Overall: C // 3 stars Popular soup dumpling restaurant in Montreal with an abundance of classic and new flavors. You can have an extremely filling meal under 20CAD if you're willing to wait a bit as there is a queue both outside and for servicing. I found the appeal of this restaurant to be moreso in the flavors than the technique though. (Tom Yum XLB: B) - Impressive flavor profile that has a mild spice with a powerful cilantro note. Really love the uniqueness of this, even though it lacks soup and actual rememory of tom yum. These are double the price of the main series XLB though. (Scallop, Shrimp, Pork XLB: A) - Fantastic combination of filling with whole shrimp and scallop. Although, since it lacks much soup and the skin is quick thick, this is almost closer to a siu mai instead. Nevertheless, 10 pieces at 16CAD is a stellar deal here. (Curry Beef Potsticker: B) - Another unbeatable deal of 12CAD for 12 dumplings; the curry flavor works well for this type of dumpling, and I like the thickness of the connecting lattice. However, I found the beef to be overminced and quite dry. Food: E Presentation: E Price: +1 Atmosphere: -1 Service: E Menu: +1 Insta/Yelp/Beli/TikTok: @amei_eats

We came here for lunch with friends, we heard they had soup dumplings. The place was very busy; which is a good sign. Ordered 3 different soup dumplings, that's 30 dumplings for four people. I think we overdid it, but they're really good and they're not heavy. The place is clean, the tables are wiped down after every customer, it's a little more upscale than some of the dim sum joints I've been to in the past.

nice

Dumpling are good, same as the noodles and soup, portions are good and prices are reasonable. Staff friendly! It's busy at lunch times and a bit noisy which is kind of expected.

Sweet juicy pork, peanut butter wontons, litchi fizz

Food is amazing. All of the soup dumplings are good but the juicy pork is fantastic! The fried dumplings are so juicy, it's almost like they have soup in them too. The peanut butter wontons are a must. It's always pretty busy but they are so efficient and food comes out quickly.

Fresh and amazing! Great quick service and Simple delicious food! It was busy, the food speaks for itself!

We ordered the juicy pork soup dumplings (very good), pan fried lamb and coriander dumplings (good), spicy cucumbers (great). Service was kind but a bit spotty - food runners brought our food to another table twice. Outdoor dining was nice. Chairs did look more comfortable inside in case that matters.

These were comparable to Din Tai Fung soup dumplings (but maybe their wrappers were a little less delicate?). We really liked the pork and chives, the shrimp and coriander xiao long baos tasted lighter, and the lamb and coriander soup dumplings were the heaviest but unique. We couldn't stop eating the hot and sour cucumbers, which were both sweet and sour and not too spicy.

Small place. Very busy kitchen. A lot of people. Food delicious !!!! Service was quick. People were waiting outside. Well worth coming here Totally forgot the before pic but this is the after lol

This is one of many dumpling shops located in Chinatown. It is very busy and this place is quite jam packed. Waited about 15-20 minutes and we were seated. Ordered their pan fried dumplings and Xiao long bao to share. The dumplings tasted A-OK but better with chili oil. Taste wise I'm sure there are other dumpling spots that are equally as good in the area or close by. I would come back if I'm near Chinatown but I don't think I'd go out of my way for these.

Montreal isn't know for their chinese food so it was refreshing to be able to go to Sammi & Soupe Dumpling and try their selections out. The venue itself is really beautiful, walking from the outside you get met with a waiting area and plenty of seating inside with exposure to the kitchen. The staff was incredible attentive and made sure we were taken care of. Food wise, the menu wasn't too large which made it easy to order. Overall I'd say the food went down well and wasn't too greasy. The food had good flavor and my only critique is that it was on the pricier side for the portions - we were still hungry after eating. We decided to get a mix of their signature dishes - pork soup dumplings, pan fried dumplings, and their spicy tofu. The spicy tofu was really cold and refreshing to start out with - it's basically cold tofu with lao gan ma chili oil. The dumplings were filling and the chili sauce is incredible, though I felt the dumplings were on the smaller side. Definitely a go to spot in Montreal's chinatown.

Having from NYC, where we have many places from great dumplings, these dumplings are very average. The juicy dumplings were not juicy, and the filling was not tasty. We ordered three kinds of juicy dumplings. I think the classic pork was the best. The lamb and cilantro was gamey, and if you do not like cilantro, don't order this. The worst of all was the pork pan fried dumplings. It might look fancy and authentic from the pan fried, but the pork filling was dry and tasteless. This part was very memorable. How bad it is!!! I couldn't have a second one. Packed it to go but ended up in the trash. The best part of our meal was the peanut butter noodles and spicy oil tiny dumplings. The peanut butter noodles were cold, so it's gave me the refreshing start, plus I like sesame flavor. The spicy oil dumplings were half a biter. Lol. The skin was the best part as it was very soft. I would skip this place if you are looking for good dumplings.

Classic Juicy Pork, Juicy Pork & Chives, and Shrimp & Coriander.

