    Rice Punch... need to try
    Jerry W.

First night at Montreal... had a hankering for fried chicken. OMG... hands down... one of the best fried chicken I have had in a very long time. Skin is crispy and the inside was really juicy... for both the sweet n spicy and the house. The spicy was just mildly spicy. More like a sweet chili sauce. 2 clean unisex bathrooms towards the rear of restaurant. Plenty of parking st the public lot.

Legit Korean food. Great service. Montreal is lucky to have hardworking Korean people bringing great food and culture to the area!

Oh boy avoid at all cost! I can't believe I'm even giving this place a one star but that's the minimum I can actually give when I'm writing a review how disastrous. I think their fame and trend went to their heads their prices are absurd and they gave us such a hard time we actually left and close the menu book down and but all I can say is their service was so horrible i just walked out. when you're trying to order they're giving you a hard time took forever to get our order in and all they cared about was jacking the price higher as they could and we wanted to order the bulgogi beef for one however they force you to buy 2 because we were two people what ...are you serious if my husband doesn't want to eat the dish I have to buy two and eat one out of it and that wasn't the worst part. The worst: The lady had the audacity to say well keep it in your fridge for the next day.. what no I don't keep things in my fridge for leftovers I rather eat it fresh. The menu says there's a price for one person but we could've only ordered for two how terrible is that big Scam! The place itself is tiny crowded and so uncomfortable but yet they're charging prices as if you're going to a high-end rib n reef steakhouse like really you're No High dinning resto and you charge that much when your food is not even elevated ... 36$ for beef dish wow .. big scam. This place left such a A bad taste in my mouth and I'm glad I just threw the menu and left I will never be back horrible service it's a shame and I don't recommend you spending your dime here I understand people are raving the food but the way you treat people is also very important for your business to succeed and if that's how you're going to treat people like we're just some kind of dollar sign then no thank you I'm out. They also started to laugh at us for complaining about the prices laughing that we were cheap.. as if we were not important and not good enough to order from them wow really .. Never again unfortunately!

We ordered a meal via Ubereats from this place since we heard great things about their fried chicken. It did not disappoint! Crispy, sweet sauce and moist chicken. I wish it was a bit spicier though. The pork bone soup was also very good. They gave a generous portion with 3 big pieces of bone and the flavors were excellent. Easy to reheat and ready to eat in minutes! When you order, you also get rice and kimchi with it. I highly recommend this place for takeout and will go to their restaurants to try afyer the pandemic!

This is where I probably had the best fried chicken in my life. Hand down 5 stars without looking at anything else on the menu, price or service. Koreans do their fried chicken right and this food is authentic. An art. We went with both FRIED CHICKEN varieties in half portions and they were both excellent but we both preferred the soy and garlic fried chicken by far. OMG. I'm drooling just remembering this.... We tried their bibimbap & gyozas and they were fine. I think next time we're going to go with the full carnivore experience and I'll bring my cuz a bib cause this succulent, ambrosial, heavenly fried chicken will explode with greasy flavor. Why are you still reading? Order the food, bookmark the place, get in a car and git here!

At the suggestion of fellow yelpers Jason and D'arcy, they brought me here to this amazing KFC (Korean Fried Chicken). The menu is small, the restaurant feels like the only non-chain place in this strip mall but it's bustling with many locals who seem to know what they want. If you wanna know how good the fried chicken is here, try some of the soy & garlic here. It's about $26 for 8 pieces and worth every penny. That's it, please do that and have a blast licking your fingers and craving more. It really blows everything else out of the water, including the Gwang Yang Porc Bulgogi ($17), which came with a bunch of sides. It was good but I can guarantee i would not choose again compared to the other stuff. Even the sweet and spicy fried chicken, while solid, needs a bit more of a spicy kick so stick to the soy & garlic. The service is nice and the decor is clean but it's a no frills kind of place which i just love.

I've been looking for a good Korean option in the west island and have never found one that was good enough. Matjip is the closest I got to having all that I want. It has fried chicken which is really good, stews that are quite hot and different options of entrees. This is a family run restaurant, which is usually the best type of restaurant. One thing about the chicken. I took 2 sauce on the side, now k owing what the quantity was like. 1 sauce would have been enough for the half-chicken portion. Only disappointment is the takoyaki. It was nice to be able to eat some but the taste was not that great. It was too dense, not fluffy enough. That being said, I would go back. I would simply not take the takoyaki

How many times have I walked by this place and never really knew what they serve. Finally - I was near by and thought of Matjip amd what it could be they actually serve in that place When i went here on yelp I saw reviews of their Fried chicken calling it the best in town. OH MAN! THAT CHICKEN WAS AWESOME Get the soya garlic. To die for. Also i gotta go back and try bibimbap because ive never tried it

Matjip was incredible! Great Korean restaurant in the West! The decor is simple but the food is amazing. We ordered the Bulgogi meal for one. It was 18.99$ and came with miso soup, kimchi, onions, radish slices, fried dumplings and lettuce. The portion was pretty big! The sweet & spicy fried chicken... was exceptional! I believe it might even be the best korean fried chicken in Montreal! We ordered the half portion. It was tender on the inside and flaky on the outside. If you want a little more spice, you can ask them for "Gochujang". ( we tried to ask for hot sauce, the waitress didn't understand) We were 2 people and we were quite full afterwards! If you are in the area of West Island, I would recommend you to try Matjip!

