We were in need of dinner before getting locked inside an escape room. So we found a spot that was…read morenearby that looked interesting. Gon Bui is definitely an Asian fusion restaurant. Taking some traditional dishes but mixing it up with one or two other types of cuisines. The standouts were: + Cauliflower Bang Bang - crisp and flavorful + Won ton soup - a surprise as the soup was more pho-like but the wonton was more fish ball in texture. I liked the flavor of the soup. + Hong Kong Curry - spicy but fun Service was pretty good. Though I wish if you ordered a tea (since you get an individual tea bag), you would get more hot water as you can potentiall resteep the green tea. The place was a mood and probably a good spot to go for a date or just the night out. It was a bit dark in there but I get it. It was a stylistic choice. I think it's a fun spot with some interesting takes on some classic dishes. Definitely a place to try out.

There are, I am assuming, fake plants at the top of the ceiling with lanterns hanging down. Which is really nice and it really gives the room a calming atmosphere. The food was pretty good, my boyfriend's family and I had the restaurants fried chicken wings, which was super tasty not overcooked or undercooked. We also had some calamari, which was really good as well. And then when our main dish came out which I had the chow fun, it was super tasty and flavorful. Although the service was a little bit slow, in the fact that there were only two waiters as I saw. The rest of the service was pretty decent. Everyone was super nice. would recommend this restaurant if anyone is in the area of Laval.

We showed up without a reservation on a Friday night, and were seated right away even though it was pretty busy. Very nice decor and good atmosphere! Bestie had (I think) sweet and sour chicken that is supposed to be kind of like General Tao chicken, and didn't like it very much. The chicken is not crispy. I had the mongolian beef which was delicious - very well marinated and seasoned! 10/10 for taste. Side rice was fine as well. We had dumplings as an appetizer and they were good too, though I've had better. Portions are not very big and very expensive ($30+ for mains) for dishes that are obviously made from frozen ingredients, not fresh. That is a pet peeve of mine... IMO, some things on their menu should be half the price they are charging now. Other than that, good standard PF Chang's with good ambiance!

There's way less table with big seats now, mostly stand-alone chair. I did wait about 45 minutes before having a seat. I was in the waitlist and someone asked me after all that time what I was waiting for. When I said to be called for my table, she made a look saying the list was empty but I didn't move for the 45 minutes of where I was told to wait. Another group seemed to have a similar experience. The menu didn't really change, at least nothing I can think of. I took the chicken lettuce roll as a starter. This is always good and it was good. Can be shared no problem. As for my main dish, I took the kung pao chicken. It's a peanut spicy chicken a bit like you would see in a general tao but with way less sauce and too much peanuts. It was ok. In my memory (cause I always took that in all my past experience), it was way more tastier. The chicken was properly cooked but the sauce tasted nearly only the pepper used for the hot and spicy side. There was no sugar or other taste. I'll have to try something else next time. I will give this place another try since I've been here often before. I just think it's time to try another food.

Some of the dishes were good such as the shrimp in lobster sauce and the sashimi was fresh. The other dishes I tried was mostly fried. I wished there were photos of the sushi or descriptions of what is inside on the menu. I would recommend the takeout menu if you want to do some take away.

Watch out as this area is going to be like a downtown Laval! Entering the restaurant on a weekday lunch hour it was not very busy and. I had a nice quiet booth to myself. I perused the menu and decided to go with my Chinese comfort food classic Cantonese chow mein. Growing up in a mix ethnic household. CCM was a staple of heading out for dinner when we ate Chinese food. Starting off my meal came with a soup so I had selected their hot n sour soup. Flavour was lacking a little of the hot so I requested sriracha to bring up the flavour. Next was the CCM. The serving was done in typical fashion. Fried noodles with a thick somewhat gluey translucent yet tasty sauce. The dish had a generous serving of vegetables and lots of shrimp. Overall it was a good sized lunch portion and I was satisfied. Pricing on their menu is quite inexpensive and they had a good selection. Yelper friend Jason mentioned he wants to come back for their $14.99 AYCE lunch buffet. My comments to him is "I'm trying to eat less food than more food these days". I'm trying to avoid buffets as I have little self control. Usually I leave eating far too much food! Maybe one day we shall come for this. Time will tell and a review update shall be had if this happens. Until then. I shall look to order takeout sometime as these people know real deal Chinese cooking. I asked the guy working there if they were mainland or HK. He mentioned mainland which is my test to see if they are from the old country or somewhere else. Well done and good inexpensive Chinese!
