Delicious Cantonese style food. We ordered the chow mein and kungpao chicken. Service was fast and efficient. Place was casual and bright.

Our party of 4 came in based on excellent reviews and we were not disappointed. We ordered spring rolls, chicken corn soup, cubed spicy pork, beef with black pepper sauce, spicy salty shrimp and spicy salty pork chop. We had a medium bowl of rice for the table. Too much food for the 4 of us and it was all delicious! Highly recommend the spicy salty shrimp and pork chop! Try this place - you will be deighted!

This is a nice hidden Hong Kong style Chinese place in Chinatown. Black pepper beef- the gave nice thick pieces of beef that had some heat which I appreciated. The beef was a bit chewy though. Fried fish filet- they used way too much batter here and could have been crispier. The fish they used was good but could have used more salt/pepper/jalapeño seasoning. Beef tendon- well done dish with nice big pieces of tendon. The vegetable medley and sauce made it good. Service and atmosphere are good. This place is fairly clean too.

Absolutely delicious. I feel like it's authentic as it can get. Service was quick and food came out nice and hot. The salt and pepper pork chops were soooooo delicious. It had the perfect seasoning. I asked for a pan fried noodle thinking it was those crispy noodles and I got more of a chow fun. It's fine cause it was still super good. We came around 4:30 pm. Which was good cause around 5:15 it was getting packed. Not thing I did not like was I was cold lol. I wish the heater worked lol. Overall pretty great and affordable dinner. Each entree was like $12-$14 CAD. Better priced than the US.

Authentic Chinese food. It's almost like a hole in the wall place. I almost mistaken this place as the cafe on the first floor but you actually need to walk upstairs to get to the restaurant. My friends and I ordered sesame beef, stir fry vegetables and wonton noodle soup. - sesame beef: taste like it was first fried then stir fry with a sauce similar to orange chicken and sprinkled with sesame on top. It actually tasted like an enhanced version of Mongolian beef from Panda Express without the greasiness - garlic stir fry veggie: strong garlic flavor, vegetables not overall cooked, not salty or greasy -wonton noodle soup: the wonton is acceptable. Although my favorite wonton noodle place normally has wonton bigger than the size of a fish ball. My friends love the soup though As someone who's eaten Chinese food throughout their life, I would say this place is pretty legit. It's reasonably priced and portioned. I did see a lot of people order seafood so I might try that if I'm ever in the area

Good Chinese food with a huge menu! Reviews here are mixed and service is not with smiles.. but if you are looking for fast, fresh eats at reasonable prices, look no farther! We were indecisive about where to go for dinner on our last evening so my coworker stopped some young people carrying leftovers to ask where they had eaten and if they would recommend it. The young women shared the name and location of the restaurant and off we went! Great find in Chinatown!

This restaurant is located in the pedestrian section of the rue de la Gauchetiere in Chinatown Montreal. You have to climb steep stairs to get up and the dining room is kind of small...about 6-8 tables of 10 and a few smaller tables. I had a craving for a Young Chow Fried rice so that's what I got...I spoke with the waiter in Chinese, so maybe that's why I was treated like a local, kind of abrupt and rushed... The rug in the dining room and stairs is a bit run down, but the food was good...I asked for the dish to be made lighter and with less sodium...it was very much to my liking. Most of the other tables had their traditional Chinese meal with fish, vegetables, hot pots, noodles or rice, etc...all looked really good and everyone looked very happy.

Solid choice for Cantonese lunch. Great prices with big portions and food was delicious. They even had fried milk on the menu!!! So good. Sooooo good. Service is fast and efficient. Restaurant is up a long set of stairs and is casual.

I loved Keung Kee, an unadorned walk-up in Chinatown. We were the only Gweilo in the restaurant, guaranteeing authenticity. Don't expect fancy, but Keung Kee had AC, a pleasure in 94 degree weather. My shrimp in lobster sauce, around $17, was out of this world delicious. Singapore noodles was average according to my spouse, but Keung Kee is known for its seafood. Service was professional and pleased with my oohs and aahs. They were appreciative of my cash payment and my 20% tip.

