    Chicken Fried Rice

We were craving Chinese and came across VIP. We called them ahead to ask them for recommendations for their most popular dishes before placing the order on UberEats. We ended up ordering General Tao Chicken, Sesame Beef & Chicken Fried Rice. Food arrived within an hour of placing the order. Portions were huge! Quality of ingredients & taste was excellent. I personally loved the Chicken Fried Rice & General Tao but found the Beef Sesame to be alright. Would highly recommend this establishment to others and would definitely be ordering again!

Due to an amazing lack of reviews for Montreal's wonderful Chinatown. I had to just take risks and walk into places unknown, just like the old days before the interwebs... After walking around Chinatown for a few days, and spying on all of the different restaurants and their patrons, we finally chose this location out of many. From peering in from outside the front window, it appears to be a white tablecloth establishment. But, after reading the menu prices on the wall, I knew it was too good to be true. Indeed once we were seated, we were quick to realize that the tables were covered in layers of at least 50 white plastic trash bags that slip around underneath your food. Makes for an appetizing situation and sound. Like I noted before, the specials are kindly posted on the wall in Chinese, French, and English with clearly listed prices. The Snow Pea Leaves with Garlic Sauce were excellent and under $14 CAD, which was a surprise. Normally, this dish will set you back about $14.95. Sadly, that was the only item that we ordered off of the wall menu. We should have stuck with the wall recommendations, especially the 2 for $24 lobster special that everyone around us was ordering. They obviously knew what was up, and we did not. The Salt and Pepper Pork Chops were actually a little spicy, much to my amazement, and it made me happy. The Sliced Fish with Black Bean Sauce, could have been worse. But, I detest celery and this dish had a ton of it. It was my fault for not letting the waiter know. For a Hong Kong style establishment, the service was absolutely amazing. Again, much to my surprise. The dishes come with complimentary bowl of steaming rice and a pot oolong tea. Everything was plentiful and quite cheap. Montreal has made me more humble in many ways.

Let me just say, this place is by far one of the best Asian restaurant I've ever been to. Love the General Tao chicken here, the ginger lobster is to die for, a bit pricey but worth every penny. When me and my wife goes there we spent easily $100-$150 lol. I love this place. Clean, friendly and very professional. And another plus is their open until 03:30AM. I think I've been to VIP at least a dozen times. And I will keep going until I'm their last customer.

    Hot and sour soup

Came here on two occasions 'cause their general tao chicken is godly (yeah I know it's not even real Chinese food, but hey it's good). I've also tried their chow fun noodles with beef, hot and sour soup, and chow mein noodles with chicken and pork. They were all very tasty with heaping portions! All their dishes you can split between two (with a side of rice) and be completely content. Their hot and sour soup was especially filling and more flavourful than ones I've tried at other places. I'd like to come here with like 8 people and order 10 different dishes *_*. Time to make more friends.. Now, for their service, it's a mixed bag. They seem pretty structured in a sense they have an order of things to do for each customer (give them tea pot and cups, take order, put down serving plates and utensils, bring out food, take away dishes, give oranges and fortune cookies for dessert if dinner, else just fortune cookies). Besides that, it's hard to get their attention for other things you need, like more napkins, tea, etc. It's best if you walk up to them and ask. They won't come around asking if everything is okay or not so don't expect that kind of service. But honestly, I'd still come back for the generous amount of delicious food!

I've been going to VIP ever since I can remember! This is my to go to Chinese food. So good. Definitely recommend the general chicken , the SHRIMPS! fried rice.. omg anything on their menu is delicious!!!

Ohhhhh heck yea this place is bomb! The salt and pepper pork chops are a must ! Classic Chinese food cooked to how it should be. The location is a bit hidden, but feasible! ....We were seated quick and the food came out in about 10 min from the order. The building seems old but it works!!

First thing I'd like to post is that the food is absolutely amazing. You get great value for your dollar, it tastes great and comes out of the kitchen in okay time. They also give complimentary tea as well. The service is not great. They didn't come and ask if we needed anything after the food was brought. I had needed to call over a waitress myself 4 times. Which for me is not the greatest. The place was half full and with 2 servers could've been the issue. The decor is very dated and dreary as well the cheap plastic tablecloths that stick to your arms when eating is annoying. It was also very cold as the AC was on high but I understand on hot summer days is that way. Bring a coat. I wasn't impressed I had to call the waiter 3 times to pay and leave. I was left sitting there. Overall, great food and value. But low service and low decor. My friend was overcharged and he made an issue with fixing the bill $1.00 which to me was unacceptable. Also he showed he was annoyed about making the correction. I'd order to go from here but the dine-in experience leaves a want for more.

    Sichuan Style Shrimps.

A whole bowl of peas and carrots that they call Sichuan Style Shrimps - $15.95, and it tasted like a bowl of peas and carrots boiled in ketchup. $15.95 for the garbage!

Chicken with black bean sauce. Lots of celery and green peppers but pretty tasty

Probably the most well known Chinese restaurant in Montreal, patrons consistently rave about the place. Open late late, this is often where famished clubbers head when the bars start to close down. The food is cheap and the service is swift, but it's not fine dining, the tablecloths are disposable after all. Think of classic Chinese food from the 80s, assorted vegetables drowning in a lumpy MSG laden sauce. At 3am after a night of heavy drinking it's the perfect meal, but on a day-to-day basis I find their style of food a bit heavy. Le Maison VIP is really great for what they are. If you are in the mood for old-school Western style Chinese food, or the party is dying down late one night and the munchies are taking hold there isn't a better place to be.

