We only tried 2 cocktails at this spot, so my review is based on that alone. It's a cute spot with an outdoor patio and tv screen that had a football (soccer) game on. They have a pool table and a bunch of tables to choose from. Everyone in Portugal usually eats and drinks much later in the day, so right at open this place was empty. Service was good but the cocktails were very sub par, especially for the price. I don't remember exactly which cocktails we got, but they were very diluted. A cocktail we expected to be served with one king cube came in a Collin's glass and the other in a tiki mug. The one in the tiki mug was supposed to be similar to a spicy marg but it was poured over so much ice and wasn't really spicy. It had potential though. A speakeasy on a very nondescript street. When we rang the doorbell, we thought we were about to wake up some residents. Thankfully, we were in the right place. The music was at the perfect sound level to create a cozy mood that allowed you to hear your own thoughts! The interior was decorated like an upscale library with old books. New York City has awesome, cool speakeasy bars (see: Milk & Honey, the Shakespeare, Existing Conditions) but Europe just does it better. Foxtrot is an example of the speakeasy bar made way, way, cooler. I had some time to kill before dinner and Foxtrot was close to where I was eating. I didn't have to ring the doorbell, as one of the bartenders held the door open for me as he was walking in. Foxtrot is chill. It's dimly lit, the music is at the perfect level and the bartenders are friendly and seem like they were probably plucked from Williamsburg, Brooklyn (red checkered shirts and man buns abound). I sat at the bar watching drinks made. The drinks here are truly a craft and the bartender was clearly passionate about what he was making. I had the Museu Geologico (14 Euros). I'm not sure what it has to do with earth science but it was delicious!! It was made with mezcal, cardamom, and a few other ingredients that I don't remember off the top of my head. What truly impressed me was the garnish. The garnish was a blow torched marshmallow placed in rolled up dried seaweed. Incredible. The bar snacks are pretty awesome too- salty buttery popcorn, goldfish type crackers, and nuts. There's actual food on the menu, which I'm sure is delicious, if their bar snacks were any indication. I wish I got to stay longer and tried a few other drinks. I'd come back in a heartbeat. read more

This is one special bar. From the entrance - ringing a doorbell to be let in - to their enormous drinks menu. Service is spectacular and very professional. If the drink you want is not on the menu, they can customize any drink you want! I tried the steak sandwich as well and it was tender and cooked perfectly medium rare. The best part of Foxtrot is the vintage decor. I really enjoyed the vibe in here. The bar is split into smoking and non-smoking with a nice outdoor terrace. You feel welcomed upon being let in through the front door. Then it only gets better as the ambiance of the place slowly seeps in ... warm and inviting ... with a bartender who creates, with a smile, a cornucopia of creative cocktails. Our party of five all got adventurous, and then freely shared with one another. Very cool vibe! Came on a Sunday night in July. Love the decoration and the 1920's influence. The waiter was amazing, spoke great English, helped us with recommendations. I was looking for something light and fruity. Our waiter gave us a few recommendations. Everyone chose the Foxtrot and I decided to be different and get something else I can't remember the name. Once I got it I saw it was a slushed drink (not mentioned in the description) and tasted the drinks my friends got and loved it. The waiter asked how everything was and I said I like their drink better. He insisted that I change and get the drink I like although I was more than willing to drink it. Moments later I am asked to speak with the bartender who is upset and perhaps offended and began to tell me I read the description and should have asked for recommendations and how it takes time to make a drink. I completely understand his frustration, but never have I ever been called to speak with an angry bartender about a drink sent back. For this, I am a bit disappointed with this place. But I would definitely go again because of how nice it is. And for anyone who's made it this far, just get the Foxtrot as your cocktail! read more

Loved this spot. Feels almost like a speakeasy because you have to ring a doorbell to get in. The front part is very loungey and the back has pool tables and little more dive bar like (in a nice way!) My favorite part were the snacks you get! The cocktails were great too and if you don't want to drink you can get some great mocktails. read more

Foxtrot is AMAZING. We were looking for a bar near the apartment we were staying at and happened to see Foxtrot on the list. It's a bit like a speakeasy; we were unsure at first as the front door looked a bit old & knackered and you had to ring a bell to get in....but then the door opened and we were greeted with a bar that was bursting with all sort of tipples! The place itself is dimly lit and was playing slow jazz music which I love (sets the tone). We were led to the back room as we'd asked if we could smoke and we were shown to a table inside, but right next to the large 3/4 type patio windows which were open showing the courtyard. The service was excellent, the wine delicious, the cocktails superb (one of them literally blowing my head off, jesus it was strong) and the ambience fantastic. We fell in love with the elderly waiter who had limp, but couldn't do enough for us. He was SO sweet. My fiancee lived in Lisbon for a year whilst she learnt Portuguese and she says this bar beats any bar she knew of at the time. We went back to Foxtrot every night for the remainder of our short vacation. I wish I could pick this bar up and place it near my home in England. read more