Pleasantly surprised to find such good and authentic Cantonese food in Montreal. The way they prepared their seafood was as good as the good restaurants in the San Francisco Bay Area and Los Angeles. Their seafood was really fresh and of high quality. We saw pictures of some seafood dishes on the wall and decided to splurge and order more than the two of us could eat for lunch. We did end up taking home another meal! We had: poached surf clam, steamed razor clams with garlic, two scallops steamed with garlic and Chinese vermicelli, sautéed pea shoots with garlic, Singapore style rice noodles, beef chow fun, and wonton noodle soup. We were so hungry we finished the giant surf clam and razor clams and one of the scallops before I remembered to take pictures! I took pictures of the pictures on the wall for the two missing dishes because they did look very much alike. I have never seen surf clam and scallops that big in California. The scallops had diameter of about 2 inches (5 cm)! They were all fresh and delicious and perfectly cooked! The beef chow fun, Singapore style rice noodles, and sautéed pea shoots were all very good. The Cantonese style wonton noodle soup was my least favorite; the shrimps they used were very fresh but overall it lacked the authentic wonton flavor. That was kind of expected because it's normally never found in restaurants that don't specialize in wonton noodle soup. Staff was very friendly and polite (maybe because I spoke Cantonese). The restaurant is not a nice and classy place. But for the price and food quality, I think it provides excellent value. I highly recommend Keung Kee if you want authentic Cantonese cuisine in Montreal!

I'm a sucker for authentic Cantonese cuisine, and Keung Kee provided a taste of home and more. The menu, as you might expect from a bustling restaurant in any major city's Chinatown, was extensive - we had a hard time narrowing down to just 3 dishes due to the small size of our party. Ultimately we went with the seafood noodle, fried fish, and the well-loved scallops (a favorite on Yelp!). I guess you could say we were in a seafood mood, and our choices did not disappoint. Everything was fresh and flavorful, and the scallops were a standout. The restaurant can be a little hard to find since it's on the second floor of an old-looking building, but once we stepped in we knew we were going to leave happy. Another gem to add for my list of good Montreal Asian spots.

Rich combination of flavours in the Hong Kong lobster and Singaporean noodles. Definitely recommend these dishes. Each table comes with tea to drink, and very fast to serve.

I read on Yelp this spot was a go to if you want authentic Cantonese food. I loved this spot! First off, know this is family style restaurant so any dish you order will be larger portions as they're meant to be shared with friends and family. I love these types of restaurants as it only enhances the atmosphere dining with friends while sharing food! The restaurant is tucked away, there's a door and some stairs to go up to get here. The food? Absolutely delicious! My favorite was the Singapore noodles and then the duck! Both dishes were super delicious and plenty of food for both my girlfriend and I. Definitely recommend these two dishes. 10/10 The kung pao chicken was also very good, but I didn't expect so many peanuts. Perhaps the original dish has this many nuts, however I'm typically accustomed to more meat and less nuts, but overall I loved this dish was well! The vegetables were cooked perfectly and I loved how large the pieces were. 8/10 The vegetables and Chinese mushroom were okay. At first when I read the menu and it states vegetables so I thought there would be more than just bok choy. however, the dish pairs nicely with the other meatier dishes we ordered. 7/10 Overall the atmosphere isn't anything special. The tables and furniture do looking a little worn down, but the dishes and family style more than makes up for the interior designs of the restaurant. I would definitely recommend trying this place out as they have lots of food options to try from!

What I didn't know at the time is: (1) they also have NYC locations, including their U.S. flagship 1/2 block from Tonii's, one of my favorite Chinatown cheap eats and (2) Yin Ji Chang Fen's chains origin is in Guangzhou in 1958... and that location still exists! So, it was a must try! Glad we stopped by and would recommend it for a try, especially if you are looking for a convenient bite while on Ste. Catherine Oeste. (Note - Did not get the chance to check out other steamed rice roll places in Montreal, but will definitely do on my next trip.) About the restaurant experience... while they have printed menus, you use the QR code on the table to order, although there was a helpful waiter to assist. We ordered a fresh Shrimp with Chives and a Roasted Duck with Chives Steamed Rice Roll. Peanut sauce needed to be ordered as an extra. They provide complementary hot tea. (You can also order a can of Chinese iced tea.) Yin Ji Chang Fen's rolls were delicious, especially the roast duck! The sauces added make the rolls even more vibrant. Note - Didn't get the chance to check out other Montreal steamed rice roll places, but will definitely do on my next trip. Also at one point back home, will also check out their N.Y.
