Newish dim sum spot in Pointe-Claire. Super busy last Sunday with a line almost through the door by noon. The restaurant did a good job putting out the food, so our wait wasn't too bad and we were seated immediately at around 1045 am. The restaurant itself is a bit industrial with high ceilings and metal beams. However, they did a good job renovating the space with an impressive ceiling of Chinese umbrellas and a hanging screen divider with Chinese opera characters printed on them. You order digitally via your phone and QR code, which was convenient. I think they are a bit understaffed for the size of the restaurant as it was hard to wave down actual waitstaff for hot sauce, to-go containers, etc. Food-wise, it was good for Montreal. Probably the best out of the 3 places i've been to in Montreal (Tong Por and some other place). The shrimp rice rolls were good. All the staples like har gow, siu mai, char siu bao and fung zhao were all decent. The under-seasoned egg and pork congee was the only real disappointment of the meal. Anyways, we will probably return in the future. Definitely recommend arriving as early as possible. 10 am - ish seems like a good time on Sundays.

We love to come here for dim sum brunch with our family. When ever we come we are at least 10 people and they can always accomodate us as they have large round tables available. The restaurant is large but on the weekends dim sum does get pretty busy around 12 so I recommend coming when they open at 10. You also order from your phone which makes reordering easier since you don't have to wait for them to restart your tab. Highly recommend, best dim sum

July 9, 2023 - between 1:40-3pm Restaurant Imperial in Pointe Claire NO BUENO! We came at 1:40. First of all, their wifi doesnt work. We had to repeat our order 3x with their "QR code" order procedure. Finally it went through at 2:10. After more than 30 mins, we received fried calamari. Another 15mins passed, nothing came next. A server noticed, he called the waiter (quite older than the rest of the waiter), has reading glasses, took our order, speaks English and he went off to the kitchen. We were fine by then regardless of the wait, the waiter was ready to fix the problem and went off! 3 mins after, we were approached by not-so-cool-dude & rude! He's asian [Chinese (not sure), has highlights on his hair and wearing glasses]. He asked me for what was our order again and I told him that the other waiter already took them. He insisted to give the list of our order to him. My husband said that they should have it in the system first of all and we just finished explaining everything to the other waiter. The guy started to argue & told us he was there to help. He added, he can either walk away, or we let him help us. At this point, he could have just left us when we said that the other waiter already have our list of order. He even asked who's the waiter, I quoted "is he old or young", we said "the old one".... I can't believe he blurted "oh no no, give me your order, that old guy doesnt even understand English!!! OMGGG really, you are telling that to your own colleague?! During the conversation, he even mentioned that it is not his fault, "he is not the kitchen, he is not the cook, he is not the receptionist... This guy was ready to push everyone off the bus, to make him the "nice guy"! Dude, you work with these people, you dont need to put fingers on them, stop arguing, just fix the problem! My husband's voice sound irritated at this time and told him to talk to the waiter! He finally said yes, but instead of going to the kitchen, he went to the other table, spoke to another waiter and walked around Where is the sense that this guy was saying that he was there to "help us"? Shocked by what just happened, my husband and I were contemplating if we are staying or just leave. We felt very uncomfortable, disrespected and we agreed to leave. My husband went to the same receptionist who reserved us the table, she said yes, nodded, and we were off to go. The furious "not-so-cool-dude & rude" (take note: with glasses and highlighted on his Son Goku like hair) took another waiter he convinced to lean on his side, caught me at the door and said I have to pay for the fried calamari (i even heard he is calling the police ‍)! I dont argue with this nonsense, so I went to the cashier waited in line to pay. OMGGGGGG this son-goku guy stood by me still arguing, and telling me that my husband was the first one who argued . I was on the line ready to pay the $9 for the only dimsum that came after more than 30 minutes and he was obviously the one in the mood to argue ‍ I told him I dont have time for his argument, and I dont need to hear anything from him. Thank goodness, the person before me was done at the cashier was done. I paid the $9 they asked ‍ and left! In business, if there is a problem, you apologize and resolve. No need to argue, disrespect customer, blame anyone in your team and make yourself look good! It doesn't help!!! Definitely not going back and wont recommend Impérial Restaurant at 2315 Rte Transcanadienne, Point-Claire. Maybe service is not too bad overall (still giving benefit of the doubt) but definitely not going back IF THIS GUY STILL IN SERVICE and we are so disgusted the way he undermined his very own team instead of supporting them. HR of @imperialmontreal, check your staff. ***PS. Dirty Bathroom!

