    hotpot

I went for the first time the today and had a wonderful experience. Our server, Kevin was super helpful in understanding how to order and the procedures of all you can eat. The food was great, lots of options and the broth was very customizable with the right sauce ingredients. Even with the steep price, you're not just paying for the good food, but the whole production of it all. Would totally recommend!! I went with my dad and sister and they only had positive things to say too(Kevin if you see this my dad thought you were very cool).

Out of all the hotpot experiences I would definitely rank this towards the top! Their sauce bar is above the rest with ingredients not found at other spots like fried peanuts, etc. You also order off a tablet which is very nice to be able to take your time to browse the menu options and send your order to the kitchen without feeling like you're bothering the wait staff. They offer set combos, along with à la carte, and also AYCE add on packages so you can really customize your experience if you want to maximize your meal or pick and choose what you want. We got the combo for two which came with plenty of food and a little bit of everything which really made us feel like we were getting our money's worth. To help keep your shirt looking pristine you're given a cloth apron as well as a lens wipe and moist towelette to clean off. At the end they offer ice cream to wrap up your experience.

This was probably the best meal I had in Montreal. This hot pot restaurant is one of the most fancy (as well as most pricey) hot pot restaurant I had ever been to. Everything was top notch even the fancy bathroom and the little things they think about. At the table, there are racks that you can place your food on so that your table is not over crowded. They have special performance on the handpull noodle. There is an ipad at each table for you to order food. The staff was very attentive. There is a sauce bar that has variety of different sauces and some desert options. You can order 2 different types of broth or 4 and the price is the same. As mentioned, this is already expensive to start out. The price for the broth alone is the most expensive I have ever seen in hot pot restaurants. It tastes good though

8/24/2024 No, I did not come all the way here to Montréal just to have hot pot. I have never had Haidilao, even if it's just a stones away or 1 hour drive from my hometown. Location: downtown Montreal is a vast area lined with public green spaces, cafes, eateries, and an endless array of shopping! My hotel was situated a short 3 block walk, and so I decided to have dinner here. Upon Entering: reservations are recommended but walk-ins are also welcome. A friendly host said that since I'm without a reservation, the best offering would be a table for 1.5 hours. I happily accepted as I would be in and out within a flash. I was sent upstairs to the 3rd floor and on my way to food coma. Service: a friendly server welcomed me at my booth for 1, and went over instructions and the location of the condiment station. I was given an apron for accidental splashes, and informed that the booth has hidden compartments for personal belongings. The Food: everything is ordered on an iPad. I was a bit surprised that the broths are not inclusive of the meal, and each were above $10. But then again, none of the meats or vegetables are all you can eat. I ordered 4 broths, 4 meat plates, 3 vegetable plates, and 1 seafood tofu dish. I also ordered a sweetened herbal tea to pair with my meal. It didn't feel overwhelming, but I was certainly getting full. The taste: I really did enjoy the food here. Not only were the broths decadent, and the dishes fresh, the service was excellent. Final Thoughts: I didn't quite finish everything that I had ordered (one of the pork dishes was quite tough and chewy). In lieu of what I could not finish, a 20% discount was provided and to that I was much appreciative of. Fruit flavored mints are provided at the end of service in case one has garlic or other breathes present. Definitely come here for a delicious and relaxed hot pot experience.

Neat hotpot that allows for 4 soup bases. Definitely come for the special -- the meat for $3 is super worth it! Couldn't find the drink deal on their ipad menu though. The meat took LONG to come out and our waitress knew about it and tried to get it faster. Other than that she went above and beyond -- way too helpful for a largely self-serviceable place. As usual, good hospitality -- from the wait area, to the bathroom, to the table where you have a bib and wipes and leave with mints and toothpicks.

Had a great experience at this Haidilao, the staff was very nice and the space was very clean! I got the weekday special combo which comes with meat, vegetable platter (also had some other stuff like fish cake with mochi filling that was so good!) , a soda, and a broth of your choice for around $23. It was a good portion of food and I was quite full after. Would definitely come back!

