It's a hot restaurant in Lisbon for a reason. Their house special rice is amazing... can't miss it. Make your reservations!

Paella
Darrell L.

I only use Yelp reviews to base my decisions on where to eat when we travel. The accolades the paella was given made it sound like it would be the best ever. I can't describe how disappointed I was. It tasted nothing like the paella I had in Spain (but not many places do) and all of the seafood was bland and dry. We had the prawns as an app and they were ok. Service was decent and the wine was great. Besides that, I don't really have much positive to say about this place.

Grilled grouper

Came here by myself around 3pm on a Sunday. There was a line that took about 40 minutes to get seated. Once seated, you have to actively get the waiters attention to order but I understand as it was very busy. They sat me outside and had a large outdoor seating patio. I ordered the grilled grouper as it was recommended. It tasted fantastic. The portion was large though so I couldn't finish it. They did recommend a traditional Portuguese almond dessert but it wasn't to my liking but worth a try! Overall, would definitely come back.

Seafood Rice is amazing! It is even better the next day! We came here knowing there would be a line to get in. We waited maybe 10 minutes. The bread and olives to start goes perfect with a nice bottle of wine. Great service, huge patio area. Lovely night out!

Arroz de Marisco (Seafood Rice), 27.5€
James M.

Pinoquio came highly recommended, and for good reason. Hands down the best meal we had in Lisboa. The queue obviously sucks, and reservations seem rather hard to confirm; however, whether you sit inside or out, you'll certainly be satisfied with the following... Food quality: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 5/5 Price: 5/5 The Arroz de Marisco (Seafood Rice) is def the star of the show. An order for 1 person (27.5€) can easily feed 2 people. The restaurant was flowing, as I'm sure it always is, day and night, and I'm pretty sure I saw Arroz de Marisco at most if not every single table. Definitely try this restaurant & dish if you're visiting Lisboa. And since they have continuous serving throughout the day, I highly advise coming during off peak hours (4-7pm) to minimize queues. Saúde!

Fantastic! We sat outdoors on their patio. It was a very sunny day and the umbrellas completely blocked the sun, something that was inconsistent in Lisbon restaurants. We were seated immediately when we arrived at a very nice table with a partial view of the kitchen. The server was outstanding! We described what we liked and he made recommendations. Be sure you know - when you go to a nice restaurant in Portugal, they bring bread, butter, olives, and sometimes other items. These are not complimentary. And while they are not expensive and you can refuse them, we chose to keep and enjoy them. We also started with a salad for two. It was a leafy green salad with marinated vegetables and it was really delicious. The size was generous, but we did finish it before our main course arrived. I'd been craving Paella lately and they had several versions on the menu. I had the seafood Paella. My wife had steak with mushroom sauce. The Paella was really outstanding. While I thought the rice was a little too soupy, it had a wonderful saffron flavor. There were huge chunks of fish, lots of shrimp (one of which was head-on), squid, and in the center there was a nice sized lobster tail. The portion was so large I could not finish it. They serve it with homemade potato chips. We also had a small bottle of Vino Verdo (green (white) wine), recommended by our server. It was terrific (and can be seen in one of my photos). We finished our meal with a coffee for my wife and an espresso for me. By Portuguese standards, Restaurante Pinóquio is quite expensive. By US standards it was quite reasonable. If we go back to Lisbon, Restaurante Pinóquio is a must go to. Incidentally, it is attached to a very nice looking hotel we will also look into and is in a fun area to walk around in. They really went above and beyond to ensure we had a great experience.

Went to both the main one and the one at Time Out. They were both great and did not disappoint. The portions are generous, so don't let the prices discourage you, if you're on a budget. One plate can easily feed two hungry people (and we can eat:-). We had the seafood rice. It came in a pot. Lots of seafood. We also had the big shrimp dish and the clams. Delicious. It's not your typical romantic atmosphere and it's not very quiet but it's a lot of fun and you get to make friends with people around your table!

Paella
Steffi H.

