Soooo old fashioned but in a good way . Almost like being in a time warp both in decor and food when Chinese meant Cantonese not Szechuan . The two of us had the dinner special ($35.95) leaving with enough for another meal . Soup was OK , fried spinach oily . The PB dumplings were very good with particularly tasty pork filling . The honey garlic spareribs were exactly as I remember from the 70's . Very meaty quality ribs but so retro . Beef with ginger was the same thing being unchanged in decades and again with excellent quality beef . Kon Pao shrimp were good with a bit of heat . Staff were friendly , trying very hard to joke with the patrons . The restaurant was pretty full . Many of the customers I may have met in the 70's when they were well into middle age . Overall a fun trip to the past with good food at good prices in a nice setting . No drink licence. read more

This is a good place serving authentic Chinese cuisine. It is a go-to place for a lot of Chinese in the West-Island. But they also serve westernized chinese food too. They offer take-out and can deliver. Not the greatest looking dining room, but the food is good and for me that's all that matters. read more

The food was okay (mostly). The waiter put down all glasses with his hand wrapped firmly over the rim making sure the each water glass was well handled. I took the glass and carefully wiped the rim so I wouldn't drink what ever was on his fingers. My glass was in the way so he grabbed it by the rim and moved it. I drank no more water at that dinner. I began to watch, carefully, how the food/plates were being handled. The waiter also handled a click-pen (the type of ballpoint where you click the top to be able to write). Like any normal person, he played with it. He also handled money at the till. Of course he was the waiter and delivered the food to the tables - in and out of the kitchen carrying plates, moving the pen to his pocket to carry several dishes at a time and to arrange tables. I started to watch "how" he was carrying the plates. His thumb, that thing that was clicking that pen ... and handling money was right up on the rim of the plate cross-contaminating the edge of the each plate he handled. The portions were very generous and his thumb was routinely in the food on the rim of every well-filled plate he handled - making sure that if you did not drink from the water glasses you got a good dose of him anyhow. I began to really wonder. Not having the cheek to walk into the kitchen I looked at everything in easy view. If those cobwebs which were clearly, thick and no less than 30 cm (1 ft) long had been allowed to accumulate what else was going on. This was an absolutely disgusting experience. My wife is allergic to shrimp and we've mentioned to exclude shrimp from the meal. Yet, this restaurant still served the shrimp in our meal. This isnt the first occasion, however overall the food is good. Make sure to emphasize them a few times if you're allergic to a particular food!! read more

In Restaurant or delivery , food is great ! For lunch, it is cheap and fast. For diner, the dish ranges between 10 and 14$ +rice or noodles, but there is enough for 2 people. We've gotten different things and its always been great. This is our favorite chinese place in the area. read more

I was blown away by this restaurant.When I was told that we were having a family dinner at Maison Kam I was not expecting the food to be so good. You can imagine - The West Island is not quite known for having great Thai and Chinese restaurants. But Maison Kam is here to change that stereotype. The food is fresh and portions are huge for a group. Their General Tao chicken is good - not much batter, and nice chunks of white meat. Although the sauce is brown - and more sweet than spicy or tart. Almost like a BBQ sauce. Everything on the menu that we tried was great. Certainly somewhere I'm going to go to again. read more

We have been gong to this Chinese restaurant , since it moved from the Cote Des Neiges area, the food is always top notch, and hot. Recently on the last two visits, the food is not coming out as hot as usual, and last time had to send it back. Don't go during the week, as they have less staff and it takes too long to get your order. recently we went back again, and waited over an hour for our meal, and it was one of their selected meals. It's a smaller place but the staff that serves should be changed, and not use the owners son, who has a bad attitude at times. read more

The worst Chinese food I have ever tasted! Not sure if eating in the restaurant is better than delivery, but I just had it delivered and I will NEVER order there again. I should have caught on when they said they don't accept anything but cash... My noodles were burnt, the General Tao Chicken was tasteless and the rice was over cooked... Not bad for west island, and pretty inexpensive. 3.5 stars. We came with my family for lunch one day and ordered pretty standard fare: fried Cantonese noodles, house fried rice, and beef hor fun. The food came pretty quickly, even though there was only one guy working at the time. The best dish was the fried rice, which was fragrant and flavorful. The broad hor fun noodles lacked the "wok hei" flavour and honestly, I think my hubby makes the dish better at home. The Cantonese noodles were okay, although for some reason they substituted a different kind of white ramen-like noodle instead of the thinner yellow crispy one that is typically used. We will come here again if in the area, but if craving more authentic fare, we will probably drive to Chinatown. read more

I love this place especially for the lunch special. It is cheap (~13-15$ tax and tip in) and is delicious and filling. I have been coming here for years and although there has been a slight decrease in quality, it is still my favourite Chinese restaurant in Montreal. The servers are not warm and fuzzy but get the job done. The soups are yummy and they serve tea and orange slices with the meal. I recommend this place specifically for lunch on a weekday when it is considerably less busy. Make sure to check your order if you take out because there are often mistakes. read more

Best Chinese food tasted anywhere in Montreal ever! Seriously. The egg rolls just tasted very fresh. The Beef & Broccoli was delicious, beef was tender, broccoli was firm. Special rice was full of delicious goodies including egg, mushroom onion and more. The General Tau Chicken was actually chicken with a little breading not breading with a little chicken. The ambiance and decor was a little to be desired but it was full on a Monday night.....if you want very good Chinese food, this is the place. read more

I've been going to this place for years. Really affordable and authentic food. Gets super busy on Friday and the weekends so keep that in mind. If you want to eat there the dining area is small. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone! read more

Great restaurant if you love ginger.....ginger in everything. Sesame beef was extremely well done to a point it looked like a rock. The peanut butter dumplings would have been better if there wasn't ginger in them, 1st time I have ever seen that. The spring rolls had.....you guessed it.....ginger, and a ton of salt. Will not be going again. I hear the Pearl is the best Chinese restaurant on the west island. read more
