    Great Szechuan food in the heart of downtown. They offer dishes that are spicy, mouth numbing (the best!) and all while still being very flavourful and having a lot of depth. I really liked their spicy crispy chicken bones (a little bit of work but well worth it). They also have pretty reasonable pricing for a restaurant for their alcoholic beverages. We also got their beef and their green bean dishes. Both very good! The beef was super tender and juicy. The chairs are cute and small but I can see how taller people might have a hard time in terms of posture.

    When you're hung over you usually turn to something greasy to help you recover. Instead of going for burgers and fries I decided to try something different. Orders a wonton soup which was flavourless. The wontons weren't made with love. Peanut butter dumplings had a sorta spicy peanut butter sauce which made it stand out compared to most super sweet ones I've had. The wontons were flavourless same as the soup. They added a few green onions to make it look better then it actually was. My friend got the general Tao spicy and nothing to go gaga over. The chicken and spinach wasn't good and in my personal experience the spinach should be crispy not soggy. All and all I can't say I loved it or hated it. It's a 5 on 10. = in every plate

    My boyfriend is Chinese and we often go eat Chinese food together. We tried this place yesterday for dinner and really enjoyed it. We had #42 double cooked pork, shrimp and vegetables, and lamb dish comes with potatoes (first item on the chef suggestion at the back of the menu) All very tasty dishes but I personally preferred the pork (juicy, flavourful) and my boyfriend preferred the lamb (spicy and tender) + large menu, tasty dishes, served hot, decent prices, waiter come often to refill your water glass, clean, quiet (Monday evening), we asked the waiter for some recommendations of the best dishes since their menu was so big and he was very friendly to us, good customer service, good location (close to concordia) - way too oily Will come back soon for sure :) & try the other recommended dishes

    Fantastic! If you crave authentic Sichuan food then this is the best I've had in Montreal. As compared to Sichuan food in China, it's definitely milder. You get the flavor of the sichuan pepper corns but not a lot of numbing. And a reduced burn level. But for local tastes, I think they have struck a good balance. If you've never tried real Sichuan food but you do like it spicy ... then give this place a try.

    I am visiting Montreal and haven't tried any other Chinese places around here yet, but I really did not expect to find such good Asian food here. I ordered the twice-cooked pork, a Szechuan staple. It wasn't as spicy (ma-la, tongue-numbing spice) as the real thing, and they weren't using Asian leeks. This version had onions, bell peppers, and Chinese celery. Despite the differences, I really enjoyed it and thought the flavor was on-point. The pork belly slices were actual pork belly, while many Chinese restaurants in the West just use whatever cut of pork they use for ever other dish. Really exceeded my expectations! Unless all Chinese food in Montreal is this good, I really think this place deserves more attention. I'm half Chinese, grew up in Asia, and I was introduced to the one of my favorite dishes ever, twice-cooked pork, during a stay in Beijing. From that point onwards I've used this dish as a metric by which to measure Chinese restaurants in the west, when they offer it. Although it's a Szechuan dish, my understanding is that it's quite common fare throughout China, but it doesn't seem to have caught on in the west as much yet. Note: I also despise most Americanized Asian food. And I don't often care about service quality.

    How do I know this is legit Szechuan cuisine? Unlike at some restaurants, the hot peppers used here are mild and flavorful, rather than overwhelmingly spicy, so each dish is filled with peppers and red oil, but are packed with distinguishable flavors. As usual, this review focuses on the szechuan/chinese part of the menu. I simply don't bother with General Tao chicken, beef and chinese brocoli, and such wannabe chinese takeout dishes. Mapo tofu: Spicy, but not setting tastebuds on fire spicy. Good texture tofu, can definitely taste the tingling sensation of sichuan peppercorns. Lacks a bit of minced pork in my opinion, but otherwise has a subtle and delicious finishing (after the spicy, salty, you taste other flavors) Poached fish in chili oil: Again, spicy but not overwhelming. Tingling-lemony sensation due to sichuan peppercorns. Smokey/toasty taste in both broth and fish due to toasted dried red peppers. Amazing aftertaste. Broth is also packed with flavor so I drink it despite the red chili oil. Will come back for more szechuan dishes. And will definitely recommend to people who wants to experience an authentic szechuan (sichuan) dinner.

