After two years since our first visit, we came back and enjoyed another great meal here. The ambiance and decor was still mostly the same with a vase mor two switched in placement! Table seating was by the front and along one wall with the rest at the bar that dominated the middle of the restaurant. Menu was almost the same with a great selection of seafood ranging from tacos, ceviche appetizers to pasta, fish and shellfish entrees with many Asian flavors. The Peruvian ceviche was very nice with thin slices of fish, radish and red onions. The corn nuts added a nice crunch. It also came with a small bowl of toasted crostini chips. The cuttlefish tacos were delicious.. Big chunks of cuttlefish topped with tomatoes and placed on a small tortilla with a white sauce. We actually ordered just one but comped a pair. Sea bass was the best with its crunchy pan fried skin side topped with nori and the moist fish went perfectly with the barley and miso sauce combination. Even the bok choy was cooked well. The squid ink pasta had a mild sauce but scallops were nicely seared. At the end the owner offered us a shot of ginja to try for our first time. It was sweet but at least lower in alcohol,16%. Peixola had a fantastic atmosphere and excellent service. We arrived about an hour before closing after a long evening exploring Lisbon, and the experience started off strong. The music selection immediately gave us a taste of home, with lively R&B playing in the background. The bar wasn't crowded, but there were enough guests enjoying food, drinks, and conversation to create a warm, energetic vibe. Our drinks arrived quickly, and the staff remained attentive, friendly, and welcoming throughout the evening. The service was honestly the highlight of our visit. The shrimp tacos were very fresh...perhaps a little too fresh for my preference. The shrimp had not been fully deveined, so I ended up cleaning them myself before eating. As someone who only eats deveined shrimp and fish, that was disappointing. The codfish entrée was an interesting experience. The cod itself was delicious and fried to perfection with a crisp exterior and flaky interior. Unfortunately, the wasabi mashed potatoes weren't a good match for my palate and overpowered the dish for me. My partner enjoyed the vegetables that accompanied his meal, but he found the sea bass somewhat underwhelming and not particularly memorable. For two people, including food and drinks, our bill came to about €89, which I felt was a moderate price for Lisbon. While the food experience wasn't the strongest part of our visit, Peixola is still a great place to relax, enjoy a drink, listen to good music, and spend time with friends or a partner. The outstanding staff and inviting atmosphere are what would bring me back, even though the food itself left us wanting a bit more. read more

I spent 8 days in Lisbon and Peixola is the only restaurant I repeated. I loved everything about it from the tasty tapas style cuisine to the speedy service from friendly staff and ambience. My favorite dishes are the shrimp tacos and various Cod dishes. Only thing I didn't like at all was the cuttlefish taco. The caramel petit gateau is easily the best dessert I've ever had. This was one of the best restaurants we tried in our 10 days in Lisbon. Cute decor, friendly service, and simply amazing food. We walked in with no reservation as a couple and were seated immediately at the bar. Got a bottle of delicious vinho verde, which paired very well with the dishes we ordered. The ceviche was fresh and has a nice crunch for contrast with toasted corn. The squid ink pasta with scallop was divine. The scallops were seared nicely on one side, still tender. The pasta was al dente with a deep umami you can only get from squid ink. To contrast the richness, they added a few confit cherry tomatoes, which is just a stroke of genius. Our server was very friendly and helpful with menu recommendations as well as accommodating our 9 month old son. Absolutely stunning from start to finish. We had passed by during our day time walk and even for lunch time, the place was completely booked. We made reservations ahead of time for a Friday night and every course hit perfectly. The tacos de camarones (shrimp) were a fantastic start to a seafood-forward experience. My favorite tacos were the cuttlefish, crunchy and delicious (ask for piri-piri hot sauce on the side if that's your thing!). For mains, we did a family-style sharing of the polvo (octopus) with miso as well as the corvina. Both divine. Even in Portugal I still feel massivley impressed when octopus is grilled perfectly - not rubbery at all, tender, delicious. The ambience is great. I love the U-shaped bar seating, it holds together a sense of communion. But there are also a few low-tops if you prefer a more intimdate date setting! I can't wait to come back! read more

This was my favorite spot that we went in Lisbon. The fact that we went to the spot our very first night meant that the bar was that high. We overheard a man at the bar saying that this was his third night in a row visiting the spot. The server was super friendly and spoke great English. He also recommended some delicious cocktails and even gave us a try of the famous cherry liquor. the ambience is modern with glass artwork yet it's still had a very comfortable feeling. It's walking distance from pink Street in the harbor so it is very centrally located. When the check came, we were told that service was not included, though this was not mentioned on the menu or at the start of the meal. 04/29/23 - LISBON - Ever since we were in Porto Portugal 4 days I've been obsessing about trying this restaurant. We ate dinner @ an excellent restaurant named Taberna Dos Mercadores. (5 Stars on Yelp). We struck up a conversation w//the couple sitting next to us from Washington DC. They were telling us this restaurant