A home cooked meal served in the cooking pot with delicious rice and fresh seafood. Who could ask for anything more. Service was slow yet it was worth the wait. Food is messy so be prepared but so delicious. I guess.After dinner they provide a digestive of cherry liquor . Definitely a must in Lisbon .
This place was recommended highly by our guest house host. The line outside the original location was slam packed. Unfortunately, the main restaurant only serves one dish and our party had a member who could not eat seafood. So we opted for the second location with a slightly larger menu. What a mistake this we made. The seafood rice was extremely overcooked. The fish was rubbery. And the spaghetti was no better than Chef Boyardee. Completely fell flat on its a face. I hope this was simply an off night but it was pretty awful all around. easily the worst meal I had while in Lisbon. The only reason this gets above 1 star is the service. The man that helped us was extremely nice and tried his best to accommodate all our concerns. Would not recommend.
We arrived without a reservation and had to knock on the door as it was locked but clearly open with customers inside. Once admitted we were seated immediately as the restaurant was only about half full. The menu was quite simple with just half a dozen appetizers and their main dish, seafood rice served for 1 or 2 people. The rice took about half an hour to prepare. It was delivered still bubbling a bit. The red tomato based soup was full of rice, mussels (some in the half shell), whole shrimp and not quite half a crab. The restaurant provided a shell cracker but the tiny forks for removing the crab meat from the leg would've been quite helpful. The rich tomato soup was the best seafood rice from our trip. We were also given a bottle of piri piri sauce and used about 4-5 drops at a time to add a little bit of heat and flavors to the seafood rice.
There's only one item on the menu -- the seafood pot rice. And its per person portions, so itll come in one pot family style! And everyone has to order. We were a group of 6 and it came in a huge pot. Everyone had seconds. I have to say, the flavor here is intense and the seafood was really good compared to other places we tried nearby. They also do offer water. It was a little early for wine but we got a bottle anyway.
More than 90% of the patrons were tourists. That is usually a red flag for me but the food was decent. I'd say the apps aren't really worth the price, portions are very small. The seafood stew was flavorful with large portions. Service was okay. There is a sense they are just catering to tourism.
The soup rice somehow appeals to my taste better than traditional Spanish paella. There's crab, prawn, mussel, etc. in the pot. The single person portion can feed 1.5-2 male adults (with other appetizers). I recommend the squid appetizer. Make reservations in advance (I don't see an option on Yelp. Google map does have a reserve option).
Their famous seafood rice stew was the best seafood dish of the trip. The menu is short and sweet; we tried the garlic shrimp and baby cuttlefish apps, but honestly could've skipped those and ordered two stews instead. We celebrated a friend's birthday and the whole restaurant sang, capped off with free ginja shots. Fun, warm, cozy and unforgettable.

I am surprised that this is not Michelin Starred. Reservations are a must. Preparation takes 30 minutes and came to our table on the dot. We started with a cold squid salad and that was only okay for me. The arroz is simmered with a huge stone crab with huge chucks of roe, squid, mussels and shrimps. The pot comes steaming hot. ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!! It was one of our best meals while visiting Lisbon. This is a no frills kind of place. The super friendly staff works extremely hard to keep everything running efficiently. There are a couple of other restaurants with the same owner next to each other. I believe one serves other dishes while this one is only Seafood Rice. Patrons were 99.9% Asian. We know where the good food is.

We got the Arroz de marisco for 2, which is what everyone gets. We thought the food was pretty bland and didn't have much seafood in the stew. We appreciated how there were charging ports so that we could charge our phones during our meal. Our waiter also brought us free shots of Ginja cherry liqeur for us to try at the end so that was really nice!
I was told by multiple friends, I must try their seafood rice and this place was well known for it. We did make a dinner reservation and would recommend it as this place gets packed. (FYI: lots of tourists) They only have 1 main which is their signature dish, the seafood rice. The rice is cooked in a seafood broth with a good mixture of shellfish like mussels, crab and shrimp. You can add lobster at an extra charge. This dish reminds me of paella, but with more soup? We didn't really get any appetizers but they do have a small selection if you want to add more to your meal. We had 3 people and ordered one main for the table. My husband is not the biggest seafood person so it was enough but if you have big eaters, then consider getting apps. The place is kinda small and cozy but not overly crammed together. The staff was efficient and warned me ahead of time how long it would take to make the dish. read more

