This restaurant was recommended to us by our hotel so we decided to stop by. This was an amazing meal and we left full and happy. Their pisco sours were the smoothest piscos I've ever had -- definitely order one (or two). We ordered their recommended salmon & dragon fruit ceviche, the anticuchos (like skewers) of black pork belly and roasted octopus, and lobster & shrimp causitas (4 pieces) which were kind of like a single bite nigiri but over a potato biscuit. All the dishes were delicious and drool worthy. Seafood was very fresh and tasty. Not the cheapest meal in Portugal, but we thoroughly enjoyed it and would come back. Staff was super friendly and kindly explained the different parts of the menu so we could better decide what to order. The interior is bright, not too many seats, but there's a giant octopus hanging from the ceiling. Definitely recommend giving them a try if you're in the area and like seafood! read more

This was an amazing meal, out of the 2 week trip we took to Spain and Portugal (including a Michelin star restaurant) this one was the most memorable. Vibe: Small intimate restaurant with it's huge octopus decor hanging from the ceiling over the bar seats and chefs. Service: Our server Ana was highly attentive, answered questions, gave suggestions without being pushy, and was overall speedy. They had English menus available which was convenient. Food: All of the fish we got was delicious, beautifully plated, and interesting. I truly enjoyed every mouthful. We also got 2 deserts, both very good. We got a pisco sour which was tasty. We decided to try this restaurant after a recommendation and recognizing that they had a Michelin Star from an earlier year. The restaurant has a lively vibe with an octopus chandelier hanging from the ceiling. Also, seeing fresh seafood and fish behind the counter really get the seafood senses going. We tried several different sashimi's and ceviche and all were incredibly fresh, not over seasoned and flavorful. I had flashbacks of eating at Holbox, another Michelin rated seafood establishment in California. All in all, we loved this food. When asking people for recommendations on restaurants prior to visiting Lisbon, this restaurant was mentioned. So, I decided to give it a try. To my surprise, as soon as I entered the store, my friends and I were seated right away. I think it was partially due to the fact that we were eating an earlier dinner and partially due to the very rainy weather outside. But luckily, we had no issues getting seats without any reservation. When we got seated, we were asked if we wanted cornbread to start which we immediately agreed (little did we know that it wasn't complimentary and cost us per person...). We got corn bread on top of a bed of corn nuts with 2 different spreads. The spreads were very smooth and flavorful. I also had the highly recommended pisco sour. The drink was very nice - very light and airy. Of course, we could visit A Ceivcheria without trying a variety of ceviche dishes, so we opted for the TUNA & FOIE GRAS CEVICHE and SALMON & DRAGON FRUIT CEVICHE. Both the ceviches really had flavors that were bursting in my mouth. The combination of all these ingredients was something that I've never taste. Chef Kiko combine the soft texture of the tuna/salmon with the hard textures of nut hazelnut and cashew respectively. Both ceviches tasted a bit tarty - the tuna & foie gras one was a bit more sour. But, I really thought these two were worth a try. QUINOTTO NERO WITH TIGER PRAWN & SCALLOP The quinoa was made with cuttlefish ink, so it was black and makes your tongue black as well. The quinoa was nicely flavored but tasted a tad bit salty for me personally. The scallops were very soft. The tiger prawn was big, but wasn't too much meat to eat from after extracting from the shell. This was one of the more filling dishes that we had. Each ingredient was set so nicely on the plate. Recommended to us by a local, this was our first stop along a food tour we put together for ourselves. We started with a pisco sour, that it their signature drink. I wasn't sure what to expect but I was a fan. Light and refreshing, went down very easy. Since we were going to multiple places and this was our first stop, we on'y ordered a few things but what we did order was excellent. We had the tuna and foie gras ceviche- wow! The flavor combination was a symphony of delicious flavors. tuna ceviche, foie gras, beetroot, raspberry and lychee topped with crushed hazelnuts- drool! Small restaurant down the road from our hotel. No reservations so plan on waiting quite a while for a seat here. We snagged a table luckily our second try. We each had the tasting menu. The ambiance and decor