I really enjoy the variety of dishes at Mei Wei. Other dumpling places we enjoy don't have a lot of side dish or alternative dish options like Mei Wei does. We have their wonton soup, which you could tell was homemade and fresh, the hot and sour soup, which my partner said wasn't exceptionally flavourful at first, but after eating more, it grew on him and he would absolutely order it again. We had the spring rolls, they were fresh and delicious, exactly what you'd hope for. We tried their fried wontons with peanut sauce, and those were really good. For dumplings, we ordered the lamb and coriander, which were nice, but maybe not enough coriander flavour, the beef and onion, and they hit the spot, and the chicken and curry, which were my favourite of what we had. To finish, we had their sesame balls, and those did not disappoint! I would come back just for them, so good! You could tell that everything was made fresh, with quality ingredients. Came for lunch and tried the steamed spinach, vermicelli and egg dumpling, chicken and mushroom, beef and onion, coriander lamb, lamb and cumin and pan fried pork and chive dumplings. We enjoyed them all but the cumin lamb was the best. I would eat them all again and recommend it both for the price and quality. One of the yummiest spots for dumplings! Dumplings are always made fresh. You can choose between steamed or fried ($1.50 more). The hot and sour soup was also super tasty. The perfect amount of sour and spicy. Service is quick and friendly. You can be in and out in about 30-45 minutes if you're dining in. 1 star removed for ambiance. No doubt my favourite restaurant for comfort food. I've been coming here for 2-3 years almost monthly and it's never gotten old. The owners are sweethearts and the ambiance is just so homey and warm. Always wanted to try this dumplings place! At the moment it's takeout only but they have outdoor seatings. Preparation takes about 10-15 minutes. I got the lamb abs coriander fried and my friend the pork and scallops steamed. I think they're a bit chewy when fried so I'd go for the steamed next time. I've been eating here since it opened. I order the same dishes each time: shrimp tempura with katsu sauce, shrimp wonton soup and pickled cucumbers. They sent me the wrong sauce (plum sauce) and when I called to complain, he told me I was WRONG and they don't serve it with Katsu sauce, even though it's clearly listed on the menu (and I've been eating here since 2019). The man actually had the audacity to hang up on me! Clearly, I'm not making it up as I can see it says "with katsu sauce". I WILL NEVER BUY from here again. I noticed this place during one of my walks along Sherbrooke Street. They do a lot of take out so I was the only customer actually seated in the restaurant. The friendly owner explained the menu to me. I went with my first choice, pork and cabbage dumplings. Steamed. 15 dumplings seemed like a lot but actually was just right. Dipped in a sauce of soy and Chinese vinegar, they were scrumptuous. I can hardly wait to try some of the other versions of this tasy meal. Oh, and it's very clean! read more

SO happy this restaurant opened up next to me. MeiWei is a small dumpling restaurant in NDG/Westmount run by a cute Chinese family. The wife takes the orders and the husband cooks / brings out food. The service is great and they are very nice. The resto is clean unlike a lot of dumpling places in Montreal. But most importantly, the dumplings are delicious! I got 1/2 fried, 1/2 steamed lamb & coriander (sooo good) and my sis got steamed 1/2 beef curry, 1/2 veggie. The veggie was kinda boring compared to the flavour bombs from the meat ones. Will 100% go back and order these delicious morcels of heaven again. The best part? There's a whole other part of the menu to discover, with yummy sounding appetizers! read more

Small shop, a few tables bur a good variety of dumplings. Very quick and friendly service !! I tasted; lamb-cumim and shrimp scallops pork. Took plain shrimp to steam home Good seasoning and fresh ingredients. The dough is the traditional slightly more "al dente" compared to the cantonese style which rice starch to soften the dough and make it more trans lucid. I prefer the al dente dough but the filling was was crumbling instead of remaining firmer more like a meatball. But overall they deserve a thumbs up as they are trying hard and i am sure they eiil one of the top dumpling house in Montréal read more

Excellent dumplings and the BEST sesame dessert balls! All their dumplings are excellent. I particularly like the beef curry and pork cabbage. Dumpings are packed in these great plastic containers for ready travel and orders are ready quickly(10-15 min) even during peak hours. Don't leave without ordering their sesame dessert balls. I'm not sure exactly what they are but they are served warm and the inside is gooey and has some sort of paste. They are delicious. I inhaled 8 of them in minutes. read more

Another great find for Chinese dumplings. I stopped by for some takeout after work. Decided on one order of curry chicken dumplings. They turned out to be very good, even after eating them 20-25 minutes after receiving them. They have a nice selection of dumplings, with a few other menu items as well. Can't wait to come back to try more. The restaurant itself is a nice little place. They even have a few tables on a terrace. The owners (I'm assuming they were the owners) were really friendly. FANTASTIC food. Honestly my to-go lunch and dinner place with friends at this point. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu, but the pork and Chinese cabbage and chicken curry are my two personal favourites. It seems like a business run by a very hardworking family, which makes me even more inclined to buy from here, instead of some chain fast food place. You can be in and out in 30 minutes. It's a bit small size-wise, but there are almost always available seats to dine in. Takeout is also an option and never takes more than 10-15 minutes. I've gone to MeiWei probably 30+ times now, and have had absolutely no issues ever. Highly recommended. read more

Super tasty, well-priced, fresh authentic flavours. My family are northern Chinese natives and I generally refuse to pay for dumplings that my mother didn't make-- this is an exception. The skin is tender and the fillings fresh, some of the combinations are delicious surprises (try the shrimp/egg) but everything tastes just right. Also the vegetarian options (I tried both the carrot and tofu) are amazing. Who knew good food could be so healthy. Yummy dumplings alert!! Ordered curry chicken and beef onion dumplings from here for the first time. I always eat vegetarian dumplings because I don't like the way the meat in dumplings tastes. But I decided to try chicken dumplings this time. Result: no regrets. Loved the curry chicken dumplings. And my husband enjoyed the beef dumplings. It's comparable, if not better then Quing Hua on Lincoln and has a super cozy vibe in the restaurant. Can be a good option for bringing your family, friends, or a date! Unfortunately the pork and chives dumplings tasted no different from the type you can buy from a grocery store, from the taste of the ingredients inside to the exact thickness of the dumpling skin. The pork with katsu was underwhelming - the pork tasted like it had been placed in a microwave to be defrosted. The peanut butter dumplings were the best part of the meal, even if the sauce was very watery. All in all a disappointing experience. read more

Update: also, BEST wonton soup ever. Not your run of the mill wonton soup at all. Super delicate and fresh broth and wontons. The large size includes noodles--it's perfect soup for the cold weather. Add some of the chili sauce--so good. Veggie dumplings (got the tofu mushroom) are also the tastiest vegetarian dumplings I've had in Montreal. Hot teas are also excellent.