My local tour guide suggested the seafood rice here. And boy am I glad she did. The dish was plentiful, hot, and flavorful. I had a hard time cracking the crab but the meat inside was tender. I also ordered a side of veggies which were cooked and flavored to perfection. More big portions making me feel I got my moneys worth. Lastly was the delicious, free mango pudding. Yum! read more

Really glad I got to try the seafood rice here as it was really delicious. My family ordered a big pot, and it took almost 30 minutes for preparation, but well worth it when we got to taste it. The location was separated into 2 separate spaces, and since it was popular it was filled with tourists from all over the world. The only gripe about this is because it is so popular, it's not as comfortable and relaxing as the restaurant next door, but when you are hungry and craving savory seafood rice,that doesn't matter as much. Definitely recommended for anyone visiting Lisbon! read more

If you love seafood, this is the place for you! My family of three ate here yesterday and it was delicious. The staff is very friendly and welcoming, they were very busy so they walked us a few doors down to what I will call a "second" location for overflow guests. We ordered the Arroz de Marisco, for two people, which is like a soupy delicious paella/ gumbo and is plenty for 3-4 people! The dish had crab, mussels, calamari, shrimps, rice. Other than this dish, they have drinks, bread, and butter available. We discovered the Radler lemon beer! Give this place a try! read more

They serve one thing here and it's DELICIOUS! Came to Uma for dinner because we were craving seafood, of course. I just got to Lisbon and this was our first meal. Ive had variations of seafood stew from ciopinno to gumbo, but this tops them all. You can get a single portion size, or enough for 6+ people. I got a 2 portion seafood rice for 2 people and it was 35€! Seafood rice comes with razor clams, mussels, crab, and shrimp. The rice was cooked perfectly, and you get a lot of meat. Cash only. Will be back!! read more

Great seafood Rice & inexpensive, nice wine! Actually that's the only main dish they seem to serve and as covered by many other reviewers, it is good! Crab, mussels, razor clams, regular clams and rice...all cooked in a pot and delivered to your table! 15.5 euros per person and was totally worth it. Wine was 7 euros for 1/2 bottle. Ordered bread and it came with tuna Pate, sardine Pate, cheese, and butter ...really yum! Give this unassuming looking place from the street a chance with a great one-shot wonder and friendly service! read more

Their famous seafood rice was interesting. It was their employee that got 3 stars. If you are from the US, how would you like it if the host stands by the door and smokes? I wanted to say something but why bother? Everyone there were tourists. If you can't sit there for 30 minutes, this is not the place. They do make it 'fresh'. So if you don't mind an old man who looks like 8 months pregnant, smoking by the entrance and pay $25 for what looks like seafood porridge, by all means go. I was curious but will not return. you might want to go there to say you will not go. read more
One dish only restaurant. The difference is the number of meal you order. The food is quite tasty actually, as it should be since it's just one dish to choose from. It could take some time to get your food but that's probably the nature of the preparation process for such seafood rice soup type meal. Overall, no complaints. we found this restaurant on google and it was within 5 minute walk from our hotel. We knew up front based on reviews that this restaurant serves only 1 dish, seafood rice and takes cash only. as of Oct 2022, the price is EUR 15.9 per person, no bread (bread would be extra). the place was packed when we arrived and oddly with higher than usual asian patrons. We also found many asian patrons carrying on lengthy conversation with the elderly gentlemen (standing outside) whom i believed to be the owner almost as if he was a celebrity among the asian crowd. When we walked in the elderly gentlemen did inform us about the single dish menu but no mention of cash only. The flavor of seafood rice is a 2-3 at most even though we just returned from Sintra and was absolutely famished ...They give you very little rice and I was channeling Pink Floyd's ..."please sir i want some more...." the actual seafood itself is 0. Completely inedible. They threw some razor clams on top which was still cold and raw. The remaining seafood has been cooked to death. the shrimp and crab and all others besides the razor claims are all jerky level texture with flavors sucked out. I suppose it has been cooked for hours all the flavor has gone into the rice/sauce, etc. I guess this could be an ok deal if you come as 1 person however for more than 1 person i would venture to other restaurant with better quality and taste. We paid UMA EUR 31.8 for 2 people but we paid EUR 40 for seafood rice at another restaurant with huge delicious portions and edible seafood. we were kinda disappointed that we wasted our last night in Lisbon on this restaurant when there are so many other better choices so we will know better on our next lisbon visit.... read more