My boyfriend and I wanted the perfect Thanksgiving meal so why not come to have Xiao Long Dumplings :) This place definitely exceed our expectations!! Quality of Food: We ordered Classic Juicy Pork, Juicy Pork & Chives, and Shrimp & Coriander. We were use to Din Tai Fung size which are smaller dumplings so we were quite surprised when we saw how large the dumplings were. Our favorites were Juicy Pork & Chives and Shrimp & Coriander. I would recommend ordering two for a party of two. We ate almost all of them we only had 5 dumplings left. Wait Time & How to Pay: There was a short wait for two, about 15 minutes. When you arrive you let the host know how many and just stand in the lobby until you're directed to your table. When you are done eating you pay at the entrance. We only knew how to pay because we saw others pay when we arrived. The food was amazing and the service was okay! You can tell this spot is where the locals go because everyone knows what to do and how to order. If you're in the area this a MUST :)

Dumplings steamed and fried

Some of the best dumplings we've ever had. Pork & chives, beef terraki and fried beef and cabbage. Only suggestion - add wine. They have only beer and sake.

The hand pulled noodles here are so good. My partner and I got the small bowls (braised beef and lamb noodle soups), but the portions are HUGE. Highly recommend going for noodle style 6 (thickest, more chewy) or 4. We also got the pork and cabbage dumplings, which are super juicy. This meal was very filling; we could've done without the dumplings, but they're too good to pass up. Service was ok since only one person was handling most FOH procedures. Atmosphere was also fine. It was just really warm, even with the multiple fans running (open doors, no AC), but it was to be expected with the pots of noodles cooking in the front. One important thing to note: this place is cash‑only, and there's an ATM right at the entrance. That was literally the first thing the employee told us when we walked in, which felt a bit off‑putting. The dumplings themselves were great, and we ordered beers to go with the meal. However, the payment experience was not good. He quoted the total as 70 CAD and told us that was 62 USD since we said we had USD. When we calculated it ourselves, it came out to 49 USD. After we pointed that out, he claimed the "foreign transaction fees go up and down with inflation," which didn't make sense. It felt like we were almost being overcharged. So we ended up getting CAD from the ATM machine outside and paid him, however, we didn't appreciate his dishonesty and felt like he was trying to scam us.

We were impressed with the quality of the ingredients, particularly the flavorful broths. The standouts were -- Wonton Soup: the broth was wonderful -- Cucumber Salad: crunchy, spicy, and addictive -- Potato Julianne: unbelievably good with its spicy, tangy seasoning; a must-order! -- Cumin Beef: my father--who usually dislikes anything that is unfamiliar--enjoyed this! -- Pork Belly with Sweet Potato Noodles: this special dish is rich and spicy --Eggplant, Bell Pepper, and Potato To top it off, the owner came out and talked to us about the history behind the names and ingredients of different dishes on the menu. Despite the forbidding, poorly kept exterior and stair landing, the interior dining area was clean. Food consisted of Vegetarian Spring Rolls (two absolutely tiny fried rolls with a flavorless yellow dipping sauce), Cumin Beef (perhaps the star of the show, relatively tender, with specks of dried chili - not at all spicy), Sweet and Spicy Eggplant (again, okay but lacked spiciness/heat and flavor), and rice, all washed down with marginally cold Tsing Tao beer. Portions were generous, service was hurried/at rapid pace for some reason, but lacked follow-up once the dishes arrived! The meal for two set us back CAD 58+ with hefty taxes and generous tips. Not a bad place by any means, but what we had was nothing spectacular!

These are the most interesting fried mushrooms you will ever have. They are also the richest fried mushrooms you will ever have. You will adore every single bite - and if you are lucky you can eat 1/3 of a serving before being totally full. I believe the trick here is that the batter is 100 percent egg yolk no white no nothing else. They also do a salt and pepper tofu that is creamy on the inside and crispy on the outside. How often do you see that? Braised seafood in ginger and garlic is the same dish you see in many other Chinese establishments but is lovely here. The squid is tough but the ginger is to die for. I was expecting a more flavored experience and maybe that is not what they do or I could have ordered differently. The menu is huge so it is hard to know where to start. We went here because of the good Yelp reviews. Were we arrived in Chinatown there were many other places that looked great, so we loitered at the door for a minute while deciding what to do. As we loitered a family came out and noticed us and asked if were were going to Keung Kee. We said we were thinking about it and they said just go, it is the best restaurant in Chinatown. Sold. We went in, up the stairs, waited a bit, and got a table. This is the kid of place you need to bring a lot of people because that is whet it is built for, the menu is extensive, and the portions are huge. We puzzled over the menu then ordered our food. We wanted a bottle of cold sake and the waiter brought it in an ice bucket. Nice. We started with the pork dumplings. The dumplings were very goof but came in a hot thick sweet peanut sauce. With a lighter sauce these would have been outstanding. The scallop was huge and had a bunch of stuff on it. There was some good scallop flavor but it was masked with all the stuff that tasted like old oil. The noodle dish was good but also had some old oil flavor coming from somewhere. All the meats and vegetables were nice and fresh but the good sauce I think was the source of the oil. We saw a table next to us had the pork chops and was asked, what are those? So we got that too. The chops were thin bone in with a batter fried then soaked in a vinegar sauce. These would have been good as our only item with a bowl of rice. Our co-eaters there had many good looking things. I would give this a try again but would bring a few more people so we could try more stuff. Total for all that including the sake was $100 Canadian. Not bad!
