We had just arrived in Portugal. Our hotel room wasn't ready so we went sightseeing then when we were hungry, we asked the local a someone recommended this place. It was in touristy area, but the food was so good. Great fresh seafood goes perfect w vinho verde. We had a great meal! Don't be skeptical that it's in touristy area. Try this place and you'll be happy you did.

When I read the previous reviews, I was doubting if we were talking about the same restaurant. The pictures are definitely of the same place: the brick wall, the Campo Pequeno building, but the experience very different. We visited during a week night, and while the waiters were bustling in and out of the entrance we weren't greeted for a while - we were actually turning to leave when a waiter acknowledged us and brought us upstairs. We didn't realize they have a dining room upstairs besides the outdoor area. There is an all you can eat option as mentioned by other reviewers, for 29.80 you get unlimited fish soup, turbot, golden beam, grouper, salmon, squid and dessert. As we weren't that hungry and didn't particularly care for those fish options, we ordered from the a la carte menu for some grilled fish. The fish was ok, in all honesty the specimens in the display case didn't look very fresh, and in Portugal, and even in Lisbon (where my local friends told me they don't eat fish in Lisbon as it's not fresh as in other seaside towns...) I'd say their price and quality is just not worth it. We came here because it was close by our hotel, but definitely won't be back and won't recommend anyone making a trip here.

I was so impressed with the hostess. They were slammed & she took great care of everyone. The grilled squid and shrimp pasta were terrific. Skip the salad it was sub par.

Amazing seafood. The best turbo fish ive ever eatten. We were a party of 6 without a reservation. Was seated immediately. Thank you.

Came across this restaurant while exploring the Plaça but we did not enjoy our experience. Service was slow and it was difficult to get the servers' attention. We did not get the bread basket we ordered and so when we asked, they brought out double portions of bread (which we realized later on our bill), that was very dry and did not pair well with our shrimp dish.

Used salt and pepper to Give it a little something.

I ordered the grilled steak. It came out with boiled carrots and broccoli. I think usually it comes with fries but i requested potatoes. There was not a seasoning in sight. I felt as if this was a hospital dinner. I see other reviews that talk about all you can eat seafood this wasn't even an option on the menu.

The owner of this restaurant probably has no clue why the restaurant attracts so many Chinese, even tourists as it's in a pretty residential area and not close to the touristy downtown. Well, Chinese people like buffets, and this place once got viral on the Chinese version of Yelp I think. The seafood buffet here is truly worth the trip - actually it's not far at all if you take the metro and the restaurant is just a short walk from the train station. You can get unlimited grilled fish (cod, salmon, sea bass, bream, and squid) for 23 euros or unlimited seafood (shrimp, conch, crab, mussels, oysters, and other shellfish) for 29 euros. You have to have at least two people to order the seafood buffet. Everything comes with fresh salad too. The staff here are super nice and attentive. They first bring up a platter with everything and then observe which type of fish or seafood the customers like most so that they can bring the preferred ones only for the second round to avoid food waste. Of course, they ask for your preference for the next round too. There is a good variety of non-buffet options on the menu too. I have no clue if this place is truly exceptional or if this is just the average or business as usual in Lisbon for seafood. The only thing I am sure of is that too bad we don't have such a nice place in New York... too bad.

The food's presentation is lovely, as is the building the restaurant is housed in, but we had much better food elsewhere during our stay in Lisbon. Other tables that arrived later in the evening were served more promptly than us--even one that arrived after the kitchen supposedly closed at 11 pm. We arrived at 9:45 pm with a reservation and were ready to order within 15 minutes, but it was more than half an hour before a server took our order. The server also made a recommendation and then left for another 10 minutes. The food was okay, but the Misto do Mar platter was lukewarm when served and the flavor just wasn't there for any of the items (clams, prawns, bream, or squid). The plate is huge, but although we were hungry, we didn't finish it and didn't have the appetite to take it back to the hotel with us. The dessert was the best part of the meal, but it was still average. The restaurant is small and charming, but it's also loud and can be overwhelming.

All you can eat seafood experience. It was ok. The price isn't too crazy and the view from the patio outside was really nice. Friendly staff. We had a reservation. Bathrooms were clean.

When in Lisbon, Portugal this place is a must! Great! Superb food and friendly staff would definitely recommend. Our door dining has a great vibe to see the city view of people walking. They don't open until 7pm, we ate here twice this week for dinner and had to wait for 7pm to open. Seafood is fresh, and great quality of flavor.

