I had a very fantastic time here. I will say that I made my reservation super early at 7 PM and I was the only one in the restaurant. I didn't realize the Portuguese eat a little bit later at night. It felt like I was in my own private restaurant so that was super funny to think about. Otherwise, though it was such a vibe, it has such a cute interior with paintings on the wall a Christmas tree on the side and a more modern wooden finish. Bathroom is also located on the first floor and it's very clean. Service was fantastic. My waiter, Nabil, was so friendly. He chatted with me and told me a little bit about Portugal. English was not a problem for him and I had no trouble as an English tourist. Service was fast, and he checked in with me every couple minutes. I had gone here as a recommendation from a coworker, and it was fantastic. The duck confit was cooked so tender and served with rice and spinach. The rice tasted cheesy and rich and it was also perfectly balanced with the meal. I highly recommend that as a dish! Otherwise, though, I ordered the green wine and it was pretty good. The ambiance of this restaurant was very intimate and it felt nice. The server was also friendly and as we ate dinner pretty early, it was pretty quiet. The dishes that I tried were the octopus dish and then a daily special- Moroccan chicken tagine. The octopus was not bad but the Moroccan chicken tagging was bland and lacked flavor. It was not great but the reason that I give such a low rating is because of health concerns and kitchen safety. I was seated near a little hole in the wall where the kitchen dishes were coming in and as such, we could hear the chef in the kitchen who was coughing nonstop. It was anxiety provoking and unnerving knowing that the person handling my food was sick. This is an incredible small gem. Only about 10 tables so it has a great comfortable atmosphere and amazing food. The service is fantastic and the prices are reasonable for sure. I highly recommend this place. Ignore any of the poor reviews from ignorant Americans that think everything should be as they are used to in Nee York or wherever. When I finally asked if I could cancel the order it miraculously was done. Unfortunately, it was cooked poorly.Parts of the octopus were crunchy and the potatoes were so over cooked it was a bizarre cross between mashed and not mashed potatoes and drowning in oil. Not sure if I just went on a really off day, but it was a terrible first meal in Portugal. I would not recommend. I gave this restaurant 1 star for the delicious onion tart and salad. That is where it ends. We ordered 2 different Cod entrees. I am not sure which one was worse than the other. Both dishes had a horrible fish odor, indicating the fish was not fresh and had an awful fishy taste, again indicating it wasn't fresh. The menu did not say, "salted Cod". Salted would be an understatement. The Cod tasted as if the Ocean water was still on it. Maybe that is where the smell and taste actually came from. We told our waitress the problem, she did ask if there was another dish we would like, but at that point, the after taste in our mouths was so horrendous the thought of eating anything else was not appetizing. When we asked for the bill, they didn't even offer us any compensation for the uneaten meal. We paid in full as to not make a scene or an issue, but we certainly won't go back again and informed our hotel, (they made the recommendation), about our experience. read more

Solid food in a cute restaurant/specialty store. Service was mostly friendly, once you get passed being chastised by the lady manning the bar for being a bit late for our reservation. For our starters, we got the paté, which came with a tuna salad and a seafood salad, and some bread to pair them with. We also shared some grilled shrimp in a spicy sauce (delicious!) and their creamy seafood soup. The soup was my favorite of the two, and had a butternut squash (or pumpkin?) base with lots of dashi-like seafood flavor. For our entrees, I ordered the duck confit while my fiancé ordered the cod lasagna with seafood sauce. To our amusement, the lasagna's "seafood sauce" was the exact same thing as the soup. The pasta bit was also kind of mushy and the cod still had bones (which is fine, but not so much in a layered pasta?) so I wasn't a huge fan of the dish. This charming restaurant was the perfect introduction to Lisbon after we arrived. They serve traditional Portuguese food with minimal ingredients that elevate the taste of each. Quick take-away: Friendly staff! The food was yummy and relatively cheap. My favorite dish that my friend and I shared was the grilled octopus, which was grilled with a nice serving of garlic slices. Who doesn't like garlic? The octopus had a nice chewy texture -- just the slightest bit so