are stunning. I arrived before 12:30 and I was lucky that I was seated right away. The waitstaff was friendly, and I told my server multiple times that I have a dairy allergy. He brought out what I thought was an appetizer, but was actually the snacks that are called the "courvert charge" (that I didn't order). It was all dairy, so I mentioned to the server that I couldn't have any of it and he removed the items. The ceviche de atum e foie gras was visually stunning and texturally interesting. I also had the taco de tártaro de atum e tobiko - delicious, exactly what you'd hope for in a tuna tartare taco. When the bill came, I noticed that (1) even though I hadn't ordered the courvert charge and (2) I didn't even eat the courvert charge because I was allergic to all of it, they charged me for it anyways! I had to wait a little longer for them to correct the mistake. I agree with previous Yelpers; it's a pet peeve of mine when restaurants charge the customer for something that the customer didn't order. For an already pricey meal that would have been stunning otherwise, I was disappointed in that practice. Visually beautiful experience, but they need to do better with service. Fun and innovative ceviche!! My friend and I split the salmon/dragonfruit ceviche and the Portuguese ceviche, as well as the hot octopus dish. The salmon and dragonfruit ceviche was by far my favorite dish, the different textures and flavors melded harmoniously together for a symphony of refreshing delight. The Portuguese ceviche was a bit too heavy for my taste, especially with the egg component. It also didn't have any of the fresh flavor that I expect from ceviche. The octopus dish was pretty average, the best part were the quail eggs that burst in your mouth. Overall, this place was pretty good and had a great ambiance inside. If you get there early (around 7 or when they open), it's pretty empty and you don't have to wait. Immediately following dinner, those of us who ate the Ceviche Puro all came down with food poisoning and spent our last night in Lisbon violently ill. They offer both a tasting menu (6 courses for €43.80) and a la carte. Ordering off the menu is actually a better deal unless you are really hungry as 2 dishes per person is fine. We ordered all 4 ceviches. Pure ceviche: Our favorite of the dishes. The potato puree complemented the croak and it was truly the most authentic ceviches that they had (recommend). Portuguese ceviche: the most savory of the ceviche due to the potato chips and foam and egg yolk that surprisingly paired well with the octopus and fish (recommend). Salmon ceviche: the sweetest of the ceviche options due to the pineapple, pineapple foam and Coco de nata. Personally, I would have preferred it to be a bit more savory, but there was nothing wrong with the dish. Tuna ceviche: Very heavy in the beets flavor and the fois gras shavings didn't add too much to the dish. If I had to skip one ceviche, it would be this one. I also had their Pisco Sour. It was very refreshing, but the size is quite small for the price €11. Service can be slow. After asking for the bill, it took them almost 15min to bring it. I'm surprised they didn't bring it quicker given the number of people waiting to be seated. One of my biggest pet peeves in restaurants is when they serve items without informing the consumer of a charge. A dodgy practice they do is that they serve you bread and butter at the very beginning (there's really no choice). However, they don't tell you that it costs €2.85/pp and it's not written anywhere on the menu. Similarly, they do not list out prices for water (€3/bottle). I'm completely fine with paying for both, but would expect a bit more transparency as it led an unnecessarily bad experience at the end of the meal and what leads to the 3 stars (4/5 for the actual food). Overall, the ceviche were solid, but be prepared for some unexpected charges, when the bill eventually comes. PRO TIO: come before 12:30pm to avoid a wait and bebin the 1st seating. read more

