Big BBQ plate

#500th review !! I felt like Chinese BBQ and upon entering, I found limited seating (about 10 tables or so). Many Asians came to pick up orders or hang around and eat their lunches on-site during my stay. This was a good sign for things to come. The BBQ is family owned and deserves to be tried at least once! The food however may not be for everyone as some cuts aren't very common. They do have other options but you'll generally only find things you'll only find in authentic Chinese markets. We ordered a meat platter with a friend which consisted of various cuts of duck and pork. While we waited, we were given some delicious warm tea. The food was prepared quickly and well presented in a platter. The place is very clean. The service was VERY helpful and accommodating. Our waiter (owner?) came up to us and explained everything. As two guys (one half Italian/Spanish and the other half Haitian/Jamaican) who were eating their first true Chinese BBQ... it was well appreciated. Overall, I enjoyed the meal and really enjoyed the pork. The duck however... I realized isn't for me. Maybe it's the texture or flavor... or simply perhaps I can't help myself from feeling I'm chewing on Donald Duck's carcass.... I didn't end up liking it. Price-tag is very good. Will come again.

Noticed this little BBQ and snack house as I was picking up some take-away from Tong Por next door. Entering in they have a little restaurant with some dim sum items plus BBQ Chinese meats. I picked up a piece of some BBQ pork (char siu). A smaller piece was $10. Not bad! Also they had whole BBQ duck and other items. BBQ pork was very nice and tender and melted in my mouth. I asked for a less fatty piece and mine provided was on the upper limits of my comfort levels. I asked how long they've been open and the owner mentioned a few months. I'll come back to test out the Dim sum another visit!

Actually this place was not bad. I was expecting the worst. Portion was so big as you can see by the photo. Vietnamese noodles were also good esp. the soup. But I was here for the BBQ pork which was also excellent.

Duck on rice. Also try the crispy pork, chicken and sweet bbq pork (pronounced chasew). The dish includes a hot soup.

Where to begin. This establishment is all around AMAZING!!! All the staff are friendly, outgoing,…read moreattentive, and really know their craft. I thought I had pre-booked a reservation, and we were running late. Parking in this area can be a trick. I dropped my wife off and continued to locate parking. She contacted me and said there was no reservation. I panicked as I parked my truck and sifted through my emails for a confirmation. I hustled the 0.4 miles back to her. When I went in the hostess said it wouldn't be a problem and brought us to a table. My wife later told me she was offered tea while she waited. The waiter was on spot. He knew their menu and provided us with his insights. All the food was Devine. Beautifully laid out and brought out each course in the perfect time. My wife loved the hibachi, she doesn't eat much in general and I do most of the cooking at home. She couldn't get enough of putting items in the hibachi and moving them around. Guess I need a hibachi at home lol. Also my wife is 86 pounds, so she gets cold easy. The hibachi was the perfect personal heater too!! We had a great time together. The ambiance had that perfect Japanese appeal, while still modern. I used to live in Japan so I can be skeptical when it comes to Japanese flair & food. This establishment did not disappoint. So if you are in Montreal, I highly recommend giving this place a go. Side note, pricing is very reasonable considering what is included in packages. And the Saki I had was delicious and looking it up for the going rate they make around $5 per bottle based on what they sell it for and market retail price (place around the corner up charges 110%). So you are more than getting what you pay for in my opinion. And sometimes you just cannot put a price on excellent service! We will definitely be returning when we venture. To Montreal again.

The quality is definitely there! Cuts are rarely chewy and the marinades are flavourful. The…read moreappetizers are of much lower quality though. The spring rolls taste like the frozen veggie ones from Asian supermarkets. The salad and rice were also nothing special. However, the for value it's not bad. We got the premium set for 2, which was $120 (tax & tip included). For anyone that's not a big eater, it's a good alternative to gyubee. Service was very attentive although the kitchen was quite slow. Our appetizers came 1 hour after our meats arrived, which was a bit strange. Ambiance is a bit cold since the tables are so close to the doors, so we constantly felt a gust of cold air during our visit.

A cool vibe if you like country and short shorts and line dancing…read more Super cool spot we got drinks and watched the girls dance around it was chill. Did not eat anything but I will be back to try some bbq.

I'm a die hard fan of Jack flat bbq since it's opening. But with the new menu, many thing change…read more The first thing you'll notice in that new menu is the daily special? Gone. . No more wonderful steak Philly on the Friday. Most of what was offered on that daily menu is permanently gone. They added many different poutine that actually existed before but part of a secret menu you could learn from their social network page. Some starter too. They change the recipe of some of the food. The Mac N cheese is now more creamier and the cheese is more present and flavourful. I never had it by itself, but in the poutine Mac TeX, it's a miss for me. It used to be the poutine I always take when I go there, poutine Mac TeX. Tried it 4 times already since the switch, always the same and I don't like it unfortunately. Maybe others don't. From the post they made on Instagram stating that it was now creamier due to popular demand, I guess that's how people like it. But I think people was taking it by itself and not into a poutine (I never see much people eating a mac te when I'm there). Also the new Mac N cheese on the Mac TeX make it you taste nothing except the creamy liquid cheese from the Mac N cheese, nothing else. I normally add the homemade steak sauce available on the table in the poutine and when I tried it with the new recipe, it wasn't good. I also trie the dirty Poutine. I totally forgot what it is. There's like 2 sauce, I think it's meat sauce? Sorry I really forget. It was good, but about half way through, I was done with the taste just like the current Mac TeX. I still finished it though. Again, it's not bad, everyone has different taste and I started by liking it. I had the same experience when eating the smashburger poutine after eating a smash burger. Don't do it, take either one, not both unless your really into the taste of smashburger cause that's the only thing you taste. Last time I went, I took again the smashburger double cheese and bacon, a must for me, and I took a regular poutine. First time in what, 2 years and at least 30 visit that I take the regular one. It was good. I do miss my og Mac TeX but it's a good replacement. The bonus is it cost about 10$ less and fill less, so I was able to take something off the desert menu for the first time. I toon the chocolate cake and it was very good. The service is always good when I go there. It might be a bit a miss when it's overbooked specially if your table is hidden In a corner (happened a bit in the past). The only reason I bring from 5 to 4 stars is only because I prefered the old menu and old recipe. I did talk to a staff last time about the Mac TeX recipe and was told sometime it's because of new chef. I guess he wasn't aware that the recipe actually change, he did seemed new since I hadn't seen him before. I'll talk to jack or one of the owner last time, not to bad mouth, simply to have feedback from customer on the menu.