Pleasantly surprised and happy that the West Island now has spot we can go for Chinese dining and dim sum experience. We went Saturday at 5pm for an early dinner and was happy that parking was easy. The restaurant is beautiful and the staff were very nice and helpful. Service was efficient and quick. We ordered a a dinner combo for 4 that came with steamed salted chicken, ginger shallot lobster, Chinese broccoli, Peking style pork for 93$ and added a big tofu and seafood soup, siu mai and Cantonese chow mein. It was a lot of food for 3 adults and a child but we are happy to have left overs! The food arrived quickly and all was delicious. I'm still very loyal to my favorite Chinatown restaurant Mon Nan but I am happy to have an option in the West Island. We will return to try the dim sum experience

Kim Fung is a in a shopping center and was pretty full but we were able to be seated right away. They brought up dishes on carts and we were able to order even though our table was in the corner. While we were there, the fire alarm was ringing. It did not seem like there was a fire, and three fire trucks even came to check things out, but no one inside the restaurant seemed concerned so everyone kept eating. The food was good but it was a little annoying eating with the fire alarm on. We ordered a lot of dim sum classics that we eat back home in California but it seemed like the prices were lower than what we normally pay back home. The bill once we figured our the CAD-USD conversion seemed very reasonable. If we're in town again and the fire alarm isn't loud, we'll try it again.

I think they just left it on the counter in a bag the whole time instead of a fridge, or they gathered older pieces and threw them into our order, because the rice was hard and crunchy while others overly soft, and the avocado was brown instead of green. Maybe they thought we were not going to complain since it was take out? BITCH! I'M COMPLAINING! Now, I've ordered sushi from other places before, left it in my own fridge overnight, and it was still yummy the next day. That is why I feel something funny happened with this order, because the rice was hard for alot of pieces, while others were too soft. Kamakazee was soft, no flavor in everything, and avocado was brown and blotchy instead of a healthy green. The only thing that was good, was the pickled ginger and the fact that their little cups of soy sauce was actually enough for each person. And they gave plenty of ginger and wasabe. All this is where they earned their 1 point rating I'm forced to give them. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a big sushi expert. I frequent all-you-can-eat sushi, so I know what to expect. I was always a big fan of Kanda's back when they were near Fairview. I looked online and saw they were the cheapest for take out on large orders, so tried them out on their sources location. Very sad. This was supose to be a surprise for my sister, who just delivered a baby, and didn't want to go out yet. Coming from NY and having experienced dim sum in all of NYC's Chinatowns, as well as San Francisco, Toronto, Hong Kong and Singapore, I've admittedly and unfortunately become a bit of a dim sum snob. To my surprise though, La Maison Kam Fung was RIGHT UP THERE with some of the better dim sum experiences I've ever had. I'm not going to let it define the entire Montreal's dim sum scene, but if the rest of them are anything like this restaurant, then I would say add Montreal to that list of some of the best dim sum areas on this side of this hemisphere to visit! Unbeknownst to us, we happened to come here on Victoria Day, which is a pretty big holiday in Canada and when we arrived, the parking lot and restaurant was PACKED and bustling despite it being a Monday. I would assume it would be about the same amount of traffic on the weekends. Fortunately, our wait was only about 20-25 minutes since the restaurant is so big and turnover was high. ALL of the usual dim sum staples are served here and it's really, really great to see the traditional dim sum push carts back again as we turn the page on the COVID-19 pandemic. Dim sum just wasn't the same the last few years without the push cart ladies walking around and showcasing what they had in their carts. I won't go through every single dim sum dish, but, seriously, we didn't have a single complaint about any of the dishes we ordered - pork dumplings, shrimp dumplings, chicken feet, spring rolls, sticky rice with chicken, roast pork rice roll, shrimp and chive dumplings, steamed spare ribs, egg tarts - ALL EXCELLENT and right on par with some of the best dim sum we've ever had anywhere. Food was fantastic, service was great. The whole restaurant was packed like it should be for dim sum. I dare to say almost the perfect dim sum experience!

(Note - Did not get the chance to check out other steamed rice roll places in Montreal, but will definitely do on my next trip.) About the restaurant experience... while they have printed menus, you use the QR code on the table to order, although there was a helpful waiter to assist. We ordered a fresh Shrimp with Chives and a Roasted Duck with Chives Steamed Rice Roll. Peanut sauce needed to be ordered as an extra. They provide complementary hot tea. But she was a little bit concerned for us and suggested another rice which would be more of a conventional fried rice. She was very kind to do that but I said that I do like to try new dishes and flavours and that for sure I will like it. The general Tao was so good (talk about new flavours right? Sorry I was with my gf who is the opposite of me and likes to stick to the basics). The black bean pepper sauce beef was succulent. Full of pepper, and first time I see they leave the bone in the ribs for that dish, normally in other restaurants they won't put the bones so that was cool. The Ying Yang rice is half sweet and sour with chicken and pineapple and half with a white sauce and shrimps. It was very good, but I do understand why she would not suggest it, I can see people not liking the Yang part (the white part due to the sauce) , but if this serves as reassurance , I was surprised that my gf did like it.