The food is legit, on par with ceviche that we've had Peru. I can't get on board with the odd dry breads, but the ceviches, tacos and quinotto we're all fresh and tasty. The giant octopus hanging from the dining room ceiling gives the place a good vibe and makes you not notice that the main dining room is actually quite small. This also means that you just can't stuff that many people into the space so be prepared to freeze your tush off outside for 1-2 hours while quenching your hunger with booze from the bar window. Thankfully we were able to walk in and grab two seats at the bar here on a Sunday around 5:00pm! Chef Kiko is a master of his craft and this place did not disappoint. It's a tiny place with limited seating and a welcome style of decor. We ordered a glass of white wine and declined their appetizer. We decided to order the King Crab, Salmon Ceviche and Beef Tartar Tacos. The Salmon Ceviche had amazing texture, colors and flavors. The salmon was fresh and the tapioca was a surprise flavor that I wasn't expecting to love. The Beef Tartar Tacos were nice, but small in portion. The cream sauce accompanying these tacos are EVERYTHING. The standout for us was the King Crab. The squid ink mashed potatoes were so unique, I've never tasted anything like them in my life. Decided to try this place because of the high rating and Yelp reviews. This place was easily our favorite meal in Lisbon. This place could have been a high 4/almost 5. Automatic 3 from the SHADY couvert charge they did not tell us about. They gave us a couvert/starter after ordering and did not let us know it was optional and a cost until we asked them what the couvert charge was. They should really ask before forcing the guest to buy into it. Pineapple and Salmon Ceviche - a truly enlightening dish. The pineapple and lychee flavors worked well together and was very refreshing. The coconut creme complimented the bitter citrus juice that most of the dish soaked in. The tapioca balls added a nice texture as well. I had to eat half of the meal before figuring out all of the different flavors in this exquisite dish. Portuguese Ceviche - the octopus and codfish were fresh and paired well with the egg yolk. The parsley was a purée but still did not compare to the egg yolk pairing. The potato textures underneath the olives, ricotta, and spice butter added a nice crunch. It was very different than the Pineapple and Salmon Ceviche but a very good savory ceviche option! Couvert - corn nuts, dry cornbread, and some chips with seaweed butter and olive, ricotta, and spice butter. The seaweed butter and olive, ricotta, and spice butter were the highlights of the couvert. The seaweed butter was good but wasn't salty enough. The olive, ricotta, and spice butter was very creamy. It was an odd pairing of things because the butters only tasted good with the chips. Although this is a pervivían visione inspired cuisine, it has its Portuguese touches. The Portuguese ceviche was honestly our least favorite. This place is really great! A light airy space, fun decor, tasty fresh food, and a snappy waitstaff make for an exceedingly pleasant fancy lunch experiance. Turning up right when they open for lunch (at noon) is the best way to ensure being seated on time and not having to wait in line for a table, although I think a wait would be completely reasonable, and the neighborhood of Bairro Alto is a very charming place to have a ramble. The "house special drink" is the Pisco Sour and it is delicious and pairs great with the seafood so don't be afraid to have one or three with lunch. A bit on the expensive side but you're already have a fancy seafood lunch so I guess it's okay. For the food we had the Quinsotto (a quinoa risotto, pretty tasty), the king crab causa (little bites of seafood on crackers, very good!), Gazpacho (fine, but I don't like gazpacho anyway), and the Portuguese Ceviche (incredible!). I wish we'd ordered more ceviche but we did want to taste a variety which we accomplished. Would definitely return for a festive and delicious lunch! read more

This is an amazing spot! So much yum, favorite spot in Lisbon. It's a tiny location so be prepared to wait, we waited over an hour for two people. Bar is pretty legit - but pricey. They make nice fancy drinks or nice wine. Tasting menu was amazing! Do not go here if you aren't hungry and aren't going to order this. Same thing with seafood - every dish is fresh and light and mostly seafood. Pairings and time between dishes was optimal also. Do you like over salted food??? Do you like waiting for your food FOR EVER? Then come on over to this typical tourist trap!!! They do pour huge amounts of booze though. So if that's your thing, knock yourself down silly. Wine - wasn't corked, but had been open for days. Everything was salted to the point where salted cod would taste sweet. In my opinion this place is heavily overrated. The wait was very long because it was busy. Also once we sat down we had to wait a long time as well. The cod was pretty bad overall and wouldn't get it again and the appetizers and overall meal was very small, considering the price this whole experience was very bad. Some of my family members dishes were better than mine but overall I don't think this place deserves the hype it gets, I would rather go to a cheaper place nearby and get some fish instead. 2 stars wouldn't go again. :( read more