that you wouldn't have to spend more than 20 seconds chewing a small piece. The risotto was decent while it was hot/warm. After a while, it started to become a pile of mush. There was mint added to the risotto, which threw me off. It didn't pair well. It made me think that it was added accidentally. That was one of the reasons why I couldn't finish the dish. We also ordered some kind of shrimp stew (I forgot the name of it, but at least I have a picture!) it was spicy and guess what... there was mint! The mint actually worked well with the spicy stew. This place is a very unpretentious restaurant and it's small but don't be afraid to come in because the food was divine! The pork cheeks with lemon risotto are a must! The pork cheeks are soaked in a delicious and flavorful sauce that was not overpowering and the meat falls apart easily. The lemon rissotto was also very creamy and a great side to balance out the meat. We also tried octopus and this was great! Would recommend both these dishes. Lastly, for drinks, I tried a lemon-thyme drink and it was refreshing on a hot day. Place is small and fills up very quickly around lunch time. We found this place last night in the rain and what a treat! The ambiance was very welcoming and cozy. We started off with 2 Super Bock beers- a great local brew. For entrees, my hubby had the shrimp and couscous- I had the chicken with olives and dates and crispy polenta. It was all so delicious!! The couscous was the best I've ever had- a great blend of flavors (apricot, tomato, green pepper, raisins, cilantro...) Worth a visit just to try it! The chicken was perfectly cooked and seasoned. A hidden gem in Lisbon! After doing some research, I found this restaurant through yelp and trip advisor. Based on those recommendations, we made reservations at 7 and showed up there a few mins after 7. They seated us immediately and gave a menu that had prices and information in Portuguese and English. Prices were surprisingly affordable. We shared the goat cheese and fig jam appetizer and it was just delicious. It was a bit filling too so I would recommend it even for a three way split. We then had the cod and turbot as our entree. Cod dish had a good amount of olive oil poured around it and had I known that, I would have asked them to hold it or only pour a bit. It filled me up way too quickly and my guess its the oil. The food was great but I really do wish that they could have gone a bit more light with that oil. (Now I really have to burn those calories!!!) Finally, we ordered their chocolate cake to share. It came with vanilla ice cream and mint sauce and it was delicious. The service throughout was friendly and attentive. Food was wonderful and the value was exceptional. I wish I had discovered this place earlier - a wonderful little restaurant. The final total with two entrees, an appetizer, dessert and coffee came to be a bit less than 35 euros. A great deal, indeed! read more

Charming, high level of service and very good food for an incredible price. My husband and I had a nice Portuguese bottle of white that our server recommend (not too dry with just a hint of fruit ). We started with the traditional couvert (some bread, olives and pate). If I were only to choose one of the pates, it would be the crawfish, the tuna was fine, but nothing special. We ordered this as we were quite hungry from our travel day. We shared the goat cheese with fig jam which was to die for. For entrees we both had risotto - he had the duck which was excellent, I had the fish which was just OK. I don't usually order risotto, but because our server recommended it, I went for it. Mea Culpa, don't order things you know you don't usually enjoy! In fact, it's the only reason I didn't give this lovely establishment 5 stars. I said yes of course. The waiters kept coming by asking me if the food was good, if I needed any thing else. This is one of 3 really excellent restaurants we have been at in Lisbon. The roasted peppers and pork cheeks with lemon risotto were truly delicious. Our first really excellent salad in Lisbon. Just looking in the window you know you have come to a restaurant where they are serious about the food. I'll post a photo of it. The chocolate dessert was excellent. A shrimp dish was fine but less interesting. Our other meals of about the same quality were Cantinho do Avillez and 1300 Taberna. Probably our best dishes were the pork cheeks here and the black pork at Cantinho do Avillez. On our last night in Lisbon we returned to this restaurant for their wonderful salad of melon, Iberian ham, goat cheese, tomato and lettuce and the wondrous pork cheeks. For our last meal, this was the experience we wanted most. I use 5 stars only for the Michelin star level restaurants so 4 stars is a very appreciative review for me. read more