    Are you looking for some spicy authentic Sichuan food? Here's the place to go! It has a very extension menu and I highly recommend the Fried Spicy Sichuan Chicken and the Spicy Beef stew. It can get quite spicy so make sure you ask for less spice if you can't take it. This is a cozy small restaurant that is very casual. It's at the basement level so don't miss the entrance! Good service and they do take out as well. Go check it out if you want spicy sichuan food.

    Excellent food and service! There were Chinese families eating there and it was a friendly atmosphere. I recommend their twice-cooked pork!!! Super good. My girlfriend ordered crab and she enjoyed it, but there was a TON of red hot peppers on it (too spicy for me!). Sichuan food is great and this is a good place to try it! :)

    Place is closed and reopened with non-szechuan food and a new name. Seems disorganized and slow so far but we have hopes it will be decent.

My husband got the imperial rolls ($4.50 for 3) and the fried shrimp wontons ($11.99 for 10). I really enjoyed my soup, especially the thick noodles. They were chewy and the right amount of softness. There were chicken pieces in it, mushrooms and a delicious "tofu sausage." It also had 2 pieces of baby Bok Choy and some pieces of kelp. I wished there was more vegetables. The soup also had green onions and cilantro. The broth was a tiny bit spicy from the chili oil. I am happy that this soup does not have sesame seeds in it, so I didn't have to ask them to hold the sesame seeds. Lol. My only complaint would be that the broth was a bit too salty and too oily for my tastes. I still thought it was good though. My husband enjoyed his appetizers. The imperial rolls were vegetarian. I didn't have any, but they looked like nothing special to me, haha. However, the hubby liked them which is what matters. The fried shrimp wontons looked good and he liked those too. Service was pleasant and efficient. The decor is casual with some fun touches. I liked the rotating lanterns with lights on the ceiling and the drawings of a big squid and clams on the walls. I just wasn't too sure about the noodles. We did see some plates come out and the noodles looked good, but they didn't look fantastic so I definitely wanna go back and actually just tried the noodles, but I always get tempted with the dumplings LMFAO

All 3 were freshly made & ready for pickup in 10 minutes. Dumplings were soft, delicate & the peanut sauce was amazing. Gentlemen taking orders(owner?) was polite & efficient, repeating the order back again on pick up. Appetizer size portions were inexpensive and once we started eating, I almost placed a 2nd order as it was outstanding.

Very few American-Chinese//Canadian-Chinese dishes on the menu - though they exist. This may be a regional Chinese restaurant but I do not recognize the region. One visit and three dishes convinced me I have to go back rather than just eating around town. In the not to be missed department: Mushrooms fried in egg yolk. These are the most interesting fried mushrooms you will ever have. They are also the richest fried mushrooms you will ever have. You will adore every single bite - and if you are lucky you can eat 1/3 of a serving before being totally full. I believe the trick here is that the batter is 100 percent egg yolk no white no nothing else. They also do a salt and pepper tofu that is creamy on the inside and crispy on the outside. How often do you see that? Braised seafood in ginger and garlic is the same dish you see in many other Chinese establishments but is lovely here. The squid is tough but the ginger is to die for. I am eager to get back. * * * * P.S. I DID get back. We ordered five more dishes. The amazingness quotient continues. Don't miss their fried spareribs.

With a lighter sauce these would have been outstanding. The scallop was huge and had a bunch of stuff on it. There was some good scallop flavor but it was masked with all the stuff that tasted like old oil. The noodle dish was good but also had some old oil flavor coming from somewhere. All the meats and vegetables were nice and fresh but the good sauce I think was the source of the oil. We saw a table next to us had the pork chops and was asked, what are those? So we got that too. The chops were thin bone in with a batter fried then soaked in a vinegar sauce. These would have been good as our only item with a bowl of rice. Our co-eaters there had many good looking things. I would give this a try again but would bring a few more people so we could try more stuff. Total for all that including the sake was $100 Canadian. Not bad!

While we were there, the fire alarm was ringing. It did not seem like there was a fire, and three fire trucks even came to check things out, but no one inside the restaurant seemed concerned so everyone kept eating. The food was good but it was a little annoying eating with the fire alarm on. We ordered a lot of dim sum classics that we eat back home in California but it seemed like the prices were lower than what we normally pay back home. The bill once we figured our the CAD-USD conversion seemed very reasonable. If we're in town again and the fire alarm isn't loud, we'll try it again.
