Kanda does not have a large variety on their lunch menu. However, in the evening they have a larger variety to choose from. Service is always quick and the waiters are attentive and polite. The reason I gave it a three star is because my favorite dish ( salt and pepper squid) was overcooked and cold. A bit pricy considering you can the same variety at lunch at Sushi St. Jean. The sauce on the general Tao tasted like the sweet and sour sauce from a bottle but the chicken was good and crispy. The sushi was fresh and well presented.

    Thai roll and tropical roll

My family and I were visiting from Ottawa and decided to try this place for dinner since we were in the mood for sushi. It's a bit pricier than other all-you-can-eat places in the area, but the service and the food were good. You can tell that the dishes are prepared with a lot of care and attention to detail. I would come again if I was in the area!

    Kitchen Food

I have been frequenting sushi joints for years as a native west islander and I have been to Kanda many times before and after its move, the quality has definitely taken leaps forward and exceeds its competition in the area. A little too much sauce on the sushi rolls but the kitchen food was great! Will definitely be going back!

    Worst sushi ever.

They described it as people with carts of food would circulate and you would choose what you wanted from the carts for the table and be billed for whatever you chose. Instead, we were given a QR code to scan and order dishes to the table. Some were fast to arrive, others were not so fast. We had to ask for waters for the table, and one of my dinnermates needed to ask repeatedly for the various sauces he has usually had included automatically. A few of our dishes never arrived to the table at all. When we asked about splitting the cheque, they got very aggressive with us and demanded we pay on one bill. The food was ok, most of it was fine, some of it was great. The concensus from the group was that it was just ok. The place was pretty packed by the time we left, so people do seem to enjoy this format.

Went in at 14h15 for a quick late lunch... scanned the QR code that they provided to order the Daily Lunch Special for $8.95, the Cantonese-Style Crispy Noodles. Five minutes later, a waiter comes up to tell me there's no more. I asked, what do you mean there's no more... lunch is from 10h00 to 15h00?? He said the manager stopped the special as it is Lunar New Year Week. I retorted by pointing out that New Year's Day is tomorrow, not today! I asked to speak to the Owner which he refused, I demanded to speak to the Manager... as I waited, the couple at the table next to me expressed the same exasperation ordering the same daily special today. The manager (pictured below) refused to honor their special clearly available to order on their menu system and refused to allow me to speak with the Owner. He threw me out of the restaurant as I voiced that I would make a complaint to the Head Office at the Brossard location, go on Social Media to share their unethical business practices and file a formal complaint with the OPC!! This establishment has been less than stellar since the very beginning during their soft opening when menu items were unavailable to order, short staff both in the kitchen and dining room, extremely long waits for your orders to be served, very unprofessional management team including but not limited to the Manager pictured below! And to top it off, their food isn't even anything special, bland taste at best... OBVIOUSLY DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT!

Kim Fung is a in a shopping center and was pretty full but we were able to be seated right away. They brought up dishes on carts and we were able to order even though our table was in the corner. While we were there, the fire alarm was ringing. It did not seem like there was a fire, and three fire trucks even came to check things out, but no one inside the restaurant seemed concerned so everyone kept eating. The food was good but it was a little annoying eating with the fire alarm on. We ordered a lot of dim sum classics that we eat back home in California but it seemed like the prices were lower than what we normally pay back home. The bill once we figured our the CAD-USD conversion seemed very reasonable. If we're in town again and the fire alarm isn't loud, we'll try it again.

