First time dining in at Nozy -- had takeout of the uni (sea urchin) don previously some years ago…read more(which was quite good). Came here with a friend, and we both ordered kaisen don and shared an okonomiyaki pancake appetizer and a hot sake. The okonomiyaki was delicious -- it had been sliced into pieces and then deep fried, which is a nice twist; topped with bonito and served with some kind of spicy mayo sauce. Kaisen don was excellent -- looks smallish but was quite filling in fact, thanks to the nice bed of subtly seasoned rice underneath the mini-mountain of various sashimi, which tasted fresh and was well-presented. There was also a piece of uni on it, which I enjoyed immensely. Sake was pretty good too, a warm alternative for winter. Service was attentive but not intrusive. Love the down-to-earth atmosphere of the place, it really feels like a neighbourhood favourite. We had come early-ish for our reservation, and by the time we left, the resto was full -- a good sign. Only gripe was that the paper menu was a couple of bucks more expensive than what is posted online on the resto's website -- and only for some items, not all of them. But given the issue of inflation recently, it's understandable that restaurants can also barely keep up with rising prices for ingredients too. Overall, a tasty experience -- both my friend and I plan to come back.

Hey everyone!! Yes!! We are seeing the light at the…read moretunnel!!! MTL slowly opens up and we can finally dine in at our local restaurant! Here's the one of the firsts that my wife and I decided to go back! Service wise, they have only one waiter in front and he has to go into the kitchen to help from times to times, so it's not too notch service but still enjoyable and hear me out. We are all coming out slowly from a pandemic over a year. We are lucky that some business survive. It will take times for everyone to recover, so give it times, I'm sure they will get better! Food wise This is not a typical Japanese restaurant. So you'll be surprised. I ordered beef sando (beef sandwich) its not the one that I was expected so I was a bit disappointed until I have my first bite... The beef is actually very soft and tasty. I do wish the buns were hot/toasted but hey its still good nonetheless. Then I ordered the chef 5 choices as my main course... Why? I just don't know what to order, the best is to order this set menu so I can try a little bit of everything Hehe. It packed with fried chicken, pita chips with egg plan dip, takoyaki, salade and sashimi rice bowl (aka poke bowl). Everything is good and fresh... Unfortunately the rice was a little too warm for my taste. Price is acceptable, mind you this restaurant is known to have fresh fish and seafood, so really you pay for what you get and you won't be disappointed as an overall experience. If you haven't been there before, go ahead and try! If you have been there before... Well I'm pretty sure you're reading this to plan your next meal, right? :) Enjoy!

This downtown Montreal restaurant is chic, lounge music piped through to complete their "chicness". They were busy that Friday, with most table and sushi bar seating filled. (Speaking of bars, I had a glass of white, and tried a tasty lycheetini.) The highlight of Sho-dan's arsenal is their assortment of specialty "concept" rolls which can be extreme in presentation, and atypical in taste, even to the most seasoned sushi ranger. My friends are Japanese restaurant enthusiasts and loved the quality of cuisine, from the tempura, to the slices of raw goodness, down to the perfectly matching sauces for each dish. Don't forget to get dessert sushi - the mango one is amazing. Dinner at Sho-dan blew my MIND. Be warned, prices are higher than average, but it's worth splurging for, just this once. (Credit cards accepted.)

Why can't we have sushi this good in Ottawa?…read more I almost NEVER go out for sushi in Ottawa because, like most of the Chinese food, it fucking sucks here. As someone who lived on the West Coast for 10 years, I cannot and WILL NOT give anyone 5 stars for their sushi unless it was just caught that day. Sho-Dan was VERY close to achieving the impossible - a 5 star sushi in landlocked Eastern Ontario. This place was fantastic service, high high quality fish, superb rolls, perfectly timed delivery to the bar where we sat.... Delicious cold sake and beer to accompany. I think the bill came out to $160 for the 2 of us (I didn't pay) but we left very full and content. Unfortunately, I cannot remember what we ordered (was a boozy night afterwards)....but 100% certain that I will recommend and be back.

Everything we tried on the menu was just perfect, tasted amazing and there is a lot of choices. Drinks aren't included, you pay for those extra. The other on the same floor as the bbq and is all you can eat sushi. We didn't try this one but while at the bbq, my girlfriend did order sushi (included in the bbq) and she really liked them. The difference is in the all you can eat sushi, there is more option then in the bbq. Food is serve on a convoyer belt delivered directly to you. Sometime, it come off a train on top of the conveyer belt, other stuff come from a big cat robot and some are waiter delivered. On the third floor is the newly opened Izakaya. I didn't see the menu but from what I understood, you can also get the same sushi plus many more offering. This floor is like a bar so 18+ only. The second floor is busy specially on week-end. You might be lucky to snatch a place without reservation but it took me all summer to get one without reservation. Reservation are available on the website and very easy to do and highly recommended. The izakaya is first come first serve. The price is normal for a bbq place. The ambiance is a mix of anime,. 3d CGI and such projected to walls. It's very nice. I'll come back for sure.

They asked if I wanted Bento or from the menu, and I wanted the menu items. I requested crab to be removed from the tayo ozisushi and they removed it with no hesitation. I also ordered the crunch salmon roll (don't remember the exact name) and the kind staff member ensured it didn't have crab in it. It was ready in less than 10 minutes, and a quick walk around the block made the wait just fly by. The total for both dishes came to $19, which is a bit on the pricier side I suppose but reasonable for dinner for sure. The sushi tasted quite good I have to say. Very fresh and flavourful. You can definitely tell when the salmon is high grade and this place does it right! I forgot to ask if they could torch the ozisushi, maybe next time. It still tasted good though! I was enticed by the high Yelp reviews, and happy to also provide one. I'll definitely visit again for takeout!

On February 21 at 6:00 p.m., we were four people at Torii Sushi in Laval to celebrate a birthday. The sushi and their presentation are at the forefront of Japanese cuisine. Everything was truly exquisite. For this evening, we spent close to $400, and from a culinary standpoint, the experience met expectations. Unfortunately, the service completely ruined the evening. The cavalier manner in which the assistant manager practically showed us the door is unacceptable. A serious lack of judgment and tact. We regularly visit restaurants in Montreal and Laval, and never -- I repeat, never -- have we been treated this way. Being rushed like that in front of our guests, during a birthday celebration, is frankly humiliating. We felt ashamed of the situation. At 6:00 p.m., we certainly did not expect to have to cut our evening short. The message was clear: "Eat, spend, and free the table quickly -- other customers are waiting." An establishment that positions itself as a high-end experience cannot afford such a lack of respect. Never again. Review based on our personal experience, honest and factual.
