Salmon Sashimi (6 pieces) fresh!
Aimee H.

Overall, a solid 4! We went on a Friday night and it was only about 1/3 full so no rezos needed! There's an Asian lady who takes the orders and seems to be doing most of the work. She was quick to respond to requests. We ordered: - 6 pieces of salmon sashimi--fresh tasting, large thinner cut slices. Arranged on a bed of spiraled radish (?) with grated ginger on the side and sweet soy sauce. - 8 pieces of Summer Dream--really really delicious!! The rice wrapper was just the right texture and all the ingredients (mango, avocado, salmon, cucumbers, fish roe) blended so well together with the sauce. It was so fresh tasting. Definitely recommend! - 5 pieces of Kamikaze--this was only "ok" because the tempura wasn't crispy. - 5 pieces of Spicy Deluxe--the pickled radish was soggy so it wasn't great so just another average plate. It's a very decent sushi place, with a decent ambiance. The experience will depend on what you order. I would go again! The terrace looks like it'll make a lovely dining spot.

This place is simply amazing! I came here for my birthday and was absolutely delighted with everything we ate. The fish was fresh, the rolls were generously large (our mouths were overflowing with food), and I slipped into a food coma right after. I highly recommend this place, it's great! Word of warning: you're going to want to order everything. While waiting for our food AND while eating our food, I couldn't stop ogling other people's orders. I feel like you can't go wrong here.

Great value for your dollar at Atami! While this wouldn't be considered a high end/fancy sushi restaurant , it is no frills but they deliver on freshness, price , service and location. The space is modern, comfortable and clean with lots of seating inside and out on the patio. The restaurant fills up fast at peak time but even when busy there's lots of space so it doesn't feel crowded. Service was very pleasant and on point/attentive. You wouldn't come here to experience anything exotic or outside the box in the way of creative sushi rolls, they are more about serving the more common varieties. BUT that being said everything we had was prepared with care and tasted very fresh. We had the spicy tuna, spicy salmon, Kamikaze, California , shrimp sushi and salmon sashimi. Perfect to satisfy a sushi craving ! I tried the Green Tea ice cream for dessert , it was nice and light/refreshing, and not too sweet. Their prices are more than fair and such a great value for what you pay for ! Definitely coming back here and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to others.

Small salad that comes with the combo. Looks a bit weird but the taste was awesome

Great place, the service was excellent. My friend had no appetizer with her meal, so to not let me eat mine alone, the house offered her a miso soup too! I found a great touch Let's talk about the food, I ordered the sushi (11 pieces) variety and the pizza sushi was to die for, made with kanikama. The variety was great, all specialities. My friend got a salad. She goes there since a while and I'm very happy to had discovered this amazing place! Its located on a second floor of the building, as I would not have gone straight up. Can't wait to go back!!!

This is the first sushi restaurant to open in the area! They've been running for 20 years and they are pretty consistent! The sushi chefs puts so much passion and apply themselves. They always make sure that everything is to the clients liking and of course, everything is fresh! They are one of the rare restaurants that offers butterfish. The prices are very reasonable and you have a decent portion. If it's your first experience, you should try the "chef's choice" for 35$ each. You tell the chef what you like to eat and he makes you 3-4 services depending on the portions! Def worth it. They also have wine list with decent price. On a hot sunny day, soak up the sun in their terrace with a nice cocktail or sangria. The service is good. They offer delivery service for an extra charge of 5$. You won't regret your experience at Atami.

This sushi place is amazing from food to the service. We traveled all the way from the U.S. our best friend took us here. We ordered all sorts of sushi and sashimi. The chef even custom made our sushi, the staff were so friendly. We came kinda late but the owner (Phong) were so sweet. He let us stayed and enjoys our dinner after the shop closed. He even spends time keeping us company and offered us free hot sake and wine. Omg.... he is super sweet! I'll definitely stop by when I travel to Montreal. I highly recommend this place.

It was really good the food, service was decent. Only thing that surprised me was, some people came in with a guitar trying to collect money for their country.. They came disturbing us AnD other customers like they owned the place. The staff had to tell them to get out.. It was really weird... But other than that the food, restaurant and service were great!

fresh and delicious

They took over and hour to deliver but the wait was worth it! I got Canadian rolls, spicy tuna, dynamite rolls and smoker salmon rolls. It was absolutely delicious. Two thumbs up Atami!

