Stop here while visiting the city of Sintra. Street parking and right by the train station. Nice place food was good and the best part is they had Sangria. My family all had something different, we were pleased with our entrées. The only thing was it took quite a while to get a food. Wish service was a bit quicker!

Vegan sausage. Tasted like smoked stuffing from thanksgiving.

Local restaurant with amazing options for vegetarian and meat eaters. They had a great presentation, and the staff was super helpful and knowledgeable about the food. At the end, they served us an amazing local grappa.

The octopus, so tender and fresh. Also came with the best roasted potatoes I've ever had

Loved this experience upon arriving to Sintra. Right next to the train station is this great experience. We had some food and wine before doing a castle and it really hit the spot.

My boyfriend and I stopped by for a quick dinner since Metamorphosis is located right next to the Sintra Train Station. We didn't have reservations, so we're glad to unexpectedly get a table at such place. From the menu, we both decided on a couple of glasses of wine, some appetizers and two entrees. The dish that stood out for me the most was the beef with the peppercorn sauce. It was flavored well and cooked to medium rare just as how I preferred it. The quality of the beef is a little on the tougher side but I assume that it's the reason why their food is so affordable. My boyfriend's fish entree was more fishy than expected. It wasn't entirely bad but we thought that it was more on the milder side. The side order of the tomato soup rice was mediocre. I felt that it was very under seasoned and could have used something more to enhance the dish. Overall, the only positives that I saw was for its affordability and its portion size. Other than that it was just okay. They also only accept CASH, we've seen people having to leave cause they didn't carry enough cash with them.

Great location for tourists if you are doing a one-day tour in Sintra. This restaurant is just around the Sintra train station. It takes about five minutes to walk from the station. We arrived around noon and saw this restaurant so decided to give it a try. The pace of life in Portugal is much slower comparing to NYC or any other big cities. We waited for near an hour for the food, but they were really good. Metamorphosis is very generous on the amount of seafood they put in your plate. I've been to too many seafood place where you pay a lot but got only a small piece of salmon or cod, but they give you a lot here. Our waiter is very polite and helpful. He responded to our requests really quickly and never forgot things we asked him for.

This restaurant provided me with not only the best food but the best service I've had in Portugal so far. The menu is simple, classic, and the food is prepared perfectly. We started with sheep's milk cheese and bread with a bottle of vhino verde. The cheese was creamy and delightful, the wine amazing. I've never heard of this type of wine before and it's crisp and light, very enjoyable and pairs well with many dishes, especially in the warm summer months. I'd describe it as a Riesling and a Sauvignon Blanc having a live child. For dinner, my friend had eggplant with vegetables (vegetarian friendly) and she enjoyed it. I had cod with vegetables and potatoes. The cod was light, fresh, and flavorful as the chef prepared it with garlic infused olive oil with even more garlic on the veggies. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The experience of the service was top notch so even though pleasantly full, we had dessert and cappuccinos. We shared two: a cheesecake so light and creamy it seemed like it was whipped by cherubs, on a chocolate crumb crust topped with a berry compote & a chocolate shell filled with a cream so unbelievably light and sweet with cherries. You honestly can't even put it into words how amazing these deserts were, and the cappuccino was sublime. Highly recommend this restaurant!!!

Food was ok. Clams great but octopus was chewy with no sauce. Ambiance felt slightly unclean and service was just ok.

WiFi is available if you need it. We ordered and while waiting, enjoyed a bottle of wine for €18, a great value for a sit down lunch. Food hit the table about 20 minutes in, which was perfectly reasonable. My wife went with the steak, potatoes, eggs and sautéed vegetables. The steak was seasoned perfectly. I had the codfish with cornbread, sweet potatoes and spinach, a dish that is distinctly Portuguese and done really well here. Generous portioning for one, and again the seasoning was spot on across the board. A small but appreciated detail: the espressos arrived on warm plates, a thoughtful touch that suggests the kitchen actually cares about what they're sending out. Bacalhau na Vila -- A temple to Portugal's most iconic ingredient…read more Portugal has a deep culinary relationship with Bacalhau, and Bacalhau na Vila leans into that heritage completely. This isn't simply a restaurant that happens to serve cod; the entire concept is built around it. The menu explores bacalhau through multiple traditional preparations, each highlighting a different texture and flavour profile. We started with cream of spinach soup with cod, a surprisingly elegant opener. The soup was smooth and comforting, with the cod adding a savoury depth that balanced the creaminess without overpowering it. The appetizers showcased two beloved Portuguese classics. The codfish cakes (pastéis/bolinhos de bacalhau) were perfectly executed--light, crisp, and fluffy with well-balanced seasoning. The pataniscas, a looser cod fritter, had a rustic charm with a golden exterior and tender interior. For the main course we ordered roasted cod, which was excellent. The fish was flaky and deeply flavourful, demonstrating why bacalhau has been such an enduring staple in Portuguese cuisine. What makes the restaurant memorable is how intentionally it celebrates this ingredient. Cod has historically played a major role in Portugal's food culture, and Bacalhau na Vila turns that history into a cohesive dining experience. Service was friendly, attentive, and professional, with staff who clearly know the menu and take pride in the concept. If you're visiting Sintra and want to experience one of Portugal's most iconic ingredients prepared in several traditional styles, Bacalhau na Vila is a great place to do it.
