This place was hands down the best meal I've had in Lisbon. I live in NYC and consider myself a bit of a food snob and this place did not disappoint. I ordered the sardines on toast, grilled cabbage with Stilton sauce, and the pork ribs. Everything was delicious but the grilled cabbage was the highlight. The sauce was so good that I had to ask for a few pieces of bread so I could soak off all the sauce. I left there full and very happy!

This is a lovely little unpretentious local testy and was a real find on our trip to Lisbon. The owner and staff were so welcoming. On a small side street next to the Bica funicular we had a table on the street, which seems to be shared with the coffee shop opposite in the day time. The food was delicious and some of the best we had in Lisbon. Portuguese wine can be a bit of a mine field with lots of local grapes and varieties not found elsewhere but the staff were really helpful in finding something we loved.

The slowest table service I have ever experienced in my 30 years of existence but the food, holy fuck balls guys: that stuff is amazing! Quite a bit of a wait to get seated but once we entered it was truly an amazing experience, very intimate seating arrangement and some exceptional dishes that they served

As a vegetarian it isn't as easy to find a great restaurant without sacrificing quality or creativity. Went there with my friend who goes with meat and I enjoyed a wonderful vegetarian dish. Will return sooner or later, staff very friendly and relaxed. - Alex's girlfriend

The service is amazing, as is the ambiance. We did have a slight problem with ordering one thing, and a different thing coming out that we would've rejected, but it doesn't matter. The attentive staff, and look/feel all made up for it. This is a very cute, intimate date-spot, and I would definitely go there again. If you're looking for purely Portuguese dining it may not fit the bill, as it's modern cuisine. Pretty affordable for what you're given, and extremely cozy. If you're craving tapas, it delivers.

Small place whose appearance and prices completely defy the quality, presentation and sometimes even inventiveness of the dishes. A gem of a place, one of the rare finds anywhere on the planet. If the place would be more posh and they'd charge four times as much it would be *the* place to be. Luckily that is not the case and we can enjoy it in its casual and friendly way. Busy, noisy and totally awesome.

But I suspect its target customers are tourists…read more They play American pop music all night long which is fine with me, but if you are looking for a local experience, this may not what you expected. Pastries de Bacalhau - the crust was not brown enough. May be longer time. The stuffing was flavorful but it's more the cod taste than the flavored mash potatoes which I prefer. I actually prefer the other local restaurant I tried the night before better. Caldo Verde - The potatoe part of the soup is great. Perfect viscosity but the flavor is not. It wasn't salty enough but more importantly is the flavor of the veggies and the spicy sausage they supposed to use that makes the soup taste different. Grilled giant pawns - The flavor of the prawns is not as intense as expected and hope to be. The squid ink pasta also lacked of flavor. That's disappointing. With the prawns, they should at least use the prawn shell to make sauce for the pastas. The pasta was tasteless, didn't even use enough garlic and olive oil to flavor it up. Seafood rice - Another disappointment. They used fish, small mussels and little bit of shrimp pieces along with some bigger whole shrimps and mussels. However, the rice was lack of the true seafood flavor that made from shell fish. They also added cilantro which overwhelmed the whatever left of seafood flavor. The lemonade was not a sweet lemonade but sour. Fyi. It's not fair we just went to another restaurant in the neighborhood and everything was so much better but people should know.

Table seating was by the front and along one wall with the rest at the bar that dominated the middle of the restaurant. Menu was almost the same with a great selection of seafood ranging from tacos, ceviche appetizers to pasta, fish and shellfish entrees with many Asian flavors. The Peruvian ceviche was very nice with thin slices of fish, radish and red onions. The corn nuts added a nice crunch. It also came with a small bowl of toasted crostini chips. The cuttlefish tacos were delicious.. Big chunks of cuttlefish topped with tomatoes and placed on a small tortilla with a white sauce. We actually ordered just one but comped a pair. Sea bass was the best with its crunchy pan fried skin side topped with nori and the moist fish went perfectly with the barley and miso sauce combination. Even the bok choy was cooked well. The squid ink pasta had a mild sauce but scallops were nicely seared. At the end the owner offered us a shot of ginja to try for our first time. It was sweet but at least lower in alcohol,16%. Another great meal and service even two years later. Would highly recommend for anyone wanting some seafood here in Lisbon.

The music selection immediately gave us a taste of home, with lively R&B playing in the background. The bar wasn't crowded, but there were enough guests enjoying food, drinks, and conversation to create a warm, energetic vibe. Our drinks arrived quickly, and the staff remained attentive, friendly, and welcoming throughout the evening. The service was honestly the highlight of our visit. The shrimp tacos were very fresh...perhaps a little too fresh for my preference. The shrimp had not been fully deveined, so I ended up cleaning them myself before eating. As someone who only eats deveined shrimp and fish, that was disappointing. The codfish entrée was an interesting experience. The cod itself was delicious and fried to perfection with a crisp exterior and flaky interior. Unfortunately, the wasabi mashed potatoes weren't a good match for my palate and overpowered the dish for me. My partner enjoyed the vegetables that accompanied his meal, but he found the sea bass somewhat underwhelming and not particularly memorable. For two people, including food and drinks, our bill came to about €89, which I felt was a moderate price for Lisbon. While the food experience wasn't the strongest part of our visit, Peixola is still a great place to relax, enjoy a drink, listen to good music, and spend time with friends or a partner. The outstanding staff and inviting atmosphere are what would bring me back, even though the food itself left us wanting a bit more.

We did not have any reservations and we're having difficulty being seated at restaurants but our party of 5 was very lucky that there happened to be a cancellation for a larger party. The service was excellent and I really enjoyed the vibe and ambiance. It was a very modern ambiance with some nods to the seafood theme of the restaurant. Our server was so fun and had great recommendations. For the small plates, we shared the tuna, scallop, burrata shrimp, mixed ceviche! We were told the mixed ceviche was the most popular. It was one of the most unique and favorite dishes and had sweet potato in it (such a great twist!). All the dishes were great but I also really enjoyed the combination of flavors and textures in the shrimp burrata and tuna dish. For big plates, we had the octopus and the golden rice. Both were very unique dishes. I loved how rich and creamy the risotto was in the golden rice and enjoyed the crunch of the fried chickpeas with the octopus dish. The wine selection was also great! We had three different bottles from varying Portugal regions. Definitely would return in a future visit!

He talked about how this place was in the seedy part of town but I was surprised to see how much the neighborhood has changed since then -- it's literally on pink street now, one of the biggest tourist areas in Lisbon. However, any worry of whether this place was now a tourist trap was assured by the fact that it has remained the same since that Anthony Bourdain episode over a decade ago and pink street just seems to have grown up around it. We ordered a bunch of tinned fish including smoked salmon, codfish livers, cockles, and mussels. It was definitely way too much food but it was SO delicious. The olive oil, lemon, garlic, and parsley "salsa" they use to dress everything up is simple but perfect. The dry white house wine was 3.50 euros for a glass. The super bock was flowing too. Staff is friendly and service is at your typical Portuguese pace. We ended up coming back here on our last night in Portugal so we could purchase the cockles and the smoked salmon. We also ate some razor clams as a snack while we were there and those were delicious too.