was so amazing they went there twice while in Lisbon Portugal. I became obsessed w/trying this restaurant as we were headed to Lisbon several days later. I book marked it in Yelp. My wife & I did a half day tour of Portugal and spent the rest of the day checking out small shops indowntown area. The Yelp app said they opened @ 7pm we didn't want to go all the way across town to our hotel & then come back so we walked over. Much to our surprise and delight they were opened when we got there just after 5pm. I don't know if you've ever been to Lisbon but it quite hilly w/many ups & downs. It was a pretty laborious task but we were rewarded by an open restaurant. We ordered 3 dishes @ P *Taco de Camarao - Shrimp Tacos w/guacamole? & salisify chips? (Where?). Amazing spot! Loved the hospitality from the servers and all the dishes we ordered were simply delicious! There were some additional seating around the restaurant but the main seats are at the bar that wraps in the center. As soon as you walk in, you're welcomed by the staff. The menu is well curated to highlight the Asian, Latin and Portugese fusion. We ordered several different types of tacos, seafood entrees and dessert. The portions are tapas style so on the smaller side, so come prepared to order more than 1-2 items. My favorite taco was the sardine tacos. It was fishy at all and paired nicely with the vegetables! At the end of the meal, the server also gives you a shot of Ginginja which is the cherry liquor and it was such a nice ending after a rich dessert! Stylish, sociable spot with fantastic, fresh food. The nero linguini (black pasta with scallops) is the best we've ever had. Very tasty, not too heavy or fluffy, mousse chocolate is a wonderful finish to a superb meal. Their menu is heavy on the small plate, tapa style dishes meant for sharing, with a few main courses for those who want a more traditional dining experience. Non Portuguese ingredients such as kimchi, bao buns, tacos and soba noodles make their appearances through several dishes, offering diners a break from the typical. We opted to go the tapas route, ordering a trio of tacos (cuttlefish, octopus and sardine), amberjack carpaccio and a Carmel cake with raspberry sorbet for dessert. The tacos were tasty, offering us generous portions of seafood in each bite. However, the amberjack stole the show with its buttery smooth texture and complex citrus flavor from the ponzu and oyster foam accompaniments. My friend and I visited Peixola on a friend's recommendation a few weeks ago. It was our first dinner in Lisbon and we couldn't wait to eat. We tried: Codfish BAO with sweet chilli and spring onion, Octopus taco with red curry sauce and coriander, I then had the Tempura Codfish fillets with wasabi puree, and my friend had something I can't remember. We came here to meet up with some friends and they picked this place which was a great find. Peixola was mainly seafood focused with food from various cuisine. I can't remember all the stuff we ordered but it was all really good! Definitely got the codfish bao & octopus tacos. The codfish bao sounds sick but it was like a fried fish taco basically. Tacos: Tried shrimp and octopus tacos. Was expecting California size mexican tacos, given the pricing, they are definitely small. Very much small appetizer one bite sizes. Shrimp was good, great chew to the shrimp and tasted fresh. The octopus was fried in a batter, did not personally like it as much, but still good. Soft Shell crab Burger: Not too much flavor, the actual cook of the crab was very good, but nothing too much going on in the actual burger besides the crab. Overall fun experience. A small, trendy seafood place in Lisbon! We had reservations, but at 9:30 on a Saturday night, they didn't seem to be too busy. (Then again, I went in February). The workers spoke excellent English. What I ordered: I got the cocktail that is similar to a whisky sour. It was delicious! To eat, we split the salmon tartar, shrimp tacos, and a risotto. Everything was excellent, but the tartar stole the show! It was so fresh and I loved the small sides of add-ons. It is very reasonably priced for what you get! Got recommended this restaurant by my concierge and so glad I went! The atmosphere was amazing with attentive service through out my dinner and sitting at the bar area was perfect for a solo dinner like me. Although there was also a group of 12 that lived it up too. I started with a Pisco sour that was great. Then ordered a tuna tartare. It came super fast and was fully customizable with a horseradish seaweed salad, soy sauce, chive and red onion to mix in. There was black caviar and a raw egg yolk already on top to mix in. I recommend the horseradish and seaweed salad to be mixed in 100% and I added soy sauce to taste. Once mixed in, mini toasts were perfect to stack up the tuna tartare and crunch away on the explosion of flavors. I couldn't get enough, so I ordered the squid ink linguini with scallops. I was totally obsessed with every flavor in this dish. The linguini were cooked to perfection with an al' dente texture. The scallops were perfectly seared and super soft on the inside. You would think a crisp would not make a difference in a dish but the crisp paired on this dish was essential! I followed up the petite gateau de caramelo. I am not usually one to love sweets. I was completely obsessed with this dessert. The caramel suffle was paired perfectly with a raspberry sorbet and ginger crumbles within the plate. Each spoonful needed each ingredient and paired perfectly. The staff was delightful and made my visit beyond enjoyable. Ended my night with the famous Ginjinha shot. The place is a long double-sided bar with a couple small tables. There food is very good though, and the service is excellent. They get very busy on weekends, so either make a reservation or arrive very early to snag an open seat.
