrible! How terrible? I ended up leaving most of my entree on my plate and going away hungry because the dish was so salty that it was inedible. My friend's chicken dish was also too salty to eat, though she was able to mask the taste enough with sauce that she ended up eating half of it. On the other hand, after our "dinner" we ended up going elsewhere to get a meal we both found satisfying. At the end of the day the "meal" we ordered here wasn't very expensive, but it wasn't worth what we paid for it because what good is food that you can't eat? We'll never return, and I can't suggest that anyone else come to this restaurant either - not when there are so many other great restaurants in Lisbon. read more

This place is a "where the locals eat" location. It is on the corner in a residential area serving outstanding grilled chicken and grilled sardines. We ordered a whole chicken which was grilled perfectly and then an order of grilled sardines which were very tasty. There are not many tables so this place will get crowded for dinner. One of my star highlights from the trip. This place was so close to our Airbnb and seemed like a joint the locals would go to often. The place was small but felt homey. Great food and pretty unbelievable prices. Definitely come here when visiting Lisbon and looking for a good meal without a lot of fuss. Menu is very simple: an assortment of grilled fish, roasted chicken, and steak. We had 4 Super Bocs, 2 half chickens, 1 side of fries, and swordfish for 25 euros. Service is really good too. We just arrived in Lisbon and found this close to our apartment. Small family run restaurant but the tables turn over quickly enough. We only had to wait five minutes for a table. All the food is grilled whether you order fish or meat. Good variety to choose from. We order the doroudo (golden fish) which was very tasty and our kids ordered the pork steak and grilled meats. The fish comes with steamed vegetables while the meats come with fries. Great value for less than 10 euros a plate. Our whole meal with bread, olives, wine, and water was around 40 euros. read more
