I try to tell a story with every review I write. I have no story to tell here. Young, I was taught "don't say anything if you haven't anything nice to say". For the sake of those hopeful souls who may look upon this place with eager interest however, I leave you with these words of caution, made, with the best of my effort, succinct and untainted with the concentrated vitriol that percolates within me. Where do I start? Well, the place looks nice. That's about all it has going for it though. The menus were brief, usually a good sign, but when at length the food arrived, it came lukewarm. The dumplings gave the impression of being store-bought, the sauce generic sriracha, the udon carbonara was overcooked, the other noodles dry, the fried rice mushy. Just imagine the most boring Chinese food you've ever had, but you can't actually remember them since they're so forgettable. The food embodies absolute non-overwhelmingness: it was "whelming". As a wise Chinese sage once said: "I've had better at Thai Express." This restaurant offers nothing but the absolute most "mid" experience of my life. Maybe it's better known for its drinks. Hearsay said otherwise though. Where do I go from here? The place was packed and I can't imagine why. I can't imagine this being anyone's favorite restaurant. I can't imagine that, on the topic of a dinner among coworkers, anyone would possibly suggest Gon Bui and that this suggestion be met with excitement. Frankly, I'm a bit sad. It would be one thing if the food was simply plain --I know plain, I don't mind plain, I wouldn't be writing this if plain were the only issue. But this place reeks of mediocrity, its claw forcibly turns my head to stare at routine and suffocating 9-to-5s, at dread and at that muddled midlife stir that so often becomes crisis. It reminds me that I'm aging and that I'm going to die and that I've only long unpleasant years ahead. It is the place where passion goes to die. I have to stop now. I'm tired. I'm drained. I need some warmth. Proceed at your own risk. "Gon Bui? More like booty gone ahaha" -Wise Panamanian woman

Clairement j'y retournerai.

GON BUI = cheers This spot offers a wide selection of cocktails that are great quality & super pretty - they offer soo many different options with unique flavours so there's def one for everyone! I love the special twist they add to classic Asian dishes from the humorous names on the menu to the beautiful presentation of each dish not to mention, their amazing interior & decor - such a lovely experience! My favs were def the matcharista cocktail & peking duck dish

It gets so busy and not for no reason! The food is amazing for parties and the drinks are like no other. They really took it a notch up to experiment in plating and tastes. The menu changes often and I hope it continues to rotate throughout the year for some seasonal items and some evergreen items. I really like how I can pay my bill at the table without the waiter. Helps with the wait time. I think the only thing I would try to change is the amount of dips there is. Most our dishes came with two bowls/plates. One for dipping or pouring into another dish. If the waiter could do the pouring that would bring in some cool entertainment value that isn't solely focused on the customer doing a thing other than eating. It isn't bad (very yummy) but just a pattern we had noticed coming there the second time. PS. I miss "Le jardin de grand-maman". The oyster mushroom with the dip was *chef's kiss*

Came here for dinner with friends on a Saturday night. Reservation was made easy with OpenTable online, you get a confirmation and everything : we reserved for 7pm and we were seated right away. It's still new (opened in Dec 2021), the service was excellent and the waitress that we had was courteous and informative about the menu. Speaking of which, the menu was small, only a dozen items but I expect them to add more choice as time goes on when their business grows. The food was good : the Bang Bang chicken and its sauce were excellent as well as the salted egg carbonara. If you've never had jellyfish, you should try their jellyfish and chicken dish (presented like a cold salad). Nonetheless, we thought that some dishes could be better : the fried calamari were soggy and lacking, the sauce in the longevity noodles were overly sweet and the Peking duck a bit on the pricey side (35$+tx) for 10 slices of duck. The cocktails, although pretty and Instagram-worthy, were very expensive (16$+tx). Instead, we chose their Hong Kong Milk tea and Lemon tea to quench our thirst and we were satisfied with our choices. Overall, it is a nice restaurant for outings and casual high end fusion Cantonese food. I wouldn't mind coming back here with family, with a date or with friends to spend a fun foodie evening.

Love love loved this place Tapas style restaurant , perfect for sharing. Very cute decor and pretty bar area Friendly and fast service It's nice they ask you your name and you pay the bill threw a QR code which avoids them printing a paper bill. We got the bang bang chicken, the shrimp dumplings and also the carbonara noodles. We couldn't decide on which one of those were are favourite because they were all so delicious. Perfect portion to share and also pricing very reasonable and not expensive. Food is served in this cute Chinese plates which I find so nice. I think they thought about every detail when opening this restaurant Will definitely come back to try other stuff from the menu. They also had some signature drinks, all there drinks were doubles and only around 15$. We got the Pinky Swear which was a very refreshing drink. Definitely a must if you go there. Seems like this place is always full house, the only down side is that the tables are too close to each other and you can hear the other person's conversation. Music was also pretty loud. Definitely a must try for small and big groups and if you love Chinese tapas.

Finally got to try their weekend brunch menu. I was surprised that the restaurant was pretty empty. The ube french toast is scrumptious. The noodle wasn't very original though.

I love this place! The decor and atmosphere take you to a fun restaurant where you can relax and enjoy fun cocktails and good food. I would recommend sharing all the plates so that you can taste even more (and they work really well as sort of Chinese tapas). My favorite dish was the calamari; not chewy and a little kick of spice. The shrimp dumplings are juicy and wrapped well, a close second. If you'd like a more quiet time, arrive early as the party really gets going after about 7pm.

Glad i found this restaurant. Amazing experience from the moment we entered to the minute we left. Welcoming stuff, we had a reservation and we were seated in under 5 minutes (fyi restaurant was full) .We took the valentine menu , a selection of several dishes. Meduse ( your Jelly) salad with chicken, soup de Lily with quail eggs . Fried chicken popcorn and shrimp dumplings as appetizers , followed by Peking Duck (couldn't ask for better cooking and flavour) . End up with a generous and delicious portion of churros as desert . Paying was easy through the online link. Great service, great food , great decor and ambiance. Highly recommend.

I got there signature sour drink that was listed on the front page of there drink menu, and what a disappointment the drink was filled with ice, and half of the drink was the foam, I literally has 3 sips and my drink was done. So I had to order myself another drink, I got myself a expresso martini and I can confirm that it was one of the worse I've had in MTL. Also for the food we got the veggie dumplings there was nothing special about these...I got myself the chicken teriyaki noodles, there was not really any flavors in it other then teriyaki sauce, it was 22$ and I felt like it wasn't even worth the price at all. Will I come back for the food? NO

Service was good, I think we were near closure but we had 3 different waiter that were all very polite. They were helping each other and I think that's how it should be everywhere. Don't have a specific waiter for a table. Have one take the order and have everyone take care of everyone. I know it's not like that at that place, but it was during that moment. As for the food, everything was great. They did change a while ago the baked beans recipe, I still prefer the older one but they had it better today. It was less sugary. Ribs are always good although the half rack is a lot of time always a very small rack with not much meats. The fries were good but it seems the seasoning didn't taste anything (while I could clearly see the seasoning on them). Too bad cause I really love the fries seasoning here. We took the cheddar cheese dip at first, a must to share that come with tortilla chips. It's not on the menu and it's not available at all location, but this one have it.
