Waited for someone to seat us, finally was told they were too busy and we would need a reservation. Looked up an available time, reserved a table for a bit later and went back for our reserved time to still be told they were too busy to take the reservation (which they had several times available) I would suggest fixing their online booking system or hiring more staff to properly run the facility. read more

This was the 1st and last time i go to this hole. We walked in as a party of 11 for a birthday party for my niece. The service was just so so. We were informed that we had a 2 hour window to eat and go. Luck we where not big eaters. When I looked at the menu (For the 1st time) I was in shock to find out that this buffet was priced at 48.99 per person plus taxes. Already though it was a bit for cooking my own food but told myself " give it a try ". We ate but I felt a little on the rush to eat because of the 2 hour limit but we got it. When came the bill , I was told that the tip (15%) was already included but if I wanted, I could add more?!?! 48.99 + tax(15%) = 56.33 + tip(15%) = 64.77 each. I payed for 4 people 259.10 WOW!!!!! Additional comment to the 15% gratuity added to the bill, not a beef with the restaurant: We were party of 5 celebrating my sister's birthday last Thursday with a 5:30pm reservation. Food and service was excellent with speed and courtesy remarks "Enjoy" and "Enjoy your meal" from the Kimpo team of servers. We enjoyed the table BBQ cooking experience and the meats, vegetables and sushi were delicious. Since it was a less demanding weekday Thursday evening, the 2-hour limit was more relaxed as we continued with our conversation well after our dessert. We asked a server for our bill and was directed to the front cash. I told the cashier I'd be paying for 5, then was presented with the bill and advised that 15% tip was already added. My brother-in-law later remarked that was it stated on the menu "15% SERVICE CHARGE APPLICABLE ON THE BILL FOR GROUPS 6 OR MORE." I've read other customers reviews complaining of this auto-generated tip understanding they too were less than a group of 6. I didn't mind since I had intended to tip $25 and the receipt showed $24.74 calculated on the food and beverages total ONLY. He then remarked that I was free to added extra, but I asked "Isn't the service charge shared by the whole restaurant service team?" He said "Yes, but in case you'd like to give your girl extra?" I thought what girl? We were served by whole team of guys and girls. The 15% added was close enough to my tip, so that was it and the total on my credit card receipt with taxes was $218.09. Though I didn't keep the restaurant receipt, I later calculated the breakdown $32.99/per x 5 = 164.95 x 15% = Tip $24.74. The shocker was balancing the total finding out I had paid TAXES $3.70 on the tip! Having a restaurant background, I'm firmly against the tips these payment machines generated with taxes in the equation and now paying GST&QST on the tip just blew me away! It might be small differences of amounts as some argues, but it adds up for many of us just wanting to enjoy eating out without getting dinged here and there like the groceries specials that were never applied at the cash when you finally check the bill at home and sometimes let it go because not worth going back for refund! My beef is not with the Restaurant Kimpo, but had I caught the ding for extra taxes on the spot, I would have requested the tip $24.74 deleted, add the taxes and I then custom enter $25 tip for total $214.65. Choosing the lesser of two ills, I'd rather the overage $3.44 go to the wait staff when these payment machines tipping percentages are always on the gross total... 15%*$189.65 ($28.18) for total $218.09. The tipping formula fault is lies with the terminal software developers who are either ignorant and/or have no realization of fairness to all the customers spending hard earned monies in restaurants as it was evident throughout the pandemic. GST & QST should never be in the equation for calculation of tips nor be taxed either! It is TAX! The servers pay tax on tips, not customers. Both GST 5% & QST 9.5% are independently calculated, so why not the tip %, eh?? Electronic transactions can easily ding a little negligible extra here and there. It must not be permitted and be always precise to expectations! To those software developers reading this, an appropriate software upgrade is immediately due on the payment machines multiplying the tip percentages on the food and beverages total before taxes! If one wishes to be generous (or less), you already have in the custom $$$ option. It's your due diligence to protect the consumers on tipping and paying accurately the dues for GST & QST! I hope other readers having the same opinion with the payment terminal tip formula, voice their displeasure on this platform. read more