I love their customer service and attentive friendly staff. As I went alone, they even put a giant plush doll at my table to keep me company. Solo dining has never been this fun! Although I didn't obtain the freebies I wanted, I would return just to eat with the plush doll. :D

in montreal for a few days and my lovely bride thought this would be good eats kinda close after arriving kinda late to the hotel. probably would have been delightful except that this was my first time at a hot pottery and it runs out I am not a fan of the concept... maybe because it was in Canadian and our dining experience crossed three languages (chinese, french, and english) with the best of intentions but mixed results and no rice... so we kind of fumbled through requesting three bases (order soups ahead so it could come to a boil) and some stuff to put in there including some thin sliced and rolled meats, some substantial greens, and some noodley stuff that we have to add and watch and retrieve and plate and try not to make a huge mess of it all and I don't get a quart of white rice with it? everyone else in the place (including my dinner (life!) companion) appeared to have a handle on the process and were enjoying themselves and I can't complain about anything except my basic non-understanding of what's going on here and a specific pepper in the spicy base that disagrees (...and no rice) with me but I doubt they meant to annoy me and besides the sukiyaki base was way more agreeable anyway... so if you like this sort of thing and don't mind paying/getting a little extra you'll probably like this place. I'll likely have another go at this in english-and-chinese but I'm not really optimistic about the outcome even if I get a giant bowl of the calrose I grew up with.

AYCE hot pot in downtown Montreal. It's just a few minutes walk from the Lucille L'Allier station…read more People seem to be confused with the pricing. You have to pay the AYCE price per person + price for the soup base. So for two adults on weekday dinner, it was $33.95pp + $18.95 for half & half (2-flavor) broth. All you can drink (AYCD) option is an additional $3.95. This is in their menu, which is extensive and very very long. They should really print it out for each table rather than having it online. You have to scan the QR code at the table to access the menu. For making customers scan a QR code to access the menu, they should offer free WiFi. Veggies and meats are ordered through your server. There were a couple items I asked for but never came. Quality of meat in general was good. The tofu I got might have turned sour. I liked that they had lotus root, tofu skin, quail egg, and Napa cabbage. I also learned what is "chest deckle" because I was caught by surprise when the dish came out. There is a cat robot that delivers the dishes to your table! Other hot foods and desserts are self-served next to the sauce bar. The menu also lists how to make some popular sauces. Service is ok. You have to pay at the cashier in the back corner. I was here after 20:00 on a weeknight, and there was no wait. They had a promotion going on if the weather is greater than 28°C. You get a carafe of juice for the table as well as coupons for a free soup base for next visit (expires end of the month). Credit card/apple pay accepted No WiFi Bathroom available

My favourites from our visit: HUGE Appetizer and Dessert Bar compared to other hot pot places - you won't ever get tired of waiting for your food to cook! I tried the chicken wings and it was so good! Garlic marinaded beef - soo tender and underrated! I like it better than the sliced beef you can order from your server. They are still figuring a few things out. For instance the vestiaire is not available for customers just yet (only staff), but it might be in the future (which would be amazing to avoid coats smelling like hot pot for the next 3 days). The place it not that big, but they managed to arrange quite a few tables in there. And it's already popular! It was pretty much full on both nights I was there. There are large and small pots. Large pots are shared between diners of a given table, as it is usually the case in China. Small pots (individual pots) give more freedom as to which base soup you want, although large pots allow a maximum of 3 different soups! The induction cookers were powerful, and the simple electronic pads at each table enabled to easily control boiling. There's quite a few base soups available. So far I tried the "traditional spicy soupe", "health mushroom soupe", "original bone soupe" and "nourishing health chicken soupe" (the English names might be a bit puzzling, but they were all tasty). The heat level of the spicy soup was also quite satisfying for us Sichuanese. It is all you can eat, at about 25$ per person. The base soup costs extra, and so do drinks and some select items (e.g. duck blood, beef tongue, etc.). The choice of food items if not the most diverse, but covers most essentials. The main attraction remains meat, in this case AA+ beef and lamb. The mashed shrimp (pureed shrimp that boils into a shimp meatball) was also very popular. Soups and food came fairly fast, and was very nicely displayed. Some items were forgotten on both of my visits, but it didn't affect the overall experience. There's two self-serve stations, one for ready to eats (spring rolls, fried fish (?), oranges, fried buns, etc.) and one for sauces. The sauce station had everything I needed, but was quite messy and in need of replenishing. I also wished the oil would be sesame oil instead of vegetable (?) oil. Ladles and strainers can be found on the shelf under the sauce station. Overall, the taste was excellent, and there was a lot of efforts and good attitude from the staff. The place was still a bit messy and chaotic, and the air was a bit stuffy, given all the steam that is produced. But then again, it's arguably part of an old school hot pot experience!

There are SO many things that don't even have a common term in English, which is impressive! Unfortunately, they don't pay enough attention to washing their veggies, and we got some veggies covered with little bug eggs. Their handmade fish pastes and balls were delicious though.