Fantastic sushi! Honestly worth the detour. The lobster sushi is off the charts as well as the smoked salmon. Great speedy service and quality ingredients at a decent price point! Worth it!

We showed up at 5:30 without a reservation and I wasn't sure we'd be able to snag a table. And honestly, if we had gotten there 15 minutes later, we probably would have had a long wait. So far, so good. We were seated at a table near the sushi bar and there was a vibration coming through the floor that was loud and a bit unpleasant. The prices were a little high which was a little off putting. But, we saw a couple of options - like a sushi boat - on their website ... but it turns out that is only for takeout, which is just weird. Service was slow and the wait staff disappeared at times. Normally, these things would have me deducting stars. But can I just say that the food was so darn good that I can overlook all of it. It was absolutely outstanding. Vegan sushi rich with umami. Rich with flavor. We didn't miss the fish.

I hosted a big bachelorette dinner…read morehere with 15 girls, Kyo was very easy to communicate with, and they offered multiple menu options at varying reasonable price points. I really appreciate the ease of booking and how I didn't have to think about what people were going to order. One hiccup was that I had indicated ahead of time that one of the guests had a seafood allergy, which I understand can be difficult for Japanese restaurant. I had expected them to tailor the $70 menu to her, however, they let us know that it was gonna be difficult and instead asked her to pick from the à la carte menu. She had no problem with this, but I felt bad and didn't want her to think that I had an indicated ahead of time of her dietary restriction. Overall, the meal was good. It was a little bit slow to start coming out. I think our total dining time was over two hours which was fine because we were celebrating something but for the first 30 minutes I feel like no food came out. A little bit on the salty side, but I enjoyed every dish. For the price point I think it was perfect. I would recommend this for a group dinner again. The high top tables weren't the most comfortable for such a large group as we were essentially split in two, but for a group of 6-8 it would be perfect!

We showed up on time for our reservation. The restaurant is dark, and sleek looking, so it could be a place for dinner or for drinks at the bar. We browsed the menu, and decided to go light and ended up trying the the following: - Edamame (with Furakake): Good. Soy beans can only be so different between restaurants. I will note that some of the soy beans we got were the biggest I've even seen. Furakake added needed flavour. - Avocado Truffle Tacos: OK. Quite tiny, but well made and tasted good. I didn't get any hint of truffle though. - Wagyu Dumplings: Good. But similar to any good quality non-wagyu dumpling I've had before. Overpriced. - Paradise Maki: Good. I like the texture of the tempura. - White Dragon Maki: Very good. I think the ponzu sauce elevates this dish another level. Service was pretty standard. Did all the tight things, and timely, but not particularly friendly. Overall, it was an OK visit. Food overall was generally good quality, but very expensive for the quality and quantity you get. But I also recognize that sometimes you pay for ambiance, and you certainly do here.

Located on the 45th floor, you can get beautiful panoramic views of the city, including of the St. Lawrence river. Highly recommend stopping by to watch the sunset transition into nighttime. Now onto their menu- I was expecting a bit more food options, but they really only have light bites/appetizers, so I'd eat elsewhere beforehand. I ordered the Wagyu brioche, which was incredible, but I wasn't as impressed with the crispy hosomaki, which was overly salty and didn't have that much dimension of flavor. The drinks were incredible and innovative though, incorporating authentic Japanese flavors and three eras of Japan's history. Tables are tightly situated and there's a cozy bar situation where I sat this time, able to watch the chefs cook right in front of me. The daily specials are posted on their Instagram page, as well as written on pieces of paper around the restaurant. My server quickly helped me to water and a glass of sake. I placed a to go order for one of the daily specials, the grilled sea bass with sushi rice and salad, with some kimchi. I also ordered the BBQ chicken with tortilla and salad, as well as vegetable gyoza. Everything was incredible. Truly. The gyoza came topped with green onions and was SO crispy and hot and was perfect with their soy sauce. I thought sea bass was wonderful with a unique almost smoky flavor that melted in my mouth paired with the slightly sweet sticky rice. The barbecue chicken was great as well and better the next day. One thing I don't really understand is why they served plain flour tortillas cut into quarters with their food. We didn't utilize this, nor the white butter/mayo sauce that came alongside it. I hope to eat here often, for years to come and am so happy to see this iconic Japanese restaurant still thriving years later.