I had just went here for the first time and last, went for a birthday party and everything was going fine. The waiters were a little too much in our faces with help, good on them but it is still to much when we have someone over our shoulders every 3 minutes. Food was good but they had told me at my table that "we hadn't ordered enough" confused as we were, we ordered a bit more ending up with way way way more than we thought. Now having to finish the meal they basically forced us to get, we had a timespan of 2 hours to wait for everything to cook and then eat it. The kicker of this whole night was the bill, they added up the bills per person at each table. Seems all fine but ended up paying 15% extra as tip without asking if we would like to add it?!?!? Thats not tip! Thats asking for more cash! Bunch of crooks! They added the 15% on to the bill before tax and we were forced to pay the extra! So we left very very upset for something we didn't even have a say in! Tip is normally a choice by the customer! Not the establishment! $219 down the drain! 1/5 stars, I would recommend going to another one in Montréal. Many more choices and with less crooks then this establishment. So food very good and service very good as well. Atmosphere fun and enjoyable. Orders came fast but we did get some wrong orders when it came to sushi. But what I didn't like I made a mistake on my tip.... and they were very vocal that I gave a poor tip. They demanded a 15% tip. They don't take debit so obviously they claim their credit card purchases but cash they pocket. I do not like the no option of debit and I do not like being told how much I must tip. Plus my friend she tipped on her bill and the girl was supposed to give her $3.25 but the girl kept the 3$ and only gave my friend her 25 cents back. So on a 57$ dollar bill the girls kept 13$ of my friends money so in reality she was over tipped . Absolutely delicious. We went for mother's day and everyone had a great time. Its korean bbq but their grills are much easier to be used than most other places. The quality and cut of the meats were all impressive. Sushis were baaaarely off portion on the quantity of rice. Dishes were served quickly and only 2 were missed that needed to be reordered. It is pricey, came to $45 after tax/tip per person but with the quality we saw and the fact that its BYOB I would definitely go back on one of their cheaper nights. I came here expecting absolute chaos after reading the reviews but I left this place quite pleased. Service was fast, friendly and efficient. It's truly a genuine experience and not your average restaurant. With that, I can understand some of the negative reviews as cooking and seasoning your own food can be intimidating and potentially dangerous. My teenage daughter and three friends went to Kimpo Brossard yesterday. The online menu from their webpage stated the price was 30.99$, but they charged her 38.99$. They said the online menu was old, and curiously, this was fixed today... On that same menu, they advertised that they would charge 15% tip for group of 6 or more, but they were only 4. Again, this notion was corrected today on their menu. So although the food was good, my daughter, friends, and families will NEVER go to this restaurant for disloyal practices. Absolutely horrendous. Go to Mon Ami instead. I went early on a Sunday after hearing good things. The restaurant is large and spacious, with booths lining the side on one wall and many rows of tables filling the rest of the space. I was escorted by the manager to a booth in the very back, despite there being many tables and other booths available. I asked kindly if I could sit at a table instead, as many were available and I am severely claustrophobic in booths. The manager denied me, claiming ALL the tables were reserved. I explained again that I am severely claustrophobic and surely there must be one of the at least 20 or 30 tables that is not reserved, but he would not change his mind. I explained how insensitive this policy was, and left, which seemed to make him all the more happy. STAY AWAY. There is plenty of other good Korean and Japanese. read more

I came here with my friends who are from Brossard on a Sunday night and what I understand is that this restaurant recently opened up. The place is newly renovated and it's quite spacious inside. The cuisine here is "Korean" BBQ and sushi restaurant and the format is an AYCE. Likes most Korean BBQ AYCE places they're not usually Korean, but rather Chinese establishments so the wait staff can totally take your order in Chinese, no problem. Also, it's better to make reservations as it can be busy in the evenings. The tables have a built in grill and a vent to exhaust the oil vapours but be forewarned, you will smell like wonderful grilled short ribs and meats by the end of your meal. It's unavoidable but totally worth washing all your clothes and showering after eating there. Hence, think twice before going there if you have to wear the same clothes to another event right after! The wait staff are quite helpful and they come by often enough to assist you in changing the parchment on the grill. (Speaking of which, they're not there to strike up conversations with you but give you what you need to a good meal. Some people would say the wait staff aren't friendly because of that, but they're by no means rude.) I've noticed this parchment grilling being the newer style used at these places as it reduces the need to change grill plates and for the kitchen staff to scrub the heck outta them. The down side to this is that it takes a bit more effort to get good grill lines. Grilling tip: If you want the vegetables you're grilling to taste good, grill the meats first (eg short ribs with the fat) so that adds oil to the parchment before placing the vegetables on the grill. Once the parchment turns black and smoky, it's time to change and use a new one! The portions are good and there's enough variety in the foods offered there as well. There's a difference in the weekday and weekend prices because they offer more variety during the weekend, like grilled seasoned lamb chops! Those were pretty amazing and they're pre-grilled for you to a medium rare, but you can always throw them on the grill for a meat more well done. The sushis and sashimi (weekend only) were quite well-made and with enough variety to complement your K-BBQ. Drinks are available to order but the plus is that it's a BYOW establishment. You can bring your favourite alcoholic beverages to pair with the sushi or grilled meats and nothing tops that because the SAQ is right next door! Back to the food, I would say there's enough variety to keep everyone happy and the table grills are quite within reach of everyone at the table. The meats were well marinated and don't need further seasoning but in case you do, they have a salt and pepper pot for you to add a touch of extra to it. Overall, since it's a new restaurant and they presented a rather good effort in decor, service and food choices I'll give them a 5 stars for that. It's bringing a bit more of the Greater Toronto Area Asian food culture over here as this has been very popular there for years. I've eaten at multiple Korean grill houses and this is up to par with them, keeping in mind that it's an AYCE/buffet so it's not a fine dining experience. read more

Never returning there again for several reasons and I do not recommend this place to anyone. First, we waited for our food for so long..and then the staff mixed up our table with another one. After their mistake, they told us that the kitchen was closing soon, so we didn't really have time to eat. Also, a lot of things in the menu was not available and to finish, there was no more dessert at the end (only vanilla ice cream)... 30$ per person for literally nothing.. the food's quality was really not good. I had been anticipating going to this restaurant for a while (I had noticed it before the official opening), I peeked inside from the window, it looked appealing and 'modern'... So today I decided to go, as I arrived the waitress had wiped her nose with her hand, she assigned our seat, the tables all had streaks of grease, the stainless steel above the grill wasn't clean, the bathroom soap dispenser in the woman's washroom was broken.... at this sight we decided to leave. Kimpo automatically charges us 15% service see, we can definitely accept it as we have 6 people and we usually pay 15% of service fee. However, they charge taxes on the services fee. This is very disgusting!!!! read more
