a plate of food on a table

Clean sushi resto with original rolls like Titanic (rice wrap, tuna, tobiko, cucumber, green salad), and variety of other combinations and fresh fish. During covid, all measures in place to ensure spaced out seating, plexiglass separators etc. Staff very nice and service was quick because less people.

I was pretty surprised by some great sushi places in Laval, so I decided to give this one a chance as well. We came here for dinner and we decided to get a salad, 3 rolls, and 2 nigiri. The wait time was pretty long, despite the few diners in the restaurant, and the waiter seldom checked in on us. The baby octopus salad with seaweed was my favourite in this meal. It had a beautiful presentation, and I was able to even enjoy the slices of strawberry and mango, and I usually don't like fruit in my salads. After what seemed like 20-30 minutes, we finally got our main course. The rolls were pretty bland in my opinion, and the most offending thing was the watered down soy sauce that tasted like it was diluted with salt water. And with all that, we ended up with a bill of $76 after tip and taxes. I gave this place a two star rating for their salad and the quality of fish, which was surprisingly fresher than I thought. I don't think I'll be back, it would take a lot for me to come back to this place.

Wonderful experience. Great waiter that was friendly and helpful. The sushi creations were amazing. The freshness and flavors. Wonderful.

We came here for lunch. My Tokyo Bento consisted of a small miso soup, shrimps & vegetables tempura, grilled chicken, sauteed vegetables and rice. The miso soup was decent, the shrimp and vegetables tempura was good. The main course of chicken wasn't good. It was moist but held almost no flavor. How is that possible? The sauteed vegetables found under where chicken rested were overdone and tasted only of soy sauce and salt. On the side I had a total of 5 mushrooms, they were OK. The price-tag is pretty expensive for what you get. The small soup and Bento platter didn't fill me up and set me back almost $19 before taxes on a weekday lunch. This is clearly not competitive to other sushi places in this area where I can get all you can eat sushi for $14, how exactly can one justify a gastronomic single plate of $19? No thanks. If you're the kind of person who likes to eat in pretty places that focuses in its esthetic and not so much in its food then Torii Sushi is for you. Not for me though.

Decided to come here with another Yelper Jason for lunch one cloudy day. The place looked promising however when opening the menu pricing was quite steep. $16 for a sushi lunch plate?!?! I know this is not Vancouver or Toronto but there is no need to charge that much. Actually there is a need, It's called profit and it usually turns me away from a restaurant. I will pay more for food if it's exceptional quality however this was not. For my lunch I had selected the salmon bento. It came with tempura vegetables, a scoop of rice, some potato salad mix, fried mushrooms and the salmon was on a bed of carrot and cabbage fried mix. Plus a miso soup. All in all for $18.50. The more humorous thing was the bento was not even in a bento box. I was thinking why call it a bento if it's served on a plate? I asked the server as to why this was and he said "it's too hard for people to eat from". Really? seriously? Lol! So as I was eating my salmon I had noticed the middle was seriously undercooked. Like raw! I myself prefer more medium rare cooked salmon. However you don't know or can trust a restaurants food handling. So I showed my server who looked surprised. I asked if the salmon was fresh or frozen. He mentioned frozen and thawed. He offered another piece. I told him I didn't want another piece and I went to eat around the raw middle. From cooking salmon much at home I know that the center of a thick cut usually takes much longer to cook. So at home I never cook thick pieces! The funny thing is he didn't really look too apologetic. Good thing I didn't get sick but if you have a sensitive stomach you may not fare as well. You only have one chance to make a first impression. My impression of this place is overpriced VERY EXPENSIVE faux Japanese food. Lots of cheap filler on the plate. Oh yes and raw salmon! The bill came at full price I tipped minimally and won't be back. Slightly over $20 after tax and tip for this? Seriously people there are better places to eat at.

Japanese tea set symbolic of the genuine Japanese feel of the restaurant. This place is the real deal.