The service was friendly. Even though there was a line for lunch around 2:30pm, the host moved us to another restaurant with the same name of Uma just 10 steps north of the original Uma restaurant. We were seated within 3 minutes after lining up for the restaurant. The food was ok. Only one entree is served here, the seafood rice. The seafood rice has a very fishy smell and taste. I had to ask for lemon to squeeze the lemon juice onto the seafood rice to ameliorate the fishy smell and taste. The garlic shrimp appetizer was decent with a salty, mildly spicy, garlic flavor that was tasty with the bread. We ordered two orders of bread (1 euro per bread, a typical roll in USA). It took about 30 minutes for the seafood rice to be prepared. The garlic shrimp appetizer came out quickly. We were able to pay with a credit card. read more

They only sell one dish, as you can read from other visitors. This dish is quite similar to a Spanish version of Paella, only it is more soupy-like. The taste is very flavorful. You can find large-size prawns, clams, razor shells, crabs, and more. I wished that it was not as salty, but I guess it comes with a pungent taste. The rice was soft and creamy; it almost melted in your mouth it had a robust seafood flavor, which I loved. The service was good; the staff were very friendly. The ambiance is a typical small family restaurant, simple, small, neat, and calm. There's no wifi in this spot, so you'll have plenty of time to chat and catch up with your family and friends. Would I come back again? Of course, the food is delicious and a very special meal that I assume you can only find here in this city. Enjoy! read more

On a typical night in Lisbon, if half of all the Chinese tourists are eating at Baia do Peixe for seafood buffet, you can find the rest eating seafood rice stew at this place. Yeah it's just another place went viral on the Chinese yelp. So if you wonder why this place is full of Chinese, don't be intimidated and now you know why. This place serves only one dish and if you have multiple people in your group, the portion and price (15 euros per person) will be just multiplied. I bet that's why it's relatively faster to have your food at this place than the others. I enjoyed the food and personal thought it's more tasty than the Portuguese seafood paella which is much drier than the stew. I particularly liked the ginjaha I ordered here and found it more tasty than the ones I ordered at other places. Sparkling water is pricy than other places tho so you should go for the wine! read more

You know a restaurant is good when they only specialize in one thing. This restaurant only serves seafood rice, and at a very affordable price! The tables are small and very close together but there were many tables so even though I came with a group of 8, they accommodated us well by making a long strip of tables for us. We also didn't have to wait to be seated since it wasn't busy when we arrived. They decided on our behalf to make two big pots of seafood rice, one for each group of four. While we waited for the food, they brought over bread and spreads (butter, tuna pate, sardine pate, and a creamy cheese). I really enjoyed the bread, which was crusty on the outside but soft and fluffy on the inside which paired really well with the spreads that they provided. The cheese was very soft and creamy, making it a perfect spread. The pots of seafood rice were huge! It came out steaming hot and initially looked soupy with the rice at the bottom and tons of seafood on top, all covered in a rich and savory tomato broth. After a few minutes, the rice soaked up the tasty broth, making each grain of rice extra flavorful. They were very generous with the portion and we were all super full when we left. The seafood rice here was definitely a tasty experience. It was messy but hearty and very warming to the stomach for sure. Make sure to bring cash when you come! read more

Although the thought of a family run and one dish restaurant seems appealing, the service is not good. The older gent at the door was nice and not pushy but once seated at the table it was different. Asked for refill of hot water and was told it's additional €3 euros. Declined the refilled and then hearing them laugh and talk about it in their language was insulting. Last I check we were the customers and entitled to a peaceful dinner. The seafood rice was mediocre. Sand in the dish, seafood was not fresh and outside of the razor clams and , nothing else was good in those pit meal. read more

We loved it here!! The dish has so much flavor and the portion sizes were perfect - wasn't stuffed but felt satisfied. The service was kind and attentive. Only tip would be to order asap, the dish took around 45 minutes. The place was packed and busy that night, we didn't mind the wait since the dish came out amazing. read more
