    Grilled calamari
    Sasha M.

Very affordable pricing. Excellent sardines and grilled calamari. Long wait as there is no reservations. 0.75 l white wine (nice one) for 9 Euro, great value. Not much of ambient as this is well priced sea food, open for lunch only and that is why everyone is coming there. Service is great , they do their best

Octopus rice and grilled squid, very good

The Quick: Very good, well cooked seafood, simple flavors and good portions. They were out of the octopus but the special of the day, octopus rice, was a treat! Table seating is tight and the chairs are low stools which weren't very comfortable but it was still worth the visit. I do like a bit more spice to my food (pepper, lemon, olive oil) but I ate it as served to not offend, and really enjoyed it. I would return to try more things.

Fantastic little restaurant off the alley. Highly recommend reservations as it's small and very popular. The specialty was clearly the grilled sardines (which almost every table had) and the grilled octopus. We also had the ribs and crispy pork bites and both were fantastic and a nice balance to the seafood. Service was very good, Augusto was friendly, attentive and always with a smile. Wonderful lunch.

We came here at around 2:00pm and the wait was still at least 30 minutes. If you don't want to wait, either come earlier (like when they open) or come later. This place does simple Portuguese food. We had the polvo (octopus) (13) and the sarindinhas (sardines) (12). The sardines were okay. Nothing special and wouldn't recommend. The octopus was delicious. Very tender and simply seasoned. If you have time to wait for a seat - then I would recommend the octopus. If you don't have time to wait, I would say pass on this.

The prices are a bit high, and the food is underwhelming. Although the squid was good, the octopus was just okay, and nothing here really blew us away. It was not memo I really wish I spent my time and money elsewhere.

Superb spot in the heart of Lisbon. Their mixed fish or meat plates are popular as well as the other items.

I can't recommend this place enough! A plate of assorted grilled fish with a bowl of potato is only €15! Assorted meat is €13! On top of that, it's super good fish and meat! Simply cooked and charred. Make a reservation though as this place fill up real quick!

Despite having high reviews, I was a bit disappointed in the flavor profile of this place. I ordered the octopus which severely lack seasoning/flavor with bland potatoes underneath. The menu is also very limited, which made it challenging to find any alternatives for things you might want.

We had the grilled octopus, squid, and fish platter. Each one was seasoned well and cooked to perfection. The menu is simple but done very well. Thank you for a fantastic lunch!

This restaurant defines quaint. Sat on the steps outside. Best seasoned food on the Iberian peninsula. Our waitress was delightful and very helpful. Do not leave Lisbon without eating here.

Very cozy but popular restaurant in downtown Lisbon. We came here around 2 pm and waited about twenty minutes for a table. The grilled sardines and octopus were both fantastic, but the cod was a bit under-seasoned. Our waitress gave us free ginja liqueur after our meal!

Mista de carne and mista de peixe (mixed meat and mixed fish) platters
    Jordan M.

Amazing place for fish and meat! My husband and I split the mista de carne (mixed meat) and mista de peixa (mixed fish) platters, which came with fries and potatoes on the side. We also split a bottle of green wine which we loved. The food was great, filling, and an excellent price. Would definitely recommend!

The codfish dumpling fusion was a pleasant surprise, creamy on the inside and a nice chewy gyoza wrapper. The octopus rice was good too. A decent amount of octopus with rice in a smoked bell pepper sauce. I was disappointed by the seafood pasta soup though. I liked the mussels, but the shrimp and the clams weren't the freshest. The clams were a little mushy. It had a nice seafood stock flavor, but definitely could have used more salt and seasoning. We had mixed service from one of the female servers.

We started with a glass of wine and a specialty cocktail with gin and cherry liqueur as a base. Perfect balance of herbal and tart and sweet. We each ordered a glass of 20 year port to celebrate my birthday and the staff overheard and brought a complimentary rich chocolate dessert. Very enjoyable meal all the way around.

It's rotisserie chicken doused with a spicy hot sauce so what's not to like? I knew it was a Portuguese-originated dish, so I looked for a place famous for it. Here on a Sunday evening, there was quite a queue extending up the cobblestone alley, so I realized this must be the place. Although it was at least thirty people deep, it didn't take more than twenty minutes for Jamie W and me to secure a table upstairs. It was a homestyle dining room set-up that hovered between cozy and crowded depending on the fluctuating volume level. Interestingly all the servers were male, and while ours was the most junior, he consciously followed the behavior of his veteran brethren. There was no question about our main course, the 13,5€ Frango Assado No Espeto (Roast Chicken on the Spit) (Photo 7). It was tender and succulent enough albeit a bit under seasoned, all the more reason to pour a liberal dose of the piri piri sauce (Photo 8). Our sides were simple but shareable, the 3,2€ Batata Fritta (French Fries) (Photo 9) and the 4,3€ Salada Mista (Mixed Salad) (Photo 10). Both were fine, though we really wanted to try their Cream Spinach. They were already out of it in the kitchen. We were quite satisfied nonetheless, and their service pretty much worked like clockwork. Jamie and I agreed we'd definitely come back if the passion for poultry strikes us on a return trip to Lisbon. In the meanwhile, I'll just do a run to Costco, buy a rotisserie chicken, and dream of Portugal. A small line of one or two groups at a time formed throughout the night. We were seated outside and there was a street performer with an acoustic guitar - def added some great vibes to the night. It was a chilly December night but the heater provided *just enough* warmth. We ordered the codfish cakes which were alright - nothing too special. Since it was a little cold out, I also ordered the chicken broth. It was bland, but good in its own way. There was some rice and chicken bits in it that tasted really good. The rotisserie chicken that they are known for was EXTREMELY salty. We were a group of 6 and ordered 2.5 rotisserie chicken (so 5 pieces) but this was actually way too much. It's a little better (but still salty) if you don't eat the skin, but that's the best part given how crispy it was! I tried to drown out the saltiness by using the piri piri sauce and it helped a little bit... but biting into the chicken meant biting into the undissolved salt bits. Given how salty it was, we could not finish it at all and left behind 3 pieces. Service itself was meh. They made sure to inform us that the tip was not included in the bill.

I aspire, as an American, to learn from and look up to other cultures. I feel very honored to have dined in a restaurant managed by him on our trip to Portugal. I'm going to recommend to our travel coordinator to add this restaurant to the Google map recommendations list because more people need to go to this place - they need more tables, more space, because I'm convinced this is such a hidden gem that should be exposed to the masses to enjoy! We visited several wineries and this restaurant had the best wine - bar none! The fish, a fish I hadn't tried before, was deliciously seasoned, falls apart with the fork, the creamy rice was just divine. I normally will never eat little cherry/grape tomatoes - ever - but the perfect bite of fish, creamy rice, and a tomato was... perfection. The menu is deeply curated; flavors - textures - wines that make sense. You can tell Frederico what you normally like and he 100% knows what wines he has that you will love. The tomato, orange, ham, salad, was absolutely balanced and delicious. I'm so grateful that our first trip to Portugal we got to meet Frederico and dine with these wonderful people who love food and wine as much as us. I'll never forget it as long as I live.