This time around it seems they took my advice (lol!) as dim sum ladies were very friendly and the restaurant itself taken care of better. Food was tasty too. The disappointment came in the form of a small hair in my dumpling-- it happens! Coming from NY and having experienced dim sum in all of NYC's Chinatowns, as well as San Francisco, Toronto, Hong Kong and Singapore, I've admittedly and unfortunately become a bit of a dim sum snob. To my surprise though, La Maison Kam Fung was RIGHT UP THERE with some of the better dim sum experiences I've ever had. I'm not going to let it define the entire Montreal's dim sum scene, but if the rest of them are anything like this restaurant, then I would say add Montreal to that list of some of the best dim sum areas on this side of this hemisphere to visit! Unbeknownst to us, we happened to come here on Victoria Day, which is a pretty big holiday in Canada and when we arrived, the parking lot and restaurant was PACKED and bustling despite it being a Monday. I would assume it would be about the same amount of traffic on the weekends. Fortunately, our wait was only about 20-25 minutes since the restaurant is so big and turnover was high. ALL of the usual dim sum staples are served here and it's really, really great to see the traditional dim sum push carts back again as we turn the page on the COVID-19 pandemic. Dim sum just wasn't the same the last few years without the push cart ladies walking around and showcasing what they had in their carts. I won't go through every single dim sum dish, but, seriously, we didn't have a single complaint about any of the dishes we ordered - pork dumplings, shrimp dumplings, chicken feet, spring rolls, sticky rice with chicken, roast pork rice roll, shrimp and chive dumplings, steamed spare ribs, egg tarts - ALL EXCELLENT and right on par with some of the best dim sum we've ever had anywhere. Food was fantastic, service was great. The whole restaurant was packed like it should be for dim sum. I dare to say almost the perfect dim sum experience!

What I didn't know at the time is: (1) they also have NYC locations, including their U.S. flagship 1/2 block from Tonii's, one of my favorite Chinatown cheap eats and (2) Yin Ji Chang Fen's chains origin is in Guangzhou in 1958... and that location still exists! So, it was a must try! Glad we stopped by and would recommend it for a try, especially if you are looking for a convenient bite while on Ste. Catherine Oeste. (Note - Did not get the chance to check out other steamed rice roll places in Montreal, but will definitely do on my next trip.) About the restaurant experience... while they have printed menus, you use the QR code on the table to order, although there was a helpful waiter to assist. We ordered a fresh Shrimp with Chives and a Roasted Duck with Chives Steamed Rice Roll. Peanut sauce needed to be ordered as an extra. They provide complementary hot tea. (You can also order a can of Chinese iced tea.) Yin Ji Chang Fen's rolls were delicious, especially the roast duck! The sauces added make the rolls even more vibrant. Note - Didn't get the chance to check out other Montreal steamed rice roll places, but will definitely do on my next trip. Also at one point back home, will also check out their N.Y. Chinatown location to compare. To add, Congee appears to be another Yan Ji specialty, however it's not something I typically order.

I believe that there weren't enough servers at the time that we showed up which was another contributing factor to the longer wait time for the food. Once the food started coming out, it was very fast. I would say that the food was very good. We ordered one of the predetermined # course meals (I believed we ordered the 8 course meal). This included soup, rice, fish, lobster, salt & pepper pork chops, salt & pepper calamari, deep fried shrimp & chicken with a mayonnaise type sauce, a beef & vegetable dish, and a few other things that I don't recall. Parking outside the restaurant is free but because this restaurant shares the parking spaces with other businesses, it is hit or miss whether you will be able to park in the parking lot close to the restaurant. I was lucky enough at the time that I showed up to park in front of the restaurant. My brother wasn't as lucky and parked on the street for free a few blocks away from the restaurant.

It's a big space, golden dragons, aquariums, TVs playing Chinese TV shows. Next to the restaurant there is a direct entry to a different billard bar, which adds more 80s martial arts movies vibe to the experience. The lady waitress was super kind. They have some special names for some of their rices. When she explained the Ying Yang rice, I was immediately sold. But she was a little bit concerned for us and suggested another rice which would be more of a conventional fried rice. She was very kind to do that but I said that I do like to try new dishes and flavours and that for sure I will like it. The general Tao was so good (talk about new flavours right? Sorry I was with my gf who is the opposite of me and likes to stick to the basics). The black bean pepper sauce beef was succulent. Full of pepper, and first time I see they leave the bone in the ribs for that dish, normally in other restaurants they won't put the bones so that was cool. The Ying Yang rice is half sweet and sour with chicken and pineapple and half with a white sauce and shrimps. It was very good, but I do understand why she would not suggest it, I can see people not liking the Yang part (the white part due to the sauce) , but if this serves as reassurance , I was surprised that my gf did like it. I definitely enjoyed it. This was a fun experience, we had a blast with the lady. I could see myself going back there late hours when I don't want to have chinese food at downtown.
