Excellent dinner experience at Sushi Hidden Fish. From the service. drinks and food all were on point. The restaurant has a great vibe inside with its grounded and mood of decor that is relaxing and sets the tone of your experience while dinning here. Plenty of amazing options on the menus Definitely recommended!

Amazing restaurant they specialize in aged sashimi. The food was excellent and so was the service and ambiance! I highly recommend this restaurant!

Super high quality fish including dry aged toro! It's pricey but extremely worth it. I had pretty much a religious experience with the fatty tuna! That one is expensive but it's pure heaven!

As part of our gift and visiting family, we went out to Hidden Fish to get some sushi. As we entered the place, it was relatively moody/dark with non-descript music a la trance style that I've kind of heard in boutique trendy hotels that play in the lobby. We entered and they asked for our coats which helps with the servers being able to meander throughout the restaurant easily. The only thing was that when we left, they asked for a ticket and they didn't give us any tickets. So if you do give away your jackets, make sure you get a ticket. We were seated on the side which helps with the view of the kitchen as well as sitting next to the bar. We were asked if we wanted service in French or English and of course, because of me (*sigh* but I'm learning I promise!), we had our service in English. The person who served us was very knowledgeable in the menu and helped us understand the difference between certain sashimi platters. We got both the Sashimi Premier Platter and Nigiri platters. Most of the fish were okay, but a good amount had this jelly/hardness that felt like it was bad fish. Perhaps my knowledge of sashimi or raw fish could be wrong, but the otoro (fatty tuna) was actually worse than the chutoro which is the mid fatty tuna. I've had melt in your mouth otoro before and this was that weird texture. Chutoro was much better. The salmon was also good. We also had two rolls which were pleasantly good - Nobunaga and Natsu. The shiso paste in the Natsu was refreshing. The service was a little weird. Like it heavily slowed down at some point and it was like...uh...when's our food coming? We also were being poured sake very quickly which could be good in some cases but it was like they wanted us to order more drinks. Water was refilled pretty often. Overall, the food was good, the ambiance a little more trendy, the service kind of meh. It's not a bad spot to grab your sushi especially if you're out for a date night. Try it out!

This place is tucked in on De La Montagne and a bit hard to find. It's also only open from 5pm five days too so no lunch. Food (4.5/5) - it's a pricey menu but they use high quality fresh ingredients with a modern twist to authentic Japanese sushi sashimi and maki. Had the Hamachi and Scallop sashimi and both were very tasty creations. Had Maki Natsu and Nobunaga and both were excellent creations. Service (4.5/5) - servers and host were both friendly and attentive and checked back in on me multiple times. Atmosphere (4.5/5) - it's a dark intimate restaurant with tables and bar stools and vibey music. Upscale look and feel. Overall (4.5/5) - I definitely enjoyed Hidden Fish and would repeat. It's a bit pricey and only open evenings but worth checking out!

We visited this restaurant on recommendation from family members and we are also sushi lovers. Otherwise we likely would've missed out on Hidden Fish. Given the price point and number of options on the menu, we decided to be strategic and opted for the chef nigiri set (24) so we could share bites of nigiri with the joy of being pleasantly surprised. Some selections were better than others, but overall I was happy with the selection. We sat at the bar and one of the chefs offered us fresh grated wasabi as complimentary and it really upped the flavor profile of the nigiri. If possible I would request this even if it is an upcharge because it made a big difference in our sushi experience. Knowing that we had a big appetite the addition of the Maki Hidden Fish was a reasonable addition to have us feel comfortable. The Maki was balanced as I was concerned the foie would overly enriched the toro but somehow the other flavors mellowed this roll out. It's hard for me to recommend this as it's a pricier option on the menu and tastes fine but also wasn't like mind blowing. The interior is off the streets of Montreal next to a pizzeria and other businesses. But tucked in the building is a moderately sized sushi restaurant serving patrons at tables and at the bar. Overall it felt warm and they had a great selection of music the entire time. The chefs were diligent with creating and serving our tickets. At the height of our meal there were quite a few tickets in queue so this place definitely gets busy. I suggest taking recommendations from your server and ordering all at once versus ordering in rounds. Overall it's a decent location. Not bad but not like the best sushi ever, but a good place to go out for sushi with a group.

Food generally being good not gonna lie. However, service was terrible. A fish bone was found in the sashimi, the server had no sorry and no compensate for that. Was terrible. Atmosphere is dark and music is soft, this is good.

