The Long Version: I love hand pulled noodles, so my husband and I had lunch here. He's not a fan of noodle soups but agreed to come and just have appetizers, lol. I got the small-sized Spicy Mushrooms and Chicken Noodle Soup ($13.99). I chose the #6 size noodles which is the thickest noodles they offer. My husband got the imperial rolls ($4.50 for 3) and the fried shrimp wontons ($11.99 for 10). I really enjoyed my soup, especially the thick noodles. They were chewy and the right amount of softness. There were chicken pieces in it, mushrooms and a delicious "tofu sausage." It also had 2 pieces of baby Bok Choy and some pieces of kelp. I wished there was more vegetables. The soup also had green onions and cilantro. The broth was a tiny bit spicy from the chili oil. I am happy that this soup does not have sesame seeds in it, so I didn't have to ask them to hold the sesame seeds. Lol. My only complaint would be that the broth was a bit too salty and too oily for my tastes. I still thought it was good though. My husband enjoyed his appetizers. The imperial rolls were vegetarian. I didn't have any, but they looked like nothing special to me, haha. However, the hubby liked them which is what matters. The fried shrimp wontons looked good and he liked those too. Service was pleasant and efficient. The decor is casual with some fun touches. I liked the rotating lanterns with lights on the ceiling and the drawings of a big squid and clams on the walls. I would return to try their other noodle soups and also their handmade dumplings. Review #10 (2026)

I just wasn't too sure about the noodles. We did see some plates come out and the noodles looked good, but they didn't look fantastic so I definitely wanna go back and actually just tried the noodles, but I always get tempted with the dumplings LMFAO

Being a big steam rice roll fan living in New York, I looked up a spot to introduce my European…read morefriend to them when meeting up in Montreal and discovered Yin Ji Chang Fen. What I didn't know at the time is: (1) they also have NYC locations, including their U.S. flagship 1/2 block from Tonii's, one of my favorite Chinatown cheap eats and (2) Yin Ji Chang Fen's chains origin is in Guangzhou in 1958... and that location still exists! So, it was a must try! Glad we stopped by and would recommend it for a try, especially if you are looking for a convenient bite while on Ste. Catherine Oeste. (Note - Did not get the chance to check out other steamed rice roll places in Montreal, but will definitely do on my next trip.) About the restaurant experience... while they have printed menus, you use the QR code on the table to order, although there was a helpful waiter to assist. We ordered a fresh Shrimp with Chives and a Roasted Duck with Chives Steamed Rice Roll. Peanut sauce needed to be ordered as an extra. They provide complementary hot tea. (You can also order a can of Chinese iced tea.) Yin Ji Chang Fen's rolls were delicious, especially the roast duck! The sauces added make the rolls even more vibrant. Note - Didn't get the chance to check out other Montreal steamed rice roll places, but will definitely do on my next trip. Also at one point back home, will also check out their N.Y. Chinatown location to compare. To add, Congee appears to be another Yan Ji specialty, however it's not something I typically order.

We love a good dimsum and esp cheongfuns but this is AMAZING! Come here for the great selection! Even the desserts were on point and also the drinks!! This was a pretty large and clean restaurant located in a large plaza with plenty of parking. They had lots of tables and also a pretty robust takeout service. It was very family friendly and they accommodated our large group with attentive service. They had lots of good options on the menu and the pho dac biet was pretty decent.

Bun Bo Hue - 10/10 Super flavorful broth and a perfect super mild spicy! I personally don't like all the pork feet and bones in my noodle soup but authentically I think it should come with it and other people prefer it. But I liked that it only came with the regular viet ham and beef bc I don't like the other things. #44 Pork Chop Rice Plate - 10/10 It may look small on camera but this portion was HUGE. Lots of rice! But the pork chop was decent regular size. Pork chop was perfectly marinated and I love the glaze that comes with it. Cooked perfectly as well not too dry and not tough. Also the fried egg was perfect! A little soft fried sunny side egg yolk! Overall I loved all elements of this place and I had so much rice left over but I was FULL for the whole day. Banh Xeo - 10/10 HUGE portion as well! It's super stuffed with lots of filling and the crepe was cooked soft and crispy! I like this style of appetizer because it's super hands on and you get to wrap it like a little roll. Super fun and yummy appetizer! ALSO pleaseee try the sugar cane drink! It's so refreshing and it's real authentic sugar cane and it literally soothes your soul. The ambience was super welcoming and the restaurant was super big and spacious. Overall, I liked every single dish and everything was super flavorful and made me feel good eating it! Best bun Bo hue I had!