Definitely one of my favorite meals I had in Lisbon. A little on the pricier side, but the paella was huge - enough for two with leftovers. And the seafood was so fresh and fragrant. Lots of great flavor and located centrally and right next door to the pastel de Nata shop.

Crab! Served cold :)

What a great experience! The paella was absolutely amazing--packed with flavor and perfectly cooked. My son ordered the crab, and it was massive and delicious. The service throughout our meal was attentive and friendly. We especially appreciated the shaded seating and refreshing water mist--much needed in the Portuguese heat! Was it worth the wait? Absolutely. If you're looking for great food, this place is worth every minute. Highly recommend!

Seafood rice with class and lobster & smoked duck and sausage paella

We wandered in on a Tuesday afternoon and had no pruno getting a seat. The service was fine and the food was amazing. We had the seafood rice and smoked duck paella. Both had very different but delicious flavors and very generous proportions.

We were recommended Pinóquio by our hotel lobby and wow were we impressed. This probably was the best meal we had on our trip! We came in on a Saturday night for dinner and the outside terrace was packed. This was for good reason as the food was top tier. We ordered the mixed BBQ and seafood pasta. The meat was tender and full of the garlicky flavor while the pasta's seafood was so fresh and had a savory broth. Even though the price here may be a bit more expensive, it is well worth it for the portion size and quality of food you receive. Local Portuguese dishes can't get better than Pinóquio and this restaurant is definitely a must visit when you are in Lisbon!

Hello everyone! So we find ourselves in beautiful Lisbon, Portugal as we are kicking off a wonderful vacation in this beautiful city. Getting our bearings and after some settling in we decided to get some dinner and seafood was in order. Now Portugal is know for good food and Lisbon had no shortage of it for sure. So after consulting our trusty Yelp app, we found Restaurante Pinoquio which was just 5 to 10 minutes away from the Sofitel Liberadere which is a wonderful hotel on Portugal's parallel to the Champs Elyssee in Paris but that is for another review. Upon arriving we were greeted and seated quite fast but It was a Tuesday night and from the looks of things, I can definitely see this place getting packed as we get closer to the weekend. Plenty of locals in the mix at this place which is always a great sign and dining "Al Fresco" is in order as all seating is outside. This should not be a problem as most evenings in Lisbon are very nice and it's a great way to people watch as well. Francisco and Marco our servers did an great job of making some recommendations and soon we were all enjoying some awesome toasted bread and Calamata olives which were absolutely delicious. Quick note is that butter is normally already on the bread so if you don't want any make sure to let them know. For starters we all had the Seafood Bisque or as they call it "Crema de Marisco". which was delicious and for our main courses we went with the two (2h "Bacalao Al Horno" with Baked Potatoes and Veggies. Now the portions are quite big here, so if you are not extremely hungry, splitting a meal with your significant other is very possible. Prices are very reasonable by US standards but on the high side by Portugal standards. Well worth the money though. Parking is pretty much non-existent so I would not even try it. Highly recommend you UBER or take a nice walk as the City is quite beautiful. Will definitely say that the area this restaurant is located in is pretty upscale and plenty of high end shops and cafes along the way to check out. Overall we had an excellent experience and will definitely be back for more. So if you find yourself in Lisbon and are in the mood for a nice outside dining experience feel free to check them out. Enjoy and Bon Appétit m'es amis!

Seafood rice
Lauren T.

Definitely felt geared more towards tourists. The seafood pasta had macaroni pasta, but the sauce wasn't too bad. I wouldn't recommend getting the seafood rice, which came with a different sauce/soup and didn't taste great. The seafood paella was also only ok, wouldn't get it again.