Decided to check out this place after driving past the strip mall, which has seen new and interesting places to eat. Me and my friend wanted to check it out since we looked up the place, and found that they had a section just for Korean Fried Chicken - which we were a huge fan of. After walking in, we were greeted by a lady who was so kind and made sure we knew what to order and try. We ordered the Soy Garlic Chicken which was really juicy and crispy. Highly recommend this place, the service was super fast and the people there were very nice. My only complaint was that they didn't offer much options for sides to have with the chicken, but seeing as this place hasn't been opened for too long I'll be coming back.

Tasty fried chicken and tofu seafood sunduboo soup! Pickup was on time too! Added a soy garlic sauce on the side for dipping.

Quickly Matjip has become one of my fave restaurants. Let me preface this review for the readers. I've been fortunate to visit Seoul a handful of times. Also I've eaten some great Korean food in LA and Vegas. Matjip fried chicken (specifically the soy garlic) is the best I can say I've had so far in my 40+ year old life. The rest of the menu is fairly simple. Each time I've dined here there are many Korean families enjoying a meal during my visits. It's that good that I wanted to keep this place a secret. However it would be selfish of me and I'd be happy if they become super successful because their fried chicken is the bomb. I'm not even that crazy about fried chicken anywhere else. But I'll go out on a limb to say it's the best fried chicken in the MTL area! Prove me wrong! Go eat it! It's delish! If they could improve their banchan offering I'd be in heaven.

We have been to Matjip a few times but our last visit was disappointing (pick up). The spicy fried chicken was not spicy like before. The rice sticks were supposed to be in these rich red spicy sauce but it was doused in the same sweet chili sauce they used for the chicken which was not what we expected. When I called to place our order and inquired about the Korean ramen, the lady who took our order said it came with an egg- I actually asked if the noodles were fresh and she didn't seem to understand my question and offered this answer instead. When we brought our food home, I was sorely disappointed that Korean ramen = instant noodles. I would still go back there for the soy and g epic fried chicken but don't think I will bother ordering anything

We came in without a reservation and they made us feel welcome! We got checked in and vetted with all the covid rules (vax pass and sanitizer first) and got seated right away. Our waitress was very attentive and very sweet. She showed us how to order online with our phones. Very interesting system ! I loved how the food is brought to us by a baby elevator .. I guess the kitchen is in a different level! Food: They brought out some starters that tasted delicious I was so impressed with the cucumber starter dish so yummy with a kick to it. We got kimchi , marinated onions and then the Chop suey was delish too ! Every dish had awesome flavours. We went ahead and ordered different meats and shrimp. My all time favourite was the ox tongue soo good The grill was getting dirty as we were cooking so much on it she changed it for us that was nice as well. There's a lot of variety to choose from and it is all you can eat so you may order as much as you want but if you leave anything on the plate they charge you 1$ extra so be careful when you order too much hihi. Overall service ambiance and food was AMAZING and worth every penny! Definitely recommend this place if you've never tried an ayce Korean bbq resto! Cheers!

There is ample parking as they have there own parking lot and there is also a bus stop a few meters down the street. The restaurant is a small quite place and has about 15 tables insides. The menu is down all online as well as the ordering process. The staff was friendly and was able to explain everything properly. We stated off with some vegetable that we grilled. The vegetables were raw and unseasoned. We had the following vegetables. Onions and zucchini and mushrooms. We grilled them and we had to dip them in the sauces to add flavor. For the meats. Short ribs were extremely fatty and chewy and the seasoning was bland. Short ribs on no bone Was very fatty and chewy and the way it was cut was like it was cut by hand not even made it hard to grill. Ox tongue Had same seasoning as the short ribs. Not much flavor in the sauce. It was ok nothing special. Pork belly Was cut so small made it hard to grill properly. No seasoning on the pork belly. Pineapple Was fresh and not canned and we grilled it as well. It's a nice place but with a few improvements it can be a winner.

The Long Version: I love mochi. Like it's one of my favourite desserts. So when I saw that Fondue Haidilao had an UberEats deal for BOGO (buy one get one free) mochi, I had to check it out. Especially since our hotel was just around the corner. My husband does not enjoy hotpot and I'm uncertain how I feel about takeout hotpot anyway, so I just got the mochi, lol. It was $3.95 for 2 orders (since it was BOGO). Each order contains 3 pieces, so I got 6 pieces. They are small but still very reasonable for the price, especially BOGO. I ordered on the app and picked up. Pick-up was quick and smooth. Staff were courteous. The mochi were soft and chewy. They had finely grated coconut on the outside and custard on the inside. The custard was unfortunately not creamy but rather it had a more starchy consistency, a bit different from what I was expecting, but it was still ok. Note that since Haidilao is a Chinese chain, the mochi is Chinese-style not Japanese-style. I would love to try the hotpot at Haidilao one day. Maybe when my mom and I return for another mother-daughter trip to Montreal since the hubster does not like hotpot. Street parking only. Review #69 (2025)