First time in Montreal and me and my friend were very hungry at 1 AM. We stumbled upon this place and it was pretty packed. The food was pretty good and the portions were generous. However, the service wasn't that great as it looked like they were understaffed. The man behind the counter was pretty snobby but overall it wasn't bad. Would recommend if you want Chinese food late at night.

D19 Beef with black bean sauce and crisp bitter melon--really good!

The Long Version: I love hand pulled noodles, so my husband and I had lunch here. He's not a fan of noodle soups but agreed to come and just have appetizers, lol. I got the small-sized Spicy Mushrooms and Chicken Noodle Soup ($13.99). I chose the #6 size noodles which is the thickest noodles they offer. My husband got the imperial rolls ($4.50 for 3) and the fried shrimp wontons ($11.99 for 10). I really enjoyed my soup, especially the thick noodles. They were chewy and the right amount of softness. There were chicken pieces in it, mushrooms and a delicious "tofu sausage." It also had 2 pieces of baby Bok Choy and some pieces of kelp. I wished there was more vegetables. The soup also had green onions and cilantro. The broth was a tiny bit spicy from the chili oil. I am happy that this soup does not have sesame seeds in it, so I didn't have to ask them to hold the sesame seeds. Lol. My only complaint would be that the broth was a bit too salty and too oily for my tastes. I still thought it was good though. My husband enjoyed his appetizers. The imperial rolls were vegetarian. I didn't have any, but they looked like nothing special to me, haha. However, the hubby liked them which is what matters. The fried shrimp wontons looked good and he liked those too. Service was pleasant and efficient. The decor is casual with some fun touches. I liked the rotating lanterns with lights on the ceiling and the drawings of a big squid and clams on the walls. I would return to try their other noodle soups and also their handmade dumplings. Review #10 (2026)

The Long Version: My husband and I had dinner here and we really enjoyed it. I initially was going to get their soup dumplings (their specialty), but when I looked at the menu, I saw that they had Laksa ($18.99), so I couldn't resist ordering that instead. My husband prefers pan-fried dumplings over soup dumplings, so he got the pork and mushroom dumplings ($14.50) and there was a $1.99 surcharge for pan-frying (the base price is for steamed). My Laksa was huge and delicious. The broth was so rich with coconut milk and a bit spicy. It was really flavourful. The noodles had a nice chew to them. The soup also contained some decent-sized shrimp, velvetized sliced chicken, cubes of tofu and a boiled egg. I wished it had some vegetables in though because I felt very unhealthy eating just starch and protein, lol. I did enjoy it though ;) I had one of my husband's dumplings and it was good. It had ground pork in it and chopped up mushrooms. There was a slight gingery taste to it. I liked it and my husband liked them too. Service was very pleasant. The server refilled our waters regularly and I like that the water had ice in it and was very cold. The restaurant is not too large and has seating on a main level then up a few steps they have 4 more tables of 4 by the front window. Very few American-Chinese//Canadian-Chinese dishes on the menu - though they exist. This may be a regional Chinese restaurant but I do not recognize the region. One visit and three dishes convinced me I have to go back rather than just eating around town. In the not to be missed department: Mushrooms fried in egg yolk. These are the most interesting fried mushrooms you will ever have. They are also the richest fried mushrooms you will ever have. You will adore every single bite - and if you are lucky you can eat 1/3 of a serving before being totally full. I believe the trick here is that the batter is 100 percent egg yolk no white no nothing else. They also do a salt and pepper tofu that is creamy on the inside and crispy on the outside. How often do you see that? Braised seafood in ginger and garlic is the same dish you see in many other Chinese establishments but is lovely here. The squid is tough but the ginger is to die for. I am eager to get back. * * * * P.S. I DID get back. We ordered five more dishes. The amazingness quotient continues. Don't miss their fried spareribs.

As we loitered a family came out and noticed us and asked if were were going to Keung Kee. We said we were thinking about it and they said just go, it is the best restaurant in Chinatown. Sold. We went in, up the stairs, waited a bit, and got a table. This is the kid of place you need to bring a lot of people because that is whet it is built for, the menu is extensive, and the portions are huge. We puzzled over the menu then ordered our food. We wanted a bottle of cold sake and the waiter brought it in an ice bucket. Nice. We started with the pork dumplings. The dumplings were very goof but came in a hot thick sweet peanut sauce. With a lighter sauce these would have been outstanding. The scallop was huge and had a bunch of stuff on it. There was some good scallop flavor but it was masked with all the stuff that tasted like old oil. The noodle dish was good but also had some old oil flavor coming from somewhere. All the meats and vegetables were nice and fresh but the good sauce I think was the source of the oil. We saw a table next to us had the pork chops and was asked, what are those? So we got that too. The chops were thin bone in with a batter fried then soaked in a vinegar sauce. These would have been good as our only item with a bowl of rice. Our co-eaters there had many good looking things. I would give this a try again but would bring a few more people so we could try more stuff. Total for all that including the sake was $100 Canadian. Not bad!