Table seating was by the front and along one wall with the rest at the bar that dominated the middle of the restaurant. Menu was almost the same with a great selection of seafood ranging from tacos, ceviche appetizers to pasta, fish and shellfish entrees with many Asian flavors. The Peruvian ceviche was very nice with thin slices of fish, radish and red onions. The corn nuts added a nice crunch. It also came with a small bowl of toasted crostini chips. The cuttlefish tacos were delicious.. Big chunks of cuttlefish topped with tomatoes and placed on a small tortilla with a white sauce. We actually ordered just one but comped a pair. Sea bass was the best with its crunchy pan fried skin side topped with nori and the moist fish went perfectly with the barley and miso sauce combination. Even the bok choy was cooked well. The squid ink pasta had a mild sauce but scallops were nicely seared. At the end the owner offered us a shot of ginja to try for our first time. It was sweet but at least lower in alcohol,16%. Another great meal and service even two years later. Would highly recommend for anyone wanting some seafood here in Lisbon.

We did not have any reservations and we're having difficulty being seated at restaurants but our party of 5 was very lucky that there happened to be a cancellation for a larger party. The service was excellent and I really enjoyed the vibe and ambiance. It was a very modern ambiance with some nods to the seafood theme of the restaurant. Our server was so fun and had great recommendations. For the small plates, we shared the tuna, scallop, burrata shrimp, mixed ceviche! We were told the mixed ceviche was the most popular. It was one of the most unique and favorite dishes and had sweet potato in it (such a great twist!). All the dishes were great but I also really enjoyed the combination of flavors and textures in the shrimp burrata and tuna dish. For big plates, we had the octopus and the golden rice. Both were very unique dishes. I loved how rich and creamy the risotto was in the golden rice and enjoyed the crunch of the fried chickpeas with the octopus dish. The wine selection was also great! We had three different bottles from varying Portugal regions. Definitely would return in a future visit!

When you find Estrela Da Bica, it is on a side street right off of the steep street with the trolley that is famous. There was a small open door with a sign asking us to wait outside to be seated (so as not to crowd the restaurant). Make sure to follow these instructions, as my family and I watched some other unaware tourists walk straight in, grab a menu, and promptly get asked to go wait outside. After a minute or two, we were seated by one of the staff (possibly the owner?). The staff was all women, and they seemed very proud of their restaurant. The decor was quirky and very homey, with various mismatched tables and chairs. We were informed that the food is all meant to be shareable plates, and we started off by just getting some sourdough bread with dips. There were multiple different kinds of bread and the dips kept them interesting, one being a fish spread. One of the appetizers caught my eye instantly, the roasted pork belly, banana mash, and pico de gallo. I usually like banana flavors mixed with savory (I've tried weird combinations like a peanut butter banana hamburger before) so I knew I had to try this. The outside of the pork belly was perfectly crunchy while the inside was tender. As I expected (but I would guess most people wouldn't), the banana mash complimented the rich savory flavors of the pork belly. For the mains, we ordered the pink marlin tataki with pineapple chutney, potato and rosemary sourdough pizzeta, roasted Hokkaido with butternut mash, dried nuts sand, and house kimchi, the confit codfish cheeks with poached egg and crispy chips, and the pork cheek ravioli with mustard sauce and buckwheat popcorn. They were all intriguing flavor combinations that I would never have thought of in my life!! What stood out to me was the confit codfish cheeks with poached egg and the crispy potato chips. We had tried other codfish dishes around Lisboa and had noticed that it was the most common fish there. But this combination was luscious, with the soft egg coating the fish and the chips adding a nice crunch to every bite. It was like a fish carbonara in a way with the poached egg providing a sauce. This was the standout dish to me, representing what Lisboa is all about while not being afraid to take risks. All of the other dishes were interesting too, and each left me with new ideas of combinations that I would have never thought of. After the dinner was so impressive, we were enticed by the dessert. We got the chocolate mousse and basque cheesecake with guava jam. These were Like I said, the staff seemed proud of their establishment and rightfully so. Estrella da Bica may be a small, simple, establishment, but they are not afraid to push the boundaries of gastronomy. This was the kind of restaurant that flies under the radar, but I consider myself lucky to have stumbled upon it.

The atmosphere and food were so good that it didn't even matter. Our waiter was fabulous. This is a place you need to try.