I really enjoyed eating at this restaurant. The staff and food was amazing

Great food! And staff was amazing . I would suggest this restaurant, free refills on combos.

We were disappointed at the time but we found many other restaurants that had good seafood as well. We were traveling with other family members this time and thought this restaurant would be the best places to try pretty much every seafood dishes available in Lisbon and some of the unique foods that we can't get at home. We had barnacles, glass shrimp (it is supposed to have eggs outside the shell but unfortunately we were told the season was over so there were no eggs), spider crab, oysters with caviar, scallops, razor clams, and cheese with bread. My daughter's boyfriend tasted the barnacles for the first time and he loved it. We ended up ordering it twice. Everything was delicious. Everyone enjoyed the food. Excellent service.

We also wanted an authentic Portuguese place and not anything touristy. Be careful what you wish for! We took a number but were almost bypassed as they were calling higher numbers. I got the "matre d's" attention and showed him my number. He spoke no English as could be expected - not an issue! So, he bumped us up to the front of the line. We climbed a long narrow and steep staircase to reach a long narrow hallway with about 20 staff running about and squeezing by each other. Somehow, we found the dining room and our waiter greeted us offering us a choice of tables. Clientele were very well dressed and spoke in Portuguese looking very comfortable. He immediately brought us a huge basket of garlic bread! It was quite a nice atmosphere and reminiscent of an older home with high ceilings. We had trouble ordering from the phone app (as it should be because it was in Portuguese only) so our waiter guided us. No IPA and no wine except moscatel. But this was a cerveseria with no IPA! So we tried two glasses of moscatel- not our favorite as it was much too sweet. We agreed to the garlic shrimp and lazy crab. I asked what it came with and he said nothing and pointed to the garlic bread. I asked about ordering veggies and he said there were none! The crab was fridge cold but would have been better warm. The shrimp could have been tasty if not so salty. It wouldn't have been such a culture shock but it was also very pricey for what is was. I don't regret this experience as I was immersed in Portuguese culture and food. But no veggies is unthinkable! lol

Pastries de Bacalhau - the crust was not brown enough. May be longer time. The stuffing was flavorful but it's more the cod taste than the flavored mash potatoes which I prefer. I actually prefer the other local restaurant I tried the night before better. Caldo Verde - The potatoe part of the soup is great. Perfect viscosity but the flavor is not. It wasn't salty enough but more importantly is the flavor of the veggies and the spicy sausage they supposed to use that makes the soup taste different. Grilled giant pawns - The flavor of the prawns is not as intense as expected and hope to be. The squid ink pasta also lacked of flavor. That's disappointing. With the prawns, they should at least use the prawn shell to make sauce for the pastas. The pasta was tasteless, didn't even use enough garlic and olive oil to flavor it up. Seafood rice - Another disappointment. They used fish, small mussels and little bit of shrimp pieces along with some bigger whole shrimps and mussels. However, the rice was lack of the true seafood flavor that made from shell fish. They also added cilantro which overwhelmed the whatever left of seafood flavor. The lemonade was not a sweet lemonade but sour. Fyi. It's not fair we just went to another restaurant in the neighborhood and everything was so much better but people should know.

The music selection immediately gave us a taste of home, with lively R&B playing in the background. The bar wasn't crowded, but there were enough guests enjoying food, drinks, and conversation to create a warm, energetic vibe. Our drinks arrived quickly, and the staff remained attentive, friendly, and welcoming throughout the evening. The service was honestly the highlight of our visit. The shrimp tacos were very fresh...perhaps a little too fresh for my preference. The shrimp had not been fully deveined, so I ended up cleaning them myself before eating. As someone who only eats deveined shrimp and fish, that was disappointing. The codfish entrée was an interesting experience. The cod itself was delicious and fried to perfection with a crisp exterior and flaky interior. Unfortunately, the wasabi mashed potatoes weren't a good match for my palate and overpowered the dish for me. My partner enjoyed the vegetables that accompanied his meal, but he found the sea bass somewhat underwhelming and not particularly memorable. For two people, including food and drinks, our bill came to about €89, which I felt was a moderate price for Lisbon. While the food experience wasn't the strongest part of our visit, Peixola is still a great place to relax, enjoy a drink, listen to good music, and spend time with friends or a partner. The outstanding staff and inviting atmosphere are what would bring me back, even though the food itself left us wanting a bit more.
