TL;DR/The Short Version:
Delicious handmade dumplings in The Plateau. Smallish place. Friendly service.
The Long Version:
I have an obsession with handmade dumplings and there are many places that serve them in Montreal, so when I'm in Montreal I have to have dumplings at least once ;)
My husband and I went to Dumplings Imagine for lunch and it was fantastic.
They have lunch specials Tuesdays to Fridays 11:30am-2:30pm and we took advantage of this deal.
I got the mixed dumplings ($11.99), steamed and chose the cucumber salad as my included appetizer. I also opted to pay a $1 upgrade to get a hot and sour soup.
My husband also got the mixed dumplings, but he got them pan fried and there's an extra $1.50 to have them fried instead of steamed. So his dumplings were $13.49. He chose the vegetable spring rolls as his appetizer included in the combo. He also got an orange Fanta ($1).
You get 10 dumplings in the special. My husband was unable to articulate what type of dumplings he got, lol, but I got mostly chicken and mushroom dumplings (which worked out well because these are my favourite type of dumplings and they were delicious), I got a pork dumpling, a pork and green onion dumpling, a pork and cilantro dumpling, and a lamb dumpling which was too gamey for my tastes, so after a tiny bite to see what the flavour was I gave it to my husband, haha.
I had one of my husband's fried dumplings, it was a pork one, and it was bit oily/greasy for my tastes. I definitely preferred my steamed dumplings, but my husband enjoyed his fried dumplings.
Service was friendly and welcoming. They give you cold water and put a glass container at your table so you can refill your water yourself, which I like.
The place is small and simply decorated.
Dumplings are handmade.
We had a great lunch and I got my dumplings fix ;)