This was my first time at a teppanyaki believe it or not! I had only ever seen this in movies and…read morehad no idea that it's actually a resto style called teppanyaki. We were seated in the semi private area which has two tables and can accommodate 16 people comfortably... Maybe 2 more if you squeeze a bit. Drinks: I decided to embrace the unique experience by ordering a Ramune pop where you have to punch down a glass bead so that you can pour the soda. It's served into a glass with a lime flavored popsicle to give it extra flavor. Ordering: the way the menu works is that everyone gets the same things included with their meal. The only thing different is the protein ordered. - Onion broth: thin but oh so packed with umami flavor! - Salad: pretty good with light vinaigrette - Mushrooms: mmmhh fried and covered in soy sauce - Shrimp: delish and drown it in the tangy dipping sauce - Mixed Veggies: helps balance all the meatiness - Addictive ground ginger soy sauce: can eat this with everything! - Tangy chili sauce: love the flavor - Bowl of rice - Orange creamsicle ice cream: yay for ice cream! - Cup of Jasmine tea: wash down all that flavor The meats: with 3 choices of beef from least to most expensive--Beef Samurai, Sirloin, Filet Mignon. I went middle of the road with the sirloin but was able to taste the filet mignon off my friend's plate. Conclusion: filet mignon cut up in cubes had a rich beefy flavor that comes from the fat in the meat that is seared. It's really good, super tender and juicy. The sirloin also cooked and cubed has a flatter taste but still really tender and delicious. If budget is not an issue, go with the filet mignon, your taste buds will be singing! Staff was friendly and polite. The cooks, depending who you get make their own jokes to entertain you while cooking. Our cook did this knife flipping thing with his chef's knife into it's holster several times like it was nothing. I could just envision myself trying that and losing fingers and toes in the process!!! Overall, it's just a touch pricey but I loved the experience! We were all very satisfied. It's good sized portions guaranteeing that nobody will leave hungry. The place filled up by 6pm where every table was occupied. I will go back again!

You can also order to go here I believe. They really operate efficiently, expect fast service! Tables are tightly situated and there's a cozy bar situation where I sat this time, able to watch the chefs cook right in front of me. The daily specials are posted on their Instagram page, as well as written on pieces of paper around the restaurant. My server quickly helped me to water and a glass of sake. I placed a to go order for one of the daily specials, the grilled sea bass with sushi rice and salad, with some kimchi. I also ordered the BBQ chicken with tortilla and salad, as well as vegetable gyoza. Everything was incredible. Truly. The gyoza came topped with green onions and was SO crispy and hot and was perfect with their soy sauce. I thought sea bass was wonderful with a unique almost smoky flavor that melted in my mouth paired with the slightly sweet sticky rice. The barbecue chicken was great as well and better the next day. One thing I don't really understand is why they served plain flour tortillas cut into quarters with their food. We didn't utilize this, nor the white butter/mayo sauce that came alongside it. I hope to eat here often, for years to come and am so happy to see this iconic Japanese restaurant still thriving years later.

Once seated, things happen very quickly...it is go, go, go (in the best possible way.) We ordered appetizers first, the tempura green beans with a delicious truffle mayo, gyoza and the tofu salad (they make it fresh every Sunday). Green beans were everyone's fave, but I have to mention the (pickled?) vegetables on the salad. So flavourful! Also tried the egg drop soup which is so tasty. Mains were the salmon tuna bowl, the beef short ribs, the shrimp burger, and 48 hour pork with curry sauce. Everything was wonderful! Finished with their soft serve ice cream, I had the cherry blossom but one of us had the sake, which is a shot of sake poured on top. Amazing! You can even have wasabi or ginger... I'll try that next time (and there will be a next time soon!)

Combos come with your choice of meat, your choice of rice or vermicelli, salad, a spring roll and an appetizer vegetable soup. I got the chicken combo with vermicelli ($18) while my husband got the beef combo with rice ($19). The vegetable soup was mostly broth and only contained a single broccoli floret, a single cauliflower floret and a single slice of carrot. Oh and some green onions, lol. However, the broth was very flavourful. We each got 3 sizeable pieces of meat. Mine where chicken thighs. I do prefer lean breast meat to the fattier thigh meat, but they did trim off the fat, so the meat at least wasn't gristley. The marinade was delicious. The chicken was really flavourful. I had a taste of my husband's beef and it was tender and delicious. I did notice some gristley bits to the beef though. The vermicelli was nicely cooked. The spring roll was hot right out of the fryer and crunchy on the outside. The salad had too many raw bean sprouts for my liking. It also has lettuce, pickled carrots, and daikon. And also mint leaves. We both enjoyed our meal. Service was pleasant. The place was packed when we arrived, but by the time we left it had completely cleared out. Decor is modern and hip looking, lol. Clientele seemed to skew young, at least younger than my husband and I, haha. The restaurant is in a plaza and there's free parking in the plaza parking lot.