At the recommendation of our concierge in Montreal, we had dinner at Hidden Fish Sushi. It was outstanding. This is an authentic Japanese restaurant (ie no "California rolls"). We started with the edamame with Togarashi & sesame oil. That was followed by the Tuna noodles (tuna, black cavier, sesame, yuzu kosho & ponzu sauce) which were amazing. We then opted for the "chef's choice" of nigiri and sashimi. They accommodated our desire to exclude a few items and delivered a fabulous selection. The service and attention from management was superb. For any sushi lover, Hidden Fish in Montreal would be a great choice of restaurant.

I have been wanting to try this place for such a long time, so finally we come here for a lovely date night. The restaurant is small but quaint and cozy. The decor is slightly unusual, especially the ceiling but it is absolutely very unique and beautiful. The service is 100 % excellent. Our servers were awesome, our water never gets empty from our glasses, always refilled. We ordered the sashimi platter, scallop homosaki and tuna tartare maki, the latter was the piece of resistance for us that we ordered again. Every sushi was fresh and so succulent. I see the hype of this restaurant, it is beyond amazing.

We stumbled upon this restaurant on our first trip to Montreal. The food was outstanding! The fish was fresh, and the presentation was beautiful. The sushi chefs were friendly and welcoming and accommodated our special requests. I'm shocked that this restaurant doesn't have a higher rating. I've eaten sushi all my life, and this was by far some of the best I've had!

Very good. Better than any fusion Japanese in NYC. The size of Makis are pretty big. And Sashimi is thick than NYC. I recommend the foie gras Nigiri and torched A5 wagyu sushi.

A5 wagyu tartare it would be nicer if they can give us a little spoon

I went to this restaurant on monday night at 7pm. The service was great but i have to wait 15 minute before the waiter asked us if we need some water and it has only 3 table total including us. Well it not worth it for the price we paid for the meal. Sashimi side was very good and fresh. Nigiri side was very bad because i expected something more beautiful or some awsome decoration on my plate for paying 120$. On the maki side well i don't suggest anyone to take maki with seewed paper because it very hard to chew. Well this place is over rated and over price for the food.

Even during peak summer season the restaurant was crowded and even had a line starting to form at peak lunch hour. There are not very many large tables so don't expect a large group to be sitting together. The menu is pretty straightforward with the typical miso, tonkotsu, and shoyu broths. But they even have a tomato broth with Hokato scallops for those more adventurous. We ordered the Tonkotsu Black $19 & the Tonkotsu+ $19. Is it pricey for Ramen? Yes. But was it worth it? Yes. The Tonkotsu Black had a rich broth with prominent garlic oil. The Tonkotsu+ was really the show stopper. With 3 different styles of meat: Smoked pork pastrami, meatballs & chashu. The truffle oil was fragrant and earthy. But the biggest surprise was shiitake mushrooms. They were marinated/seasoned to perfection, with a hint of sweetness. I would've been happy with just a giant bowl of shiitake mushrooms, and truffle oil. The broth was much lighter and delicate than the Tonkotsu Black, yet strong on the truffle. If you're not really a fan of truffle, do not get this. We were tempted to go back again, but we opted to try other restaurants around the downtown area. 10/10 Would go back again! Once seated, things happen very quickly...it is go, go, go (in the best possible way.) Green beans were everyone's fave, but I have to mention the (pickled?) vegetables on the salad. So flavourful! Also tried the egg drop soup which is so tasty. Mains were the salmon tuna bowl, the beef short ribs, the shrimp burger, and 48 hour pork with curry sauce. Everything was wonderful! Finished with their soft serve ice cream, I had the cherry blossom but one of us had the sake, which is a shot of sake poured on top. Amazing! You can even have wasabi or ginger... I placed a to go order for one of the daily specials, the grilled sea bass with sushi rice and salad, with some kimchi. I also ordered the BBQ chicken with tortilla and salad, as well as vegetable gyoza. Everything was incredible. Truly. The gyoza came topped with green onions and was SO crispy and hot and was perfect with their soy sauce. I thought sea bass was wonderful with a unique almost smoky flavor that melted in my mouth paired with the slightly sweet sticky rice. The barbecue chicken was great as well and better the next day. One thing I don't really understand is why they served plain flour tortillas cut into quarters with their food. We didn't utilize this, nor the white butter/mayo sauce that came alongside it. I hope to eat here often, for years to come and am so happy to see this iconic Japanese restaurant still thriving years later.